Parents of Gay Children, having "the talk"

The fact is that the Catholic Church doesn’t really have a place for homosexuals except to suffer alone and silently.

They cannot marry.
They cannot become priests.
They cannot adopt.
They should not live with a same sex roommate. (Near occassion of sin/scandal)
They should not live with an opposite sex roommate. (Scandal)
Look around on these boards and see just how many people even go so far as to say that homosexuals should not even be allowed to work with children!

So basically, they are told: “There is really no way around it, you must be alone. And of course, god would never call someone with your temptations to lead others! Oh no, not that. And please be careful, almost anything you do will look bad to others.”

I don’t know what the church’s solution to this should be, or if they even see a need for one. It doesn’t bother me much though. 🤷 The gay people who want more will leave the church, and those who can be happy in those circumstances will stay. It’s a personal choice.
I agree this is a big issue. It is part of a bigger issue which is that the there is no longer a place for single people which in term is part of an even larger issue and that is that the people have forgotten that celibacy, including lay celibacy is superior to marriage. The people have forgotten that the bond of true friendship is stronger than that of marriage because it transcends death.

To me, it flies in the face of “respecting their intrinsic human dignity” or whatever the wording is. If your vocation is written on your heart, if it is something to be discerned, if it really is a lifelong calling, then telling someone: “You are attracted to X, so regardless of your thoughts, feelings, attitudes, actions, beliefs, or anything else that might be relevant in determining whether or not you’d make a good priest-it isn’t an option. Sure, any other sinner can be one. But not you. Not even if you never act on your attractions” strikes me as cruel and dehumanizing at best. And totally contradictory to how people should be treated.
Well said, well said!

Back to my original post, this is the exact reason why there MUST be a change in the church. There, I said it.

I have Gay friends and family. And according to the Catholic “law” I posted, they are called to chastity. And according to that “law”:
  1. The Church will never recognize their Gay Marriage as natural, real, or beautiful. Instead, like their homosexuality, it’s intrinsically disordered. 🤷
  2. If you express yourself through sexual intimacy and “make love” to your partner, you are committing a grave sin. Yet when straight people do it, it’s the most beautiful expression of love there is. (Hypocrisy supreme)
  3. You can only have platonic friends.
Ok, this makes me really upset and it’s the reason I feel as passionately as I do. If I’m lucky and blessed enough to get into Heaven, I’d be happy to explain my case to God. Gay people and Straight people ARE THE SAME! Their LOVE is the SAME and they fall in LOVE the SAME way!

To suggest otherwise is to be oppressive and bigoted…because:

They, obviously, and many many more people gay and straight believe there is nothing wrong with being homosexual.

From a psychological perspective: (5 more reasons)

  1. Homosexuality is a normal variant of adult sexuality; gay men and lesbians possess the same potential and desire for sustained loving and lasting relationships as heterosexuals, including loving and parenting children. This is supported by hard data, not just opinion.
  2. Discriminatory marriage laws deprive gay and lesbian couples of over 1000 federal rights and benefits
  3. Deprivation of these benefits has demonstrable negative psychological and social impact on same sex couples, their children and families.
  4. Change and adaptation make for a stronger and psychologically richer society
  5. Same sex couples can teach heterosexual couples how couples in relationships lacking gender based power dynamics often solve problems and make decisions with more respect and mutuality.
  6. Ending discrimination enhances the human spirit and makes all our lives better.

Glad to see the testimony from someone with same-sex attraction determined to live in accordance with the truth. Here is another who goes by “Joe K.” and usually comments at Ed Feser’s blog:
He sums it up perfectly.

It is nice to read someone who “gets” it.

That’s another red herring. Would you advocate for rape to be accepted by the Church (and not punished by society) b/c it would make rapists less depressed and suicidal? What matters is whether or not the act in question is immoral, not whether the people who want to do the immoral act would be less depressed if we all pretended the act in question isn’t immoral.
It’s not about pretending the act isn’t immoral. My family considers homosexual activity to be immoral. I know that, and I always have. I also believe that, and I do my best to live a chaste life. I still needed acceptance from them. Not of homosexual sex, but of me.

I spent my childhood hearing derogatory things about gay people. From family. From church. From society. How we’re all going to hell. How weird we are to have such attractions. Comparisons between us and pedeophiles. That we don’t belong in civilised society… all the stuff that is said on this board.

