No one knows the answer with the certainty you espouse LR; they only presume to. And heart transplants can still fail BTW; and we can’t foretell which ones will and which won’t. But only those patients who make it to the end with their new hearts intact proceed to heaven. The others, with heart failure, were “reprobate” regardless of what they thought earlier in life.

Incidentally God would never be so mean and petty as to create beings whose destinies were predetermined to be eternal torment. If He was, you wouldn’t want to spend eternity with Him anyway.

God only performs heart transplant on His children/elect and their heart transplants to fail is a theological impossibility.

**SECOND: **God newer performs heart transplant on the reprobates who are predestined to hell from all eternity for their vehement rejection of God and His grace, they cannot even have a valid baptism, their names taken out from the Book of Life from all eternity. – DE FIDE.

THIRD: Those who have the heart transplants they know it.
I know I have the heart transplant because God didn’t give me anesthetic when He has performed His heart transplant on me.

**FOURTH: **I was spiritually dead and now I’m spiritually alive and I know the difference between the two because the Holy Spirit is burning in my new heart (I’m not presume it I feel it), I have sweet unspeakable joy because I know God built me into His Holy Temple in heaven and I know Christ is in me and I in Christ. – Eph.2:21-22; etc.

  1. God offers heart transplants to all. But even those who receive one can turn away, abusing their new-found health and losing it in the process. This is both scriptural and de fide Church dogma.
  2. This actually opposes de fide doctrine of the Roman Catholic Church.
  3. & 4) Have you read Scripture? It’s obvious that people can receive the Holy Spirit, then fall away again:
**“It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age and who have fallen away, to be brought back to repentance.” **Heb 6:4-6
**“A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path; it was trampled on, and the birds ate it up. Some fell on rocky ground, and when it came up, the plants withered because they had no moisture. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up with it and choked the plants. Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up and yielded a crop, a hundred times more than was sown.”

“This is the meaning of the parable: The seed is the word of God. Those along the path are the ones who hear, and then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved. Those on the rocky ground are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall away. The seed that fell among thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life’s worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not mature. But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop.** Heb 8:5-8 & 11-15

I don’t mean to invade your privacy.

I’m sure God performed on you a heart transplant operation (Ez.36:26-27) and you know it with absolute certainty.

Do you think Fhansen, God performs the same heart transplant operation on the reprobates as well who are predestined to hell from all eternity for their vehement rejection of God and His grace?

Don’t need to answer the question because we all know the answer.

Hi LR,

My old pastor used to say that , “one can know that you know that you* know*” that you are saved , or been born again, quickened by the Spirit. Can life not know it has life ? Some Writ testifies to this , “that you may know”. This is fundamental , regardless of OSAS position.

So do I. The problem with OSAS is that it’s based on the presumption that one can know with absolute certainty that one is saved.
Hi fh,

or is the presumption that the certainty of it all is not on our strength, but on His, and His promises, yet not negating free will.

Very often, but not always, those against OSAS have a sort of works based salvation, or partial works. In the end , the Lord is indeed Savior, with good reason. In the end , our crowns will be placed at His feet.

Hi fh,

Yes this is the flip side. Strong Writ arguments. Calvin was quite aware of them, and tried his best to make them comply.

As you may know, if it is difficult for a genuinely saved person to know for sure 100% of his end, how much more difficult is it to say when is one really saved, or how much must he taste before he is “good soil” ?, thus giving cause for Calvinists to say, “they were never saved in the first place”. They did not have the "good "heart , good soil to begin with, they say, (per John’s epistle)…

I think this is why some state that they could deny the Lord and His goodness at any time, upholding free will and our old man, the flesh, to daily deal with, and the need for such an exhortation as found in Hebrews, but still have assurance of God’s providence to “keep” them in saved graces, as found in many other scriptures.

Yes-we have no idea where Adam is now-only that he fell once, may or may not have risen afterwards, and even if he rose he could still fall again.

We can have a guarded assurance, based on various evidences. But for all we know Mr C himself may’ve been among the reprobate. Anyway the "they were never saved to begin with " notion is just self-serving double-speak in my opinion. We simply* don’t know.* But we do know, as Scripture tells us, that many will think they’re among the elect while they are not.

Either way there’s way too much Scripture telling us that believers must: be vigilant, keep oil in their lamps, invest their talents, be holy, be perfect, feed the hungry, cloth the naked, refrain from sin, strive, persevere, etc, generally with loss of place in the kingdom at stake.

