Well I would say that the money is a pretty darn important thing. Aside from that, he is the public face of the university, at least the academic part of the university.

Did you read the article? He said that the fathers at Notre Dame were holy on Sunday and holy hell the rest of the week. He said the FATHERS not the football coaches or the athletic director.

Last year, Gee apologized for comparing the problem of coordinating the school’s many divisions to the Polish army, a remark that a Polish-American group called bigoted and ignorant.

the FATHERS run the university including the athletic department. the joke wouldn’t make sense in any other context. he was talking purely about football. I heard the interview. he slapped the Universities of Kentucky, Louisville and ND

reel in the rabbit ears.

Replace the word “Catholics” with “gays”, “blacks”, “women” or “Jews” and I guarantee you the man would be fired by the end of the week. GUARANTEED. (Well, maybe not guaranteed as OSU has had a winning football program during his tenure. Maybe if he had said “blacks” he might have been fired since that would affect recruiting).

If you google his name you can see all the stupid things he has said and the controversy that follows he and his wife. I assume he knows how to pull the right academic chains and he must bring in the cash.