When someone who is SSA attracted hears that, they don’t hear “people who have homosexual sex are”, they hear “You are”. That’s what I heard. Because it’s said about people who are attracted to that lifestyle just as much as it is about people who actually indulge. I might choose to be chaste, but I would love if I didn’t have to be. Our Lord says that those who have lusted in their hearts have committed adultery. There thoughts not just their actions. I am just as guilty now as any actively homosexual is and when they are attacted personally (and that happens a lot) then I am been attacked. I’ve learnt not to take it personally with age and experience, but when I was young and vulnerable these things hurt.

I needed acceptance from my family because I needed to know they would still love me. I needed them to stop with the derogatory remarks about homosexuals. I needed them to stop asking me when I was to get married and have babies. Perhaps if I hadn’t heard so many attacks against homosexuals when I was younger I wouldn’t need this acceptance of this less than ideal side of me. I needed them to stop with the attacks they didn’t even realise they were doing.

It is possible to show acceptance to someone who is SSA, whether active or not, without accepting their behaviour. Perhaps though if Christians stopped attacking to start with, homosexuals wouldn’t be so militant about been accepted. They’re just responding to an attack.

  1. Homosexuality is objectively disordered, not intrinsically disordered. It is wrong insofar as it is the desire for something intrinsically disordered namely gay sex, the being attracted to and loving someone of the same sex is okay.
  2. Calling hetero sex “the most beautiful expression of love there is” is not hypocrisy, it is heresy.
  3. Marriage is not about love, it is about making babies. Note the complete lack of requirements relating to “love” and the requirement for potency.
  4. Where is 4?
  5. No comment
  6. I think marriage laws need to be reworked as other meaningful relationships are currently excluded from benefits.
  7. Agreed

  9. Same sex couples with kids bear a fair bit of resemblances to heterosexual couples in terms of division of labor as it is simply more economical.
  10. No comment

I have Gay friends and family. And according to the Catholic “law” I posted, they are called to chastity. And according to that “law”:
It’s not Church law primarily, but Divine Law under the 6th commandment. One might as well say the Church must change “Thou shalt not kill.”
  1. The Church will never recognize their Gay Marriage as natural, real, or beautiful. Instead, like their homosexuality, it’s intrinsically disordered. :shru
Because they aren’t natural, real, or beautiful and can never be so by wishful thinking.
  1. If you express yourself through sexual intimacy and “make love” to your partner, you are committing a grave sin. Yet when straight people do it, it’s the most beautiful expression of love there is. (Hypocrisy supreme)
The most beautiful expression of love is Our Lord’s sacrifice on the Cross. The fact that you think the most beautiful expression of love there is is sexual in nature speaks volumes. As much as people chaff when I mention pedophilia, it’s unavoidable because what apologists for homosex are doing is making an unprincipled exception. They have no grounds for condemning one but not the other without being arbitrary, appealing to eroding secular laws, or relying on the hollow doctrine of consent.
Again, this isn’t love, this is lurv. Saying you love does not justify wrong, even if well-intentioned acts.
To suggest otherwise is to be oppressive and bigoted…because:
There is no oppression and bigotry in the Truth
They, obviously, and many many more people gay and straight believe there is nothing wrong with being homosexual.
There are also many people who think there is nothing wrong with looking at pornography, but that just means that are many people who are wrong.

Wrong and irrelevant.
  1. Discriminatory marriage laws deprive gay and lesbian couples of over 1000 federal rights and benefits
Descriminatory marriage laws deprive man-boy sexual relationships of over 1000 federal rights and benefits. Again, same-sex “marriages” are not real things and cannot be made real by legislative fiat.
  1. Deprivation of these benefits has demonstrable negative psychological and social impact on same sex couples, their children and families.
Living lies has negative psychological and social impact on just about anyone.
  1. Change and adaptation make for a stronger and psychologically richer society
This is so vague as to be meaningless.
  1. Same sex couples can teach heterosexual couples how couples in relationships lacking gender based power dynamics often solve problems and make decisions with more respect and mutuality.
Irrelevant Politically Correct gibberish.
  1. Ending discrimination enhances the human spirit and makes all our lives better.
Ending unjust discrimination enhances the human spirit and makes all our lives better. Not recognizing same-sex whatchamacallits is no more unjust discrimination than the US Government refusing to recognize me as Napoleon is unjust discriminiation.