In the end, salvation isn’t universal. What we choose to do counts, beginning with the response of faith, a gift of grace we can accept or reject…

"I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life." 1 John 5:13
It’s often overused by those who wish to insist that we can have certainty of our salvation, rather than striking a balance on this matter after considering all of Scripture in its whole context. Do you really think that no literary licence could’ve been employed there by John-in order to state some general principle? Would you insist that every ear that would’ve heard John’s letter was necessarily attached to a person whose eternal destiny was heaven?

Yes I read Hebr.6:4-6 and these very Bible verses stopped me to believe a genuine Christian/elect cannot lose salvation because my incorrect interpretation put me into the Trap of the Negative Inference Fallacy.

I wrongly inferred a genuine Christian/elect can lose salvation
which is in reality contradicts the Scripture in general and the Catholic DE FIDE Dogma Predestination of the elect.

Hebr.6:4-6 is a Divine Warning passage, if we infer it negatively (elect can lose salvation), puts us into the Trap of the Negative Inference Fallacy and we conclude an elect can lose salvation which is not possible.

**To interpret parables you have quoted in your post, first we have to know the related theological facts such as: **
  1. **Intellectual faith.
  2. God’s gift of formed faith.
  3. Results of valid baptism.
  4. Predestination of the elect.
  5. INTELLECTUAL FAITH**
Intellectual faith is only head knowledge, this faith cannot save.
Reprobates who come as spectators in different Christian groups can gain some kind of intellectual faith even some kind of intellectual faith produced “salvation” which cannot save, we can call that “reprobate salvation” which is a fake salvation.
2. GOD’S GIFT OF FORMED FAITH
Every child/elect of God is a receiver of God’s gift of formed faith immediately AFTER initial justification at baptism.

**COUNCIL OF TRENT **
. . . none of those things which precede justification - whether faith or works - merit the grace itself of justification.
For, if it be a grace, it is not now by works, otherwise, as the same Apostle says, grace is no more grace. End quote.

JUSTIFICATION BY FAITH ALONE? by James Akin

Quote: “In fact, in TRADITIONAL WORKS OF CATHOLIC THEOLOGY, one regularly encounters the statement that FORMED FAITH IS JUSTIFYING FAITH. If one has formed faith, one is justified. Period. End quote. Emphasis mine.

**THE COMPOSITE OF GOD’S GIFT OF FORMED FAITH:

a. BELIEF (Unconditional BELIEF in what God says.)

b. HOPE (Unconditional TRUST in God.)

c. CHARITY (Unconditional LOVE for God.)**

3. RESULTS OF THE BAPTISM ON GOD’S CHILDREN/ELECT
  1. God’s children/elect are in the state of grace, born again.
  2. In heaven they have been built into God’s Holy Temple.
  3. In heaven they are sitting together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.
  4. AT THE SAME TIME (their spirit + soul) is on the earth as well (in their unredeemed/corrupt bodies) and in spite of that, they are able to co-operate with the grace of God.
Because it is a MYSTERY we may not yet fully understand the way it is possible that at the SAME TIME our (spirit + soul) is in heaven built into God’s Holy Temple, siting together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus and it is on the earth as well.

God desire that everyone saved, God offers His salvation and His baptism to everyone.
The reprobates are reprobated because they vehemently reject God and His grace, as the result, no reprobate can have God’s valid baptism.

**4. PREDESTINATION OF THE ELECT

The Catholic Church affirms predestination as a *DE FIDE *Dogma (the highest level of binding theological certainty).

CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA

THE CATHOLIC DOGMA. – The predestination of the elect.**

Consequently, the whole future membership of heaven, down to its minutest details, has

been IRREVOCABLY FIXED FROM ALL ETERNITY. Nor could it be otherwise. For if it

were possible that a predestined individual should after all be CAST INTO HELL or that

one not predestined should in the end REACH HEAVEN, then God would have been

MISTAKEN in his foreknowledge of future events; He would NO LONGER be omniscient.

God’s unerring foreknowledge and foreordaining is designated in the Bible by the beautiful

figure of the “Book of Life” (liber vitæ, to biblion tes zoes). This book of life is a list which

contains the names of ALL THE ELECT and admits NEITHER ADDITIONS NO ERASURES.

(2) The second quality of predestination, the DEFINITENESS of the number of the elect,

follows NATURALLY from the first. For if the eternal counsel of God regarding the

predestined is UNCHANGEABLE, then the number of the predestined must likewise be

UNCHANGEABLE and DEFINITE, subject NEITHER to ADDITIONS nor to

CANCELLATIONS. Anything indefinite in the number would eo ipso imply a lack of

certitude in God’s knowledge and would DESTROY His omniscience. End quote. Emphasis added.

