Depending on how it is approached you may be right. The rift between right and left is irreconcilable. .
It would be nice if we could still visit though, yes?

Source? The priests job is to give us guidance on how to live the Gospel. It is contained within the graces of their ordinal sacrament.
40+ year of experience with the church.Source?
Would that it were so with all priests and that all did their dutyā¦40+ year of experience with the church.
The Catholic Church teaches that Jesus Christās apostles were the first priests. For more than two thousand years, it has been the duty of Catholic priests to represent Christ to the world.
Since the priest acts āin persona christiā it is his duty to be the example of Christ (the Gospel) to his parishioners.
Well, ya. They are still human with all of the human frailties we have. Ordination doesnāt make them impeccable.Would that it were so with all priests and that all did their dutyā¦
No, our borders will be fenced almost immediately. I fear it would not be long and we would be fighting illegal immigration from your side. Any visitation would be highly regulated and legal immigration would be based on political views and ability to produce a service or good.Depending on how it is approached you may be right.
It would be nice if we could still visit though, yes?![]()
Maybe you would rather call it rhetoric? Accusing the right of everything you do above is no better than Nancy Pelosi claiming Republicanās want women bleeding out on the floor. In American politics there most certainly is - not saying it should be so - just sayingā¦
How else could someone be pro-life, pro-family and anti-just about everything else that a family needs to exist: the ability to influence just wages, to obtain education fit for earning a livelihood, to remain healthy without going bankrupt, to get assistance when unable to earn/work, to find jobs making the products they use dailyā¦
You didnāt mention Romney. You mentioned pro-life and pro-family.Hyperbole is this:
Or are you saying that Romney now cares about the poor?
I like Bob Barr. But I do think that there was a big difference in McCain and Obama. However, McCain was a very weak candidate and was the choice of the āestablishmentā.In the last presidential election I voted for Bob Barr. I didnāt feel there was a difference between Barrack Obama and John Mccain. I have had a clean conscience for almost four years.
One of the differences I see is that McCain would have vetoed the ACA. There would be no such thing as āObamacareā for us to constantly fight over. What fun would that be?I like Bob Barr. But I do think that there was a big difference in McCain and Obama. However, McCain was a very weak candidate and was the choice of the āestablishmentā.
I donāt understand your point. What message do you think Jesus was trying to get across in this passage?Seriously, how anyone could interpret āpick up your cross and follow after meā could mean āelect someone into office so they can take your cross and put it on someone elseās shouldersā is beyond me.
This passage is interesting, considering some peopleās take that Jesus was a prefiguration of Robin Hood.
"While Jesus was in Bethany in the home of a man known as Simon the Leper, a woman came to him with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, which she poured on his head as he was reclining at the table. When the disciples saw this, they were indignant. āWhy this waste?ā they asked. āThis perfume could have been sold at a high price and the money given to the poor.ā Aware of this, Jesus said to them, āWhy are you bothering this woman? She has done a beautiful thing to me. The poor you will always have with you, but you will not always have me. When she poured this perfume on my body, she did it to prepare me for burial. I tell you the truth, wherever this gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her.ā Matthew 26:6-13
Maybe CMatt25, who continually reminds us of our duty to the poor, can square chapter 26 with chapter 25.
The Mexico City policy gives hundreds of millions of dollars to organizations like Planned Parenthood to promote abortion, even in countries where people find abortion objectionable. I learned something new about the Mexico City Policy from a letter written by Bishop Hubbard and Ken Hackett, the Mexico City Policy gives funding to the āU.N. Population Fund which supports a program of coerced abortion and involuntary sterilization in China:āThe Mexico City policy? How many lives has it saved? In the countries we help, as in this country, most people have abortions because of reasons related to their socio-economic status, regardless of US abortion policies. It stands to reason then, that helping countries develop economically is the best way to decrease abortion and anything else has arguably little - if any - effect.
That Jesus understood that the poor would always be with humanity until the end of time, and even He understood that there were circumstances where the needs of the poor could be overlooked.I donāt understand your point. What message do you think Jesus was trying to get across in this passage?![]()
Which after listening to a homily about the poor, is exactly a reason why I no longer attend the Catholic Church in what is the territorial parish for Catholics in my neighborhood. His guidance on how to live the Gospel didnāt square with what I read in the Gospel. The priests job is to give us guidance on how to live the Gospel.
Donāt cooperate with evil to satisfy an earthly need. Following Christ and doing his will is more important than earthly needs. That Jesus understood that the poor would always be with humanity until the end of time, and even He understood that there were circumstances where the needs of the poor could be overlooked.
Iām not sure of his point either. Perhaps that there will always be poor.I donāt understand your point. What message do you think Jesus was trying to get across in this passage?![]()
And of course your interpretation of the Gospel is 100% accurate.Which after listening to a homily about the poor, is exactly a reason why I no longer attend the Catholic Church in what is the territorial parish for Catholics in my neighborhood. His guidance on how to live the Gospel didnāt square with what I read in the Gospel.
Itās arrogance to suggest that the government can wipe out poverty and injustice. That has to be done at the individual level, seeing Christ in others. Being that we are fallen creatures, poverty and injustice will end when evil has been conquered at the end of the world.Iām not sure of his point either. Perhaps that there will always be poor. But that doesnāt mean society should not further strive to eleviate the numbers.
This is how I feel as well.Romney - he has the best chance of beating Obama. I also believe he could turn around our economy. On the other issue - supreme court justices, foreign policy, etc. I believe he is solid.

You arenāt obligated to attend only your āterritorial parish.ā My son, e.g., canāt stand the music(?) and the homilies at our parish and attends elsewhere. I endure and just offer it up.Which after listening to a homily about the poor, is exactly a reason why I no longer attend the Catholic Church in what is the territorial parish for Catholics in my neighborhood.
