I just heard a promotion for the O’Reilly Factor tonight…Bill said a Catholic Church in Chicago supports Rev Wright and and they will investigate. No mention of any guests. Should be interesting to watch.
From what I’ve seen on St. Sabina’s website and from their support of Rev Wright, it makes my stomach turn that THIS is the picture of the Catholic Church milliions of Americans will be exposed to tonight - thinking it is representative of our faith. And, I doubt Bill will point out that it is not.
 
I came on CAF today looking specifically for information about St. Sabina’s & this Rev. Michael Phleger. I find it very disturbing. Someone PLEASE tell me the archdiocese of Chicago is not behind this. I can’t believe St. Sabina is in any way “Roman Catholic”. :confused:

I’ll eagely wait for replies to this thread.

Liberalism is destroying the Church on both coasts in America. I have no idea why Cardinal George allows this “Catholic” church to function, or why the priest there hasn’t been disciplined.

I Googled Fr. Pfleger & there was nothing under News but I found this on Michelle Malkin’s blog about his connection with Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

Also this Wikipedia article, which it being Wikipedia, keep grains of salt close to hand.
 
I feel that the best thing one can do about Bill O’Reilly is just not to listen to his radio show or watch his television program. I am a former listener to Mr. O’Reilly’s radio show. Boy, I feel so much better after turning that radio off and not turning it on again when O’Reilly is on. It’s like getting relief from one’s high blood pressure without having to take any medicine for it.

Bill is Catholic himself…I’m sure he will point out that supporting Rev Wright is not typical of Catholics. 🙂
 
I just heard the segment. This priest is damned out of his own mouth! He defends both Wright and Farrakhan as “great men”. And goes on, and on. O’reilly was obvously shocked by what he heard and saw. As was I. Roanoker
 
Oh man…I hope the Church comes down on him like a ton of bricks! Return to the Inquisition anyone?
 
The Church just has to act to get these crackpots out of the pulpit. Some people already have a bad opinion of Catholics, without any of this going on. It puts us all in a bad light, I believe.
 
I saw the interview …Isn’t it shocking the priest validated those guys…I think he is as bad as they are…

but I don’t think anything will be done about it…Fr P has been that way for a long time. What made him so extreme:confused:
 
I saw it too. He looked pretty silly to me, ie a white guy trying to act black. According to the report, he also has two adopted boys.
I’m beginning to see why the reformation took place…
 
That was a Catholic Church? It looked more like one of those Sunday morning TV cathederals. And that man spoke with that anger and attitude during a Catholic mass where we celebrate the Eucharist. I feel so lucky that when I came back home to the Church I met a pastor who is a real Catholic Priest.

While Mr. Wright may be a learned biblical scholar he doesn’t recognize the true Church in scripture so where does phleger come off touting him in from the pulpit during a Catholic mass, in a Catholic church?

Also , I didn’t hear Mr. O’Reilly note that that is not the way Catholic priests act during a Mass. Or anywhere for that matter. At least not that I have ever seen.

I think I’ll recite five extra decades for the priesthood today.

I usually sign off as Dan, but today I’m just Mindboggled.
 
Did anybody notice the woman dressed in what looked like a chasuble next to Father during the consecration and receiving communion (self-communicating) the same time he did? What the heck was that? And all those other people around the altar?

How can Cardinal George NOT do something about this Church. It looked like a hybrid Baptist/Catholic/Pentecostal SERVICE to me as opposed to a Catholic Mass. What a mess of a Liturgy.

Extra prayers going up today.

Mr. O’Reilly noted that Fr. Pfleger’s style was not in keeping with Catholic tradition regarding the homily. He said damn those several times, the unabashed hatred and vitriol coming out his mouth floored me. And he was cheered on!

I wondered about that too. I taped it and am going to watch it again. Also, did you notice he had a bread basket. And what about the vestments he was wearing? They were quite exotic.

Bishops usually don’t act until the pressure is on for them to do so. Unfortunately, the “Press” has the most influence on the Catholic church these days for obvious reasons.

It really holds true, that there is no real difference between liberal Catholic and liberal Protestant.
 
I am disgusted by this, so called, priest michael phleger but I am even more outraged because by his actions he implicates all Catholics. HE DOES NOT REPRESENT ME. I wish to know why his Bishop does not speak out and let the world know that this priest is speaking for himself and others like him. The Bishop MUST take action and either remove him or let the world know that this parish is not considered a part of the Catholic Church.
