Do they just invent headlines in the U.K.?/
QUOTE]

No more than in any other country in my experience, and I’ve lived in four different ‘Western’ countries including the US.😃
Right you are. In America we invented the term “yellow journalism”, which now has just been shortened to “journalism.”

Its called Phenol (phenolic acid). I use it in my office in minor surgical procedures quite often.

It is one of the active ingredients in Campho-Phenique.

To extrapolate from Padre Pio using Phenol, to the claim that he used it to fake his stigmata, only proves just how demonic the main stream media has become in its attacks on the Church and its saints.
Can you expand a little on what you mean? Would this chemical have been unlikely to produce the stigmata wounds as the media is claiming?

Since many people don’t read the whole story and only the headline and first two sentences it creates sensationalism. The uneducated believe, the unbelievers celebrate, and the believers know better.
Beautifully stated.

Why is that??
Bearing a stigmata to the best of my knowledge does a saint not make, they look for miracles.

Not sure if it’s miracles during the persons life or those attributed to their intercession. (IE; someone was healed after praying to that Holy person)

Which is sort of contradictionary as praying to them when they are alive would seem weird., so CORRECTION, I assume they’ve passed on. 😊

Padre Pio is recognized as a saint because of his sanctity. His stigmata, while an interesting biographical detail, are not essential to this.
Well yes of course…maybe I miss understood what the poster meant…I thought he meant because he had a stigmata he couldn’t be a saint…

🤷

I will calmly wait for the Vatican’s explanation of this.

This author wouldn’t be the first one, to claim that they found the information in Vatican documents, only to have shown they lied.

Remember, Cornwell’s, “Hitler’s Pope?” He too claimed that he had used Secret Vatican documents to write his book. However, the Vatican has centuries of experience with frauds and knows how to expose them. The Vatican Archive register showed that Cornwell never went into the Secret Vatican Archives as he claimed, but merely went to the Vatican Library, where all the documents there are available to the general public, and contain nothing not already known about Pius XII. The Vatican requires all visitors to register themselves, and every document they look at, is recorded.

It will probably be shown that this writer never visited or requested documents from the Vatican Archives. Even if he did, the register would show his name and when he requested them for reveiw.

So, be calm

has procured from the Holy Office “four small pages” (addressed to whom, it doesn’t say) written in 1960 by Pope John XXIII blasting Padre Pio for sexual misconduct, supposedly caught on film.
Does this guy think everyone had digital cameras in 1960 like today’s YouTube society??

:yup:

I can just see St. Padre Pio’s face now and what he would say to this unbeliever about the real pain he suffered for 50 years!!! 👍 I hope the Padre kicks him in the seat of his pants!!!😃

“Love the Madonna and pray the Rosary, for her Rosary is the weapon against the evil of the world today.” Saint Pio of Pietrelcina

who deliberately mutilated himself with acid to give the appearance of bearing the stigmata of Christ, according to evidence to be published next week.
Now isn’t that something…wonder how he explains the fact that the so called self mutilation disappeared before his death? Next he will accuse him of practicing plastic surgery without a license.

The medical evidence at death would be hard to fake.
Doctors:
When the doctors examined the dead body in the cell, they found it to be without a drop of blood left in it. He literally spilled it out in imitation of Our Lord on Calvary.

Another marvelous thing found by the doctors was that the wounds, through which you could touch your fingers, were completely healed and no scar was left whatsoever - a sign of the resurrection that was taking place following the end of the crucifixion.

I highly doubt that carbolic acid would cause the extensive bleeding seen from the Stigmata.

Not to mention it is a poison and would have killed him years before his death if he had used it that much. The guy is really reaching for this one.

The author of this book needs an emergency operation on his head.

My understanding is that there must be 2 miracles (while the person is alive is fine or after they have died) BUT then a 3rd miracle AFTER the person has passed on and the Holy See begins the process for cannonization is also required.
