Please, AMD, you don’t think I don’t know about daily Mass do you? Of course I am aware of daily Mass. :cool:It just sounds like Micky’s church has a nightly specific special Mass for Lent, not a regular daily Mass I’d say. That’s all I meant. For example, my parish is having a lenten mission priest preaching at special Masses Monday through Friday nights with confession after each Mass. I was referring to that type of Mass. I’ve gone to daily Mass for years now. I’m a teacher so in the summer I go every day to Mass at lunch time because I’m off for the summer. 🙂
You know that you can too–if you want. I know that the Latin or Roman Rite of the Catholic Church has Mass everyday all through the year–with the exception of Good Friday, then there’s only a Church service. (And you can be of any Catholic Rite and still attend since it is one Church.) 👍

.

You are obstructing conception! What on earth are you talking about!?!
“Obtructing the act (of lovemaking)” actually involves action, what part of “there is no action in abstinence”, don’t you understand? Again, this goes back to Onan who was found to be spilling his seed outside of, rather than inside of his brother’s widow (thus deliberately killing the very real possibility for life and in turn losing his own).
You most certainly are!
Is masturbation a sin in Orthdoxy?
Same with condom use.
Condom use involves a deliberate intent to contravene God’s law (Onanism) wherein a couple feels entitled to the act irregardless of the fact that one is spilling seed but without allowing it to enter the womb.
By the way, is prohibition of condom use an infallible papal doctrine?
It is a sin to use artificial contraceptives, and it was, until 1930, something which all Christians believed.

If I am wrong then please let me know but I believe that both the Orthodox and Catholic church’s have kept the traditions of the apostles.
Only one Church is the chair of Peter. Any one who is NOT united to the chair of Peter doesn’t keep Our Lord’s command, OR keep the fullness of apostolic tradition.

Since you are not understanding, I suppose I must repeat.

I think it is you who have the problem josie. I believe you will see the allowance of condom use for extra-ordinary circumstances in the near future.

  • Who made a woman’s cycle? Man or God? It’s God
  • How many days in a month are considered fertile for a woman? it’s ~5-6 days. Which means ~24-25 days/month she is not. Who designed that system, God or man? It’s God
  • Does NFP alter a woman’s cycle in any way? No
  • Can you provide a law (biblical or Tradition) that prohibits husband and wife from having marital relations in those ~24-25 days? No!
  • Conceivably, could a woman get pregnant during those ~24-25 days? Sure, because there is always a possibility an egg will drop, and there is nothing artificial to come inbetween the purely natural act, and preventing conception should an egg be fertilized.
Condoms are condemned by the Church. Same as any other barrier, pharmaceutical, or artificial means of preventing conception, or abort a fertilized egg… In 1935 Protestants broke with this condemnation within their own ranks, and allowed artificial contraception. Prior to that date, the EO ALSO condemned it’s use. The Catholic Church alone, maintains condemnation of artificial birth control.

Well well, seems like you know what IS and ISN"T correct!

But it is also correct that the Eastern Orthodox have kept the Apostolic Succession and believe in the Real Presence (that is that the bread and wine become Jesus’ sacred Body and Blood at the consecration. Catholics and Eastern Orthodox also share the same early history. And the Pope reaches out in brotherly love to our brethern.

Every true bishop is Peter, and John, Thomas, Paul etc. …

The purpose of a teaching authority is to teach rightly. One doesn’t achieve salvation by carrying a card, or proclaiming “I am for Cephas!” “I am for Apollos!” Is Christ divided?

Yet Popes have taught that unless all Christians were subject to them, there was no hope of salvation regardless of their own beliefs or acts in life. For the Apostolic church it was not so from the beginning.

One achieves salvation by right belief (from right teaching of a true bishop), and acting out that belief in Faith.

" … And if thy eye scandalize thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee. It is better for thee having one eye to enter into life, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire."

If thy bishop scandalize thee, pluck him out (even if he calls himself supreme).

Huh!!!

Jesus never set it up that way.

Christ is not divided and no one is to be divided from Peter.

When Jesus said to Peter, (alone I might add) to feed and rule my sheep, who was Jesus exempting?

From Peter to Benedict XVI = 266 popes.

What about Paul’s condemnation against division?

“People who divide don’t serve Our Lord but their own selfish appetites. Stay away from them” [Rm 16:17…]

“Those who divide and continue to live like that, will not inherit the kingdom of heaven” [Gal 5:19…21]

“Those who divide and continue to live like that, will not inherit the kingdom of heaven” [Gal 5:19…21]

Gal 5:19-20 - I was under the impression that this was talking about people who divide against God and Scripture, not the church (RCC). I guess according to Catholics, I have much to learn…

the church isn’t a building, it is a union of people with God.

NFP obstructs conception. It is the wasting of the seed. Do you not understand?
"Condom use involves a deliberate intent to contravene God’s law
Odds of conception with condom use are greater than with NFP.
"It is a sin to use artificial contraceptives
So you are saying that the use of condoms for extra-ordinary circumstances is a sin? Is that a supreme infallible statement?

Conceivably, could a woman get pregnant during those ~24-25 days? Sure, because there is always a possibility an egg will drop, and there is nothing artificial to come inbetween the purely natural act, and preventing conception should an egg be fertilized.
When NFP is practiced properly, it is a more effective contraception than condoms.
Condoms are condemned by the Church.
Is that an infallible statement? Besides, the issue regarding condom use for extra-ordinary situations is still being studied by Rome.

Amen.

Sounds familiar. 🙂
Yet Popes have taught that unless all Christians were subject to them, there was no hope of salvation regardless of their own beliefs or acts in life. For the Apostolic church it was not so from the beginning.
This is true.
If thy bishop scandalize thee, pluck him out (even if he calls himself supreme).
Or anathematize him as a heretic (Honorius).

When Jesus said to Peter, (alone I might add) to feed and rule my sheep, who was Jesus exempting?
What do you think this means? Why was St Peter grieved the third time?
“People who divide don’t serve Our Lord but their own selfish appetites. Stay away from them” [Rm 16:17…]

“Those who divide and continue to live like that, will not inherit the kingdom of heaven” [Gal 5:19…21]
Hence, we pray for your return to the fold of the Holy Orthodox Church.

Those who have eyes to see will see and those who have ears to hear will hear. God bless.

the church isn’t a building, it is a union of people with God.
But Jesus created one visibly united church (one body, one faith, one baptism) that has divine authority to lead the people of God into truth (Timothy 3:15). Therefore, it is incumbent upon all Christians to heed this Church, if not, they divide the body of Christ.

p.s. As Catholics we do believe that Trinitarian Christians are united to the Church (through baptism) to a certain (spiritual) degree.
