Sounds like a pretty well executed operation by re-con without any casulties. Appartley they initially were going to bomb the area, and opted to use the Seals with a more technical operation.

I’m glad they finally got him, I;m also sure there are many to take his place in his own organization and other fractions that are a result of his.

I am going to be the first to say it, Kudo’s to Barack Obama. This is a win for ALL AMERICANS, first and foremost. He got intelligence and he acted on it and killed that punk (insert your favorite explicative here).

I’ll bash Obama’s economic policies tomorrow. Today is a day to celebrate and give credit where credit is due.

I do not think this attitude is Christ-like. I mean seriously. Should we not show thatwe are better than our enemies, instead of stooping to their level?
I watched the towers get hit and fall from my office window. I saw people leap to their deaths alone and without their families. Dying in fear and terror. Frankly, I don’t care what you think of my attitude.

Yes, my heart sank when I heard about the burial at sea. With no body to be confirmed by outsiders, al-Qaeda loyalists (as well as run of the mill conspiracy theorists) are likely to say that he is still alive… no doubt schmoozing with Elvis and Tupac at their secret hideaway.
Not all Muslims even adhere to the 24 hour rule, let alone that in this case the body couldn’t be buried at sea. The Islamists aren’t going to all of a sudden start loving us for killing bin Laden if we buried him with full military honors at Arlington. Burying him at sea was a wise move and I commend whomever it was that thought of it, if indeed that is what happened. Frankly, it sounds like an idea coming from the Pakistani Intellegince.

I heard that they did that for two reasons.
  1. To reduce the Islamic outcry by complying with the Islamic burial tradition of burying within one day
  2. Secondly,. and most importantly, if denying his followers a rallying point, a tomb would have been a security nightmare.

Well, since the majority of Muslims claim that Bin Laden did not follow the Islamic faith they should not care how his body was treated. According to moderate Muslims he wasn’t one of them.

Burying him at sea prevents Al Qaida from turning his burial site into a holy shrine.

I’m sure these people thought it was nonsense:

news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/3585765.stm
Witnesses said the contractors were passing through Falluja in two four-wheel-drive vehicles when gunmen opened fire.
An angry crowd descended on the cars, throwing stones and setting the vehicles ablaze.
The corpses were dragged from the wreckage and television pictures showed one burnt body being kicked and stamped on, while at least two were tied to cars and driven through the city, witnesses said.
Adults and children hacked the bodies to pieces, before lynching two of the charred remains from a bridge spanning the Euphrates River.

Agreed!!!

His efforts (only playing 9 holes of golf on Sunday instead of 18) were key in this.👍

I say this was the right thing to do. That does not, however, prevent some radicals or other from enshrining some other totemic object; a bit of blood (real or faked) from the scene, some fingernail clippings, a bit of hair, his copy of the Koran (real or faked). There will be something.

Do we have to take a survey before we bury the guy? Burial at sea is a perfectly respectable way to go according to the Western way of thinking. We just killed him! And for good reason. We weren’t there to determine what his beliefs were or who would be offended by any of this.
It’s all very significant that UBL was killed on Easter Sunday during the hour of Mercy and the news was announced on Divine Mercy Sunday.

The Islamic tradition that was upheld is that he was buried within twenty-four hours. I don’t think they ever indicated that burial at sea was an Islamic tradition.
AH HA! How funny you bolded my psycho-ness. They did indicate it, I still have the news on (channel 4 kron news) and now that’s the only story they are saying.

He was buried at sea as per Islamic tradition. At first (around 4 am) they said it was a mix of both reasons, but now they’re not even saying anything about countries not wanting the body - it was just the respectful thing to do.

But this is this station… 🤷 I’m just following along.

And I’m not crazy… 😃

I am sorry for your loss. Your suffering is nothing compared to what our Lord suffered. If we are called to emulate Him, then we must also forgo retribution.