THE BOOK OF LIFE

God has completed the Book of Life from all eternity by taken out the names of the reprobates from the Book of Life for their vehement rejection of God and His grace and as the results they all end up in hell.

Practically by their vehement rejection of God and His grace the reprobates predestined themselves to hell.

In Catholic Theology only the reprobates end up in hell who are predestined to hell from all eternity .

From the completion, from all eternity
, the Book of life admits NEITHER ADDITIONS no ERASURES.

Continuation

Some people can be confused about the Book of Life, because God has completed the Book of Life in His “chronological order” from all eternity, but in the Bible concerning the events in the Book of Life, for our understanding, written in our chronological order, like the cancellations from the Book of Life done at our present time, this is not the case.

This fact can cause confusion, because someone may wrongly conclude; God’s children/elect can lose their salvation, which is a theological impossibility.

As we see above, Concerning the Book of Life there is only two groups of people in the world.

God’s children/elect. – All predestined to heaven from all eternity.

The Salvation/Everlasting Life of every Child/Elect of God is protected by God’s special grace The Gift of Final Perseverance, without this protection every Child/Elect of God would end up in hell.

Every Child/Elect of God have been given the Great Commission to one way or another, **to be an ambassador of the Lord Jesus Christ. **

God’s Children/Elect’s position and glory in heaven is determined by God according to the judgment of their works, of course their salvation is not at stake, it is Eternally Protected.

**The other group is the reprobates. **
Just as every child/elect of God predestined to heaven from all eternity, in the same way all reprobates predestined to hell from all eternity.

There is no in between position, **every member of the entire human race is a member one of the above two groups. **

**THEOLOGICAL FACTS OF THE PREDESTINATION OF GOD’S CHILDREN/ELECT TO HEAVEN AND THE REPROBATES TO HELL

PREDESTINATION OF GOD’S CHILDREN/ELECT TO HEAVEN**

First theological fact: Their names stands written in the Book of Life from all eternity.

Second theological fact: They are predestined to heaven from all eternity.

Third theological fact: Heaven is in their bag from all eternity.

Fourth theological fact: Everlasting life is in their bag from all eternity.

Fifth theological fact: God performs His part of a valid baptism in heaven.
Only God’s children/elect can have valid baptism, no one else!!!

PREDESTINATION OF THE REPROBATES TO HELL. With Catholic terminology: Decree The Divine Reprobation.

The COUNTERPART of the predestination of the elect to heaven is Decree The Divine Reprobation (negative predestination to hell) of the reprobates.

First theological fact:
The names of the reprobates taken out from the Book of Life from all eternity.

Second theological fact: They are predestined to hell from all eternity.

Third theological fact: Hell is in their bag from all eternity.

Fourth theological fact: Everlasting spiritual and physical death is in their bag from all eternity.

Fifth theological fact: God performs His part of a valid baptism of the (spirit + soul) of the elect in heaven.

Reprobates CAN NEVER have valid baptism for many other reasons as well, their rejection of God and His grace, if a reprobate would have a valid baptism and would die one second after baptism, he would end up in heaven and God would lose His omniscience, etc.!!!

God bless Fhansen and every readers of the CAF.

Someone may ask:
If the elect cannot lose their salvation, than what is the reason of Hebr.6:4-6?

It must be written for teaching purpose of the elect and for warning purpose of the reprobates who are among the elect in different Christian groups.
The reprobates at the judgment cannot say they didn’t warned.

ABOUT THE PARABLE

Those on the rocky ground are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root.
They believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall away. = Reprobates with intellectual faith.

The seed that fell among thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life’s worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not mature. = Reprobates with intellectual faith.

But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop. = God’s children/elect with God’s gift of formed faith, they also recipients of God’s gift of salvation/everlasting life + God’s special grace The Gift of Final Perseverance which is the Eternal Protection of their salvation/everlasting life.

Without God’s special grace The Gift of Final Perseverance every child/elect of God would end up in hell.

I like the term “If saved, always saved.” 😉
That’s the big IF. At what time do we know we are saved? Is it revealed at the Last Judgment?

Some people seem to think you are saved after answering an altar call and saying the sinner’s prayer, and have accepted Jesus into your heart as your personal Lord and Savior. But Jesus being your Lord means He is someone you must obey. That’s what Lord is, someone you obey. What then, if you fail to obey Him?

That’s not a question the believers in OSAS seem to be interested in.
