Yes, yes, you are correct. The pictures were taken long after our guys had departed with bin Ladens body. I was merely thinking aloud that this may very well be how the bin Laden pictures are released- unofficially, with no supposed knowledge from the White House.
I agree… that is probably what will happen.

When it’s in the middle of a firefight it’s certainly understandable. When it’s in a locked prison cell, not so much.
Have you ever tried to pull underwear over someone’s head in the middle of a firefight?

Did anyone (besides me) think that the supposed multi million dollar compound that Osama was hiding in for six years was a little on the tacky side? I mean, come on, the plaster was cracked and grungy, shutters were half hanging, yard was a dirty mess with garbage. Then when you look inside, holy cow, stuff all over the place; piles of clothing or blankets - the kitchen’s sink and faucet looked like Mr. Clean refused to enter the place. Osama had a bunch of “wives” but none appeared to do any housework.
Moving on to the “master bedroom”, the blood was going to be a staining problem but what I could not help noticing was a expandable plastic hose that was connected to a machine that looked very much like one used for a person who has sleep apnea! It was either that or a portable vacuum cleaner; but that seems rather improbable.
He was living the life of Rielly as we used to say - had everything figured out. Pajamas with his get away cash and a couple of contact phone numbers (that ought to be interesting to the pals he was going to call on for help).
Realators say “location, location, location” - that’s makes a place valuable - guess
that was true for this dump because the Pakistani military, police, academy and who knows what else was about 80 yards up the street. After six years, wouldn’t the neighbors sneak a peek at you and comment about who’s this one, or that one, where you got your $ from, or buy some girl scout cookies? I keep hearing different amounts of billions of dollars we give to Pakistan, but not WHY? I really don’t think they were playing ball with us - maybe just playing with us. Think so? I know of really deserving people who could use a little financial assistance. They are incredibly generous to others; always aiding the underdog in a fight with bad guys; respect freedom; “Pledge allegiance to the flag, of the United States of America, one nation, under God, with liberty and justice for all”. Yep, your right! USA, USA, USA, USA, USA, USA! 👍

You had me laughing so hard, my wife was asking “what are you laughing about?”

I see what you mean. It appears that Father Beck is in fact liberal on a few ideas-namely, allowing priests to marry and have families. At least, that is what I took from his ‘Is It Time For Vatican III?’ aticle. So, in that regard, I may have jumped the gun a bit.
I think, though, that O’Reilly and Goldman were equally bad or perhaps worse when giving their opinion on Christianity, and Catholics in particular.
Allowing priests to marry was the least disturbing idea Fr Beck has put forward. Praying for him now.

Keep in mind that there’s a difference between how you may treat the enemy on the battlefield and how you may treat him once he’s in your custody and disarmed, according to the moral code of warfare that civilized nations follow.
Unfortunately, the US is not a civilized nation. Except for the few people who are, which is like 1 in 4 americans, perhaps? 🤷

That “anyone” is I. Whatever brains and talent the man had, he decidedly was a Zero in the aesthetics department. Who the H built that “compound?” My gosh, when my Dad was a naval Commander we moved all over the place. Twice we had to stay very briefly in Quonset huts. That was a tiny moment of torture for the family, but they were palaces compared to that dump OBL was living in. I was appalled at the “architect,” if he was one, who built the place. Remember when you “built” structures, as a child, out of things like tissue boxes and assorted rectangular objects that you stacked on top of one another and called a house? That’s exactly what the… ahem… “Million Dollar Compound” resembled.

And I agree on the total mess inside. Where are the servants for such a “millionaire”? Hmmm… Maybe he spent it all on arms for terrorists?

I saw the news of this air at 03:00 on Monday. I was a little shocked–someone tried to convince me that Osama was already dead as a result of disease (at least, that’s what this person thought)–but in the end, I was happy. As I reflected on my original reaction of happiness, I felt kind of guilty. . I don’t think I should rejoice about someone’s death. :-\

But. . I saw it as a victory for the U.S., and for my Military, the U.S. Military. 🙂 It meant a great deal to me because I don’t think we’ve had victory in many years. . We seemed to have fumbled greatly in the past few decades with Military and political matters. . Long story short, I think this was a good thing. I think it showed the militant fundamentalists and terrorists that “we still got it,” and that we’re not going to give up.

Something was fishy with that “mansion” thing.

Any sign of any kidney dialysis equipment?

How could anyone maintain covert surveillance over that building and “compound” … gated community … whatever … without being seen? I mean the neighborhood was loaded with military and police, active-duty and retired. Even the neighborhood kids and the convenience store guy knew something was fishy.