  1. If you express yourself through sexual intimacy and “make love” to your partner, you are committing a grave sin. Yet when straight people do it, it’s the most beautiful expression of love there is. (Hypocrisy supreme)
No, if a heterosexual couple performs the same physical acts that you are talking about for a homosexual couple, that also is gravely sinful (at least objectively speaking, though in some cases the couple’s culpability may be reduced – and of course the part about culpability is also true for same-sex couples).

The key here is that homosexual couples are not really performing the marital act, because that act requires both a man and a woman. So the acts that you identify here as grave sin are not the same acts as what you identify as a beautiful expression of love.
But biologically speaking, same-sex couples can’t physically express that love in the same way. And that is a fact of biology, not a question of ideology.
To suggest otherwise is to be oppressive and bigoted…because:

They, obviously, and many many more people gay and straight believe there is nothing wrong with being homosexual.
What do you mean by “being homosexual”? Do you mean having an inclination or attraction or orientation, or acting on that inclination/attraction/orientation?

Nevertheless, what “many, many” people believe does not determine what is right and wrong. And obviously, there are many, many people on both sides of this issue anyway.
  1. Homosexuality is a normal variant of adult sexuality; gay men and lesbians possess the same potential and desire for sustained loving and lasting relationships as heterosexuals, including loving and parenting children. This is supported by hard data, not just opinion.
Having a desire for something doesn’t automatically make it right. However, homosexually-oriented people most certainly CAN have loving and lasting relationships, and there is nothing wrong with that. But as you said, those relationships should be celibate.
  1. Discriminatory marriage laws deprive gay and lesbian couples of over 1000 federal rights and benefits
Marriage laws deprive ALL non-married couples (and groups) of benefits that are granted to married couples. This includes not just homosexual couples, but also polygamous groups, polyamorous groups, cohabiting couples, adulterous couples, two adult brothers or sisters who room together and share expenses, and so on. But there are legitimate reasons why the law treats married couples differently from any of these other types of unions. And these laws that treat married couples differently do not single out homosexual couples.

“Hostility to homosexuality may be justified as the teachings of God, prophets or scriptures – along, of course, with biblical injunctions against shaving, eating shellfish or submitting to the authority of women – and anyone has the right to follow them. But actions based on those beliefs should have no particular privilege and, if illegal, the fact that the person undertaking them believes in the Almighty should be no defense.”

At the end of the day, much consideration should be given to this principle; namely that what harm, if any harm, do you suffer or sustain, by virtue of the law allowing gay people the right to get married?

Conversely, can you appreciate the harm and hurt which gay people from not being able to exercise their wish to get married?

The text of St. Matthew runs as follows:
Code:
Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are the meek: for they shall possess the land.
Blessed are they who mourn: for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after justice: for they shall have their fill.
Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the clean of heart: for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Blessed are they that suffer persecution for justice' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
When you start to focus on heaven and eternity, so many things that seem important on this earth just fall away, and rightly so.

Mother Teresa was never a priest. She never married, never had children. She walked with her God and fulfilled the plan He had for her life. This is our choice as well, to make the decision to walk with God every day, and what an awesome thing this is!! To never be married, never have children, never be a priest, has been the chosen life of many saints through the centuries. St Francis of Assisi wanted to walk intimately with God and we will remember him through the centuries yet to come. They found the pearl of great price. To never marry and have children is not an ugly, awful, joyless life. What is ugly, awful and joyless is a life without God.

Lift your eyes and aim higher.
Blessed Mother, Queen of Heaven, pray for us!

Sin hurts the entire Christian community. There is no such thing as a “private” or “victimless” sin. Homosexual acts are contrary to natural law. Not even God can change or dispense from natural law. By their very nature, they are not, nor can they be, life-giving. Consequently one of the primary goods of marriage, by its very design, is defeated. (In the case of sterile heterosexual couples, the sterility is due to a design flaw, not the natural design of their bodies.) On top of that, I would question, what harm does it do to people with SSA NOT to be married or NOT to be in a relationship? Not having sex never killed anybody. Not being married doesn’t kill people, either. Marriage does not guarantee happiness, nor is it a requirement for happiness. LOTS of people are not able to get married, for a variety of reasons. Marriage is a privilege, it is not a “right”.

