Intersex is the modern term for hermaphrodites. Many intersex find the term hermaphrodite to be offensive due to cultural negative connotations with the word, so this is the new term.
Of course, words carry positive or negative connotations. But sometimes the change turns out to be worse than the original term. I think the substitution of “gay” for “homosexual,” for example, does not take into account the many same-sex attracted people who are not so carefree and happy, but anxious and depressed. Still I understand the need to get away from clinical terms and those that have traditionally been used unfavorably.

With regard to the OP’s question, why deny sexual variation, including attraction and behavior? The behavior may be regarded by many religious beliefs (though not all) as immoral and sinful, but it still exists, whether by nature and/or learning. What’s the point of pretending it doesn’t exist, as some do, just because one believes it sinful? After all, many of us believe sinful behavior exists.

Oh Gee what are intersex people I’ve never heard of that either…lol 😃
Intersex is anyone who is neither clinically male nor clinically female at birth and/or adulthood other than by medical intervention. (If it’s by medical intervention, it’s transgenderism.)

Hermaphroditism is one form of intersex; one of the less common forms.

Technically, there are several other expressions… individuals who are anatomic females but lack a vagina and/or uterus. Anatomic males lacking scrotum and/or testes (remembering that the testes don’t descend until age 2-3, typically). Genetic males without external penis (a not uncommon situation in certain areas of Brasil, whose penises and scrotum develop at puberty).

Certain issues of extra chromosome expression result in intersex individuals, others are not obviously genetic in origin.

Note that, until the late 1980’s, it was standard procedure to assign gender to intersex individuals, and surgically intervene, within weeks of birth. It’s now standard to assign gender, but not surgically adjust them other than to ensure a working ureter and anus.

Oh thanks now at least I’m caught up on new lingo 😉

I suppose I identify as an ally, then! And I hate that people try not acknowledge that which is different. Yes, homosexual acts are sinful… but the people who have the attractions are just as real as those who identify as heterosexual.
While I am happy to see this attitude in you, that is not the definition of an ally. Allies support LGBTQ* causes such as same-sex marriage.

I don’t identify with pansex but I believe consenting adults should be able to do use their pots and pans any way they wish, provided it is in the privacy of their own bedroom…or kitchen.

👍
I’m mad that I just got that now T_T

Well as a gay man who doesn’t deal with stupidity this thread is disgusting and was directed here by my offended pansexual friend. The way I see it gender and sexuality should be the persons choice however they were born. Lets not forget that sex and gender are different. Sex is the parts you were born with but gender is how you view yourself and a personal choice. My sex is male because I have a penis and my gender is man because I see myself is a man. Saying that altering a humans gender identity is immoral or against nature is wrong because by doing so you are, in my eyes, infringing on their humanity.
As to sexuality that is not a choice and from experience I think its just a part of your personality that develops as you grow up and Im sorry but saying that its ok just not right to act on it is basically handing out a compliment and then snatching it back again. The first time I had intrest in a guy I was weirded out and tried to deny it for a long time until one day I maned up and took a chance. It turned out horrible and he was not interested but it still felt good just to be able to admit it to myself. And on my journeys through life Ive encountered a lot of people with a lot of sexualities some who act on it others who try and suppress it. Spoiler: it never works and usually comes out in different ways, in my case almost ending my life and that is not natural at all.
So basically if you want to be a girl but your a guy, wear that dress; if you are a girl who just doesn’t feel comfortable as a girl, wear the pants. If you are a guy walking down the street and you see another guy that gives you the butterflies in your stomach and the rock in your pants, go talk to him or ask him out; if you’re a girl and you see a smoking hot woman dancing in the club, buy her a drink and ask her to dance. Gay, Straight, Pansexual, Asexual, Bisexual, Cisgender, Transgender, Intersex, and anyone else i failed to mention, we are all human and have no right to judge each other as superior.

I can fall in love with anyone is what it means. It is not a fad. How can a fad make me love a she male is beyond me. Must be a strong fad. I am married to a full man, jus sayin though
As long as you exercise continence and it doesn’t cause some issue with your husband, I don’t see where there is an issue with anyone else. 🤷

Not everyone who agrees with you can automatically assumed to be working in your best interest, you have to admit that…I mean as a general premise.

Gender and gender identity are not the same thing, particularly if gender identity is defined as a personal choice instead of an unchangeable aspect of the person’s psyche. I can see where it is possible to have neurologically-based sense of identity that will not reconcile itself with those exterior physical attributes of the body that are at odds with that identity, but why it is inherently offensive to consider gender as something immutable instead of a matter of self-election is unclear to me. 🤷

On account of instances where gender dysphoria is deep-seated, however, the Church permits surgeries on people with gender issues such that it is deemed that there is no other way to relieve their suffering. The Church does define gender in keeping with physical attributes, however, and does not alter its records to coincide with surgical re-assignment. (Changing a prior assignment given to someone born with ambiguous gender attributes would be a different story, however, according to my understanding of it.)