Unless it was a set-up from the get-go.

OBL seemed to be an ISI “set-up” … like a tethered goat in one of those rigged “hunts”.

“We” got a boost in the ratings.

ISI gets to deliver an “October Surprise” with nukes, which they have plenty of, in 2012.

Its not like they don’t know we raided the place and took whatever was there. Also, they haven’t given any details about what we learned. The fear that we know more than we actually do may well work to our advantage in some ways.
We could have blown the building apart after the raid, stay silent on whatever information we gained, and then let the enemy believe it destroyed in the explosion.

At least that scenario has the pretense of not telegraphing our hand.

As it is I feel like our government is the lone player at the poker table bragging to the other players of the cards in his hand.

They’d have easily figured it out anyway. I s’pose if you follow that reasoning, and it is valid reasoning, then why not don’t tell anybody about the raid anyway and then tabulate all the found intel and then persue it. That would allow a lot more long tern impact on the terror cells for sure. But how difficult would it be to keep a lid on the Seal’s actions… Good question.
I would have preferred that.
As to the difficulty in keeping the Seal teams actions secret…that is done all the time.

Only problem is, no matter how they are released, in the end, they will be released, and any consequence the administration is trying to avoid could happen anyway…
I do not believe they are trying to avoid anything other then bad press on the economy and gas prices.

So as long as they can keep pumping the story (good or bad) the better for them.

Today is the National Day of Prayer. Its a good time to pause, reflect and pray.

Bin Laden may or not have been the most evil man in the world, and I fully understand the wrath of America, over 9/11. I admire the American forces and God Bless them all.
However to shoot any man in cold blood, in my book is not Christian. Why not arrest him and and try him and give him ( no matter how high the feelings are) a hearing, He would have got the death penalty anyhow. No mater what he did or how bad he was or how many thousands he killed, he was a human being. I was shocked to see joy and celebration with feelings of revenge obvious. " justice and been done". Banners from all over the States and beyond read
“May he rot in Hell” Suddenly the people are making the judgement, which I always thought was a judgement reserved for the Lord.
Next thing he was wrapped up and weighted down and flung into the sea like an animal.
Next 59% of Americans wanted to see the photo of Bin Laden shot in the head with his brains hanging out.
The American government I know thought all this was to prevent a shrine to him, a meeting place, and all the other reasons given.
I too stood and watched 9/11 in disbelief and I understand the dreadful sorrow of the families of those thousands killed and injured, but underneath all this was a sense of disbelief that the Great America could be brought to is knees in its own country.
There are thousands and thousands of people dying and injured in other countries as I write. I have no other reason for answering this thread except to express the inhuman treatment of a human being no matter who or what he was.
I also know that many of you will jump up and down reading this, but to express my is my rite also. Peace be in your hearts, because we do not know what the future holds.

What concerns me…is the Bishops are focused on OBL - UBL a Known criminal - and not the woman in front of him being shot.

I think Bin Laden was a tethered goat. I think Pakistan was being paid by Bin laden to protect him and his family. Thus the reason for no security at the compound. He thought he had security.

I think US intelligence discovered Bin Laden was living in a Pakistani military community next to a military base.

When confronted with this Pakistan cut a deal. They gave up Osama for a price or a favor.

I think US helicopters went in and the US military assassinated all the men in house including Osama. They first reported that there was a firefight, then later reports said that no return fire came from the compound. And, that there were no weapons found in the compound. First they said Bin Laden was firing and armed and then that he was unarmed when shot.

This explains no US military injuries during the assault. We saw photos and reports from the White House, bragging about the technology that allowed Obama, Clinton and others watched the operation in real time. Now we are told for 25 minutes during the crucial part of the raid that all helmet cams were turned off? There is no video of the assault? Just not credible.

The 12 year old daughter of Bin Laden says her father was captured and then executed later. This makes perfect sense given all the facts.

It would seem to be beyond belief that a 45 minute 4 helicopter operation and huge firefight took place within 100 yards of a Pakistani military base and no fire was taken from outside the compound operation. Now Pakistan is admitting incompetence, but no knowledge. Again unbelievable.

The White House story keeps changing to quell any of the questions asked. That means, to any reasonably intelligent person, that they are lying!

Any bets?

My Brother told me to only bet on sure things - AND then check and recheck 😃

This is how conspiracy theories start. 😉

I don’t think we will know the truth for many years or decades even.

I have gone one step further.
I seriously doubt the story that the man is dead.

I will not attempt to place a motive into all of it, but I see no logic in believing this.
The only source for the fact is constantly changing the story.
At some point, and I have reached it, you have to doubt everything the source is saying.
