A little update.

I’m finally back at CAF. (I even received a message I haven’t seen for years … about not posting for a while. Some of you may be familiar with this.)

I received my last paycheque April 11th.
I’ve offered to stay on without pay until they have $ to hire people or until I find a paying job.
I really feel that I am a big part of The Community Connections Centre (“Nik’s Place”). There are a number of projects I have taken on. There is work to do. I just hope that it is the Lord’s work!

Blessed Saint Joseph, pray for us!

I’m glad you have found useful and fulfilling work to do! 🙂

The next part of the battle will be to find a way to get paid for it. My prayers are continuing for you - I hope and pray you find something very soon.

We are now living off of my wife’s savings.

A month or two ago I closed my personal bank account. They were withdrawing almost five dollars a month in service fees. In a few months I would become overdrawn, so I transferred the remaining funds to our joint account.

The other day I actually had to ask the owner of a grocery store for a loaf of bread. She was very generous with a donation and advice.

A local baker has also taken it upon himself to help out when needed.

The generosity of virtual strangers is astounding.

In times of trouble, it’s always amazing to me who steps up to help. It’s never who you think it should be.

I actually earned a wee little bit of money.
The daughter of my supervisor at “work” has a weekly paper route and couldn’t deliver for a couple of weeks.
It’s unbelievable the amount of labour expended for such low pay.
I did it as a kid, but now I’m much older and the route is much larger.

Unfortunately the amount I earned does not help with the bills. At all. Just pocket change that I couldn’t pocket.

I guess I should be joyful in that God has blessed me with poverty. THAT’S HARD.😦
