As an additional point, as a Scotsman, would you say my country doesn’t exist, seeing as we don’t yet have full independence?

What does independence have to do with existance?

There is no, nor was there ever, a Palestine.

I’ve asked twice for their flag, anthem. president. Why do you ignore that?

Do you support the Tamil Tigers? The LRA?🤷

That flag was the internationally recognised flag of Palestine, of the internationally recognised Government of Palestine, at that point in history. I believe there was even a Palestinian national football team, with players from both communities.

There is no direct comparison here between the use of the Saltire versus the use of the Union Jack. This flag was only used in Palestine, which was then under a British Mandate.

The USA boasts about how it’s so pro-Israel and yet when 7 out of 10 Israeli people say they want a Palestinian state, the US is against them?

Amin al-Husayni was the closest thing to a President there was at the time. Palestine was governed by the Arab Higher Committee of which he was the Chairman.

I already said why. The Israeli’s want a Palestinian state, but the government doesn’t. The USA is therefore pro-Israeli government, but not pro-Israel. If America was pro-Israel, they’d be against the government and in favour of the people

Americans are more pro-Israel than the Israelis, it seems. 🤷

In reality, of course, it’s just that some Americans think they know what’s best for everyone. In fact, they know what’s best for you better than you do. DOesn’t exactly seem in line with subsidiarity.

Your argument is baffing. You compare the Palestinians to the Tamil Tigers, a false comparison, by the way, because the Palestinians are a demographic group, not an organizaton; better compared to the Tamil people. Now, the Tamil people, in Sri Lanka and in India, do in fact have seperatist groups. What it worth noting, however, is that they are acknowledged as seperatist groups. They are, as claimed by India and Sri Lanka, Indians and Sri Lankans respectively. They have Indian or Sri Lankan citizenship.

The Palestinians are not in this situation. Israel does not accept or claim the Palestinians as its citizens. Nor, however, does it allow them their own country. They are by force put between the only to long-term tenable states of existence.

You repeatedly say that there are no Palestinians. They don’t have a flag, or an anthem, ergo they do not exist. Again, however, no people ever had a flag, an anthem, or a president (or King) before it had a state. That’s the whole point. Palestinians do not have a state. They want an anthem, a president, and a flag. Your argument is what? They don’t have a state, ergo they shouldn’t have a state.

I don’t care what you call them. They exist. There are over 4 million of them. What qould you call them? And what would you have them do? If they are not Israelis, and have no right to Israelis citizenship, then what? They are not Jordanians; for, you define Israel, retroactively even, as the ladn that would eventually be formed into what is now the Israeli state, first in 1948, then after Israel seized land from its neighbors in 1967, and took several more slivers of land over the past 44 years. So Jordan will thus be defined as the ladn that would be allocated to the kingdom of Jordan in 1921. These 4 million people who you deny exist did not live in that region. They lived in what is now Israel, and most of their descendants now live in the West Bank or Gaza.

Whether or not they are culturally distinct from neighboring Arab societies is irrelevant. When Israel rejected them as Israelis citizens, Isrtael created them as a people, much as Japanese society created the Buraku by denying that they were Japanese, though the latter were not concentrated in e small section of Japan.

The fact is, if you go to Gaza or the West Bank, I assure, you will find these people there. There are millions of them. They do exist. You can pretend they don’t, perhaps because you don’t want them to exist anymore, which bothers me, but they do. They are real people, created by the same God that created you or me. And they have as much a right to life and freedom as you or I do.

God willing the Israelis will soon take back their country from that nut Netanyahu. They should remember that he was the one who stood in front of a crowd carrying posters comparing Yitzhak Rabin to a Nazi, and he edified them. Much as we here about the great civility of the right in politics on this forum, that has to be the worst poolitical insult ever delivered. To portray a loyal, patriotic Israeli Jew like Rabin to a Nazi, a man who would later die for his country at the hand of an extremist rightist, is unthinkable. And Netanyahu didn’t say anythin; he just assented. If I were him, I would’ve withdrawn from politics forever after rabin’s assassination in shame, from some of the things he said about him. Given the utter failure of the Likud’s tenure thus far, though, we may hope that they will be out of power soon enough.
