If you do purchase a kitten or cat from the pet store, please be sure to protect your purchase by coming to an understanding with the pet shop that if the kitten/cat is tested for feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) or has a combo test (FeLV/FIV - feline leukemia virus and feline immunodeficiency virus), and either test comes up positive, you have the right to return the pet for a refund. These cats are contagious to other cats and their lives are more complicated due to management issues. Either test can be performed at a vet’s office.

I just bet he’s lounging on some kid’s bed right now, purring and stretching and capturing hearts. But we never know; sometimes pets return home after months or even years!

Again, prayers all around for the family and for your sweet cat. I hope he gets bored and makes his way home soon.

Surely you know how kids drag a stray in, hide him in their bedroom, try to keep him quiet, don’t even know how to take care of him, and then the cat alerts the adults through meowing, scratching, clawing, putting up a fuss, and then the kids have to hand him over?

That’s all I meant by my remark about your kitty lounging. Some adult will likely find him and help bring him home to you.

I didn’t mean to upset you. I guess I just forgot to provide the rest of the scenario . . . 😊

What happened to the kitty at the gas station? Did he move on?

Oh that’s ok…glad you clarified. lol Well, your username IS capt…BACKFIRE, lol 😛

We had been feeding him as you might recall, for a while…and one day we couldn’t make it up there…we went back a few times thereafter, and left a can, and the past few times, we have not seen him. He was getting used to us, it seemed. I would take that cat in now, since ours went missing!! Weird how life works out sometimes, no?

In case it isn’t obvious…lol…still no sign of Saber. I thought about it today, and yes, cats have a good sense of direction, etc…but he never went outside. I think he ran off quickly, after the neighbor saw him early in the morning–so, if he ran out of the neighborhood…it is possible he could make his way back…but, to find his exact house? When all the townhomes look similiar? I dunno. I think he should be running the country, if he can pull that off, not being an outdoor cat and all. :o 🤷

In my heart of hearts, I don’t believe he is staying out because he wants to at this point–I have a feeling…a strong one, that he is very lost. It was also pretty chilly last night…into the 40’s…and I just felt sad thinking of where he could be laying to find warmth. 😦

I also think that if he returns into the neighborhood, he could also be lurking around already, just hidden…he will be looking for us…and a stranger will spook him most likely, and he’ll run again. I don’t mean to sound pessimistic, but I’m a realist. 🤷

What about the shelters? Lots of folks find kitties they can’t or don’t want to keep and they turn them in - jeez, we’re all trying to think of anything you may not have considered, and this is one that was probably on the top of your list, but it might be worth it to check again just to see if he was turned in.

My little dog died a year ago, and on New Year’s eve I had another of my dogs euthanized because she had hemangiosarcoma and was really failing fast. We tried to keep her going and she was coping all right for about a month, but then her demise was really rapid. I miss them tremendously. I hope Saber finds his way home in good shape and with lessons learned.

Praying for you . . .

Ok…trying not to get too excited, BUT…my husband and I just talked, and he said he went looking this morning for our cat again…(he leaves later for work than me) and he said three people saw the cat this morning, down by the bus stop at our neighborhood entrance. They described him to a tee…and he said that they all noticed that he ran out from under a truck that started up this morning. Poor thing–he must be scared!!! And trying to find his way back to us! 😦

Anyways…my husband works for Disney, and he is going to offer a reward of getting up to three people into one of the parks for free, any time this year–thought that would be a great way to get everyone looking, no? We’re going to make up new fliers and pass them out this weekend, if he hasn’t returned before then. Also, gonna tell the kids when they arrive home from school, to put food out for him on the edge of the porch, and sit hidden, to see if that gets him close.

I hope it’s him you guys!!! :o

That does sound very promising!!
I’ll pray for his safe return to your loving family!

I almost had this same problem yesterday. I took the new puppy outside to potty and apparently didn’t pull the door all the way closed and it somehow cracked back open enough for Socks, my cat, to open it to get out. I’m sure that she went out in hopes to find Juliet (my doggie I had to put to sleep last weekend). Luckily she was only right down the hallway when I got back. When I noticed the door open and I walked in and couldn’t find her, my heart dropped to my stomach. I know that she’s greiving Juliet’s loss.

When that happened I thought of you…I really hope your kitty get home safe and sound!!
