Priests were praying ex tempore for over 1500 years before Protestantism was a twinkle in Martin Luther’s eye.The Rosary is a practice. Catholicism–and indeed any religion–is made up of practices. A Catholic school can be expected to instill the practices of the Catholic religion. I don’t see the problem here.
Extempore prayer is also a practice. It’s a fine practice–an evangelical one that I wish more Catholics would take up (and I’m happy that they are). But it isn’t higher or more spiritual than a traditional prayer like the Rosary.
