Just an observation based on US Census Bureau statistics
census.gov/ipc/www/world.html -
- Today, the world population is estimated to be 6,547,309,738.
- In 1960, the world population was 3 billion people.
- In 2050 the US Census Bureau estimates that there will be over 9 billion people in the world.
- When Jesus walked the earth the world population was less than 1 billion. ldolphin.org/popul.html
It’s not a question of current population growth being a myth. The fact is the world is already overpopulated. To be more precise, there is not enough land to sustain the current population much less the other members of God’s creation. Just because we can mathematically cram everyone into Texas, it doesn’t mean this would be an intelligent thing to do.
I am reminded of a town on Long Island, NY that had enough forest to sustain a herd of 50 deer. Because humans had eliminated the natural predators, the deer herd grew to 500. Some deer became a menace invading people’s homes, some were sickly and some starved to death.
When I read about gangs from the inner-city and the violent life they lead, I wonder how much is due to the stress of the innner-city situation - just like the deer.
Just an observation.