For the record: I AM married (to a man; I’m a woman) and I don’t see “gendered politics” in our marriage. In fact, I would say that same-sex marriages are harmful to children because they don’t see the complementarity of men and women played out through marriage and the raising of children. Consequently a child of a same-sex couple could, potentially, have trouble being married to a person of the opposite sex because he/she has NEVER lived with a heterosexual couple, or seen the day-to-day family dynamics of a heterosexual family. Gender exists; you cannot deny that. Men and women are not the same. They are different - for a reason. They are intended to complement each other. Trying to have a “gender-free” society is contrary to what God intended and can lead to serious issues because people may find that their innate desires go unfulfilled because they’re told “you can’t be a real woman or a real man; there’s no such thing”.

Who is this quote from? In any case, it begs the question in that homosexual acts are a sin can be characterized as “hostility”. Does one call the 5th Commandment hostility to murder? It’s absolutely wrong of course, but calling it hostility is a sleazy tactic to imply that the objection is emotionally based rather than reasonably based. It also invokes the “Shellfish fallacy” --that Christians are cherry-picking from the Bible–which is born from shameful ignorance of Scripture. And finally, since the Church teaches that unjust discrimination against homosexuals is forbidden, it’s a strawman.

At the end of the day, much consideration should be given to this principle; namely that what harm, if any harm, do you suffer or sustain, by virtue of the law allowing gay people the right to get married?
First off, “allowing gays to marry” is a lie that many libertarians sadly fall for. The government isn’t some neutral party, it isn’t “allowing” it–it’s full-on lending formal support and cooperation with evil. As far as harm, we’ve already seen innocent believers in true marriage harassed, fired from their jobs, threatened with academic expulsion, and in one case, a woman had to flee the country with her biological daughter because a court insanely awarded custody to her creepy ex-“spouse” with no biological connection to the girl. Even at the most basic level, the harm is pressure to endorse lies.
Conversely, can you appreciate the harm and hurt which gay people from not being able to exercise their wish to get married?
The harm and hurt only comes when one stubbornly refuses to live according to the Truth.

Well if a married couple wishes to avoid children they will have to abstain for a large portion of their lives together. So it isn’t as if there is all that much sex for heterosexuals either.

The fact of the matter is that everybody will have to learn to live a chaste life and for the vast majority of people that will involve long periods of abstinence. Abstaining isn’t easy whether it is for months at a time or years at a time makes no difference. In fact celibacy is easier in many ways since the desire usually dies down after you starve it long enough.

I also find it odd how you pretend there is nothing to do if you can’t have sex. It’s as if you think you will lead a drab, dull existence if you don’t fulfill every desire. There are still loads of things to do in this big beautiful world of ours even if you’re unable to have sex.

Hey, theCrow, I’m kind of curious what you think of what I posted… Could you give some feedback?

I only ever come here as a “lurker”, to keep up to date with Catholic news and general ultra-orthodox/theocon opinion (I teach RE within a Catholic School) but at long last, I’ve signed up to comment.

theCrow, I’ve seen you post a few times already and you seem like a fairly reasonable individual open to debate and thought. As a “practicing” homosexual, an ex Catholic and a Theologian here’s some advice.

Don’t bother.

The vast majority of Catholics, 53% very much in favor of SSM judging from the latest Pew Report may be open to reason and debate, but the ultra orthodox (“True Catholics” depending on which section of the arena your sat in) you will find here are not.

The core base of Catholicism is anti-debate and as you’ve probably noted by this point anti-reason (that half baked nonsense touted as “reason” and “intellectual tradition” by the likes of Chesterton is clearly to any impartial mind anything but). Many Catholics have accepted this, the core die hard center has not.

Really, leave them to it. The louder and longer they scream their bigotry the more people will come to hate them 🙂 If you need any proof of this just turn to Westaboro Baptist church, they’re utterly loathed by everyone and have shrank into oblivion without a hand raised against them. There is no need for an “Communist plot” or a “gay agenda” to attack to the Catholic Church (if there ever has been such a plot, I very much doubt it, that assumes there is anything that valuable worth attacking which to the non beliver there isn’t), it does a mighty fine job of incriminating and damaging itself by statements like “gays are like pedophiles”, “women are the lesser vessel”, “there is no salvation outside the Catholic Church”. It’s it’s own worse enemy, extremists always are unless you’re one of those poor souls blinded by it or too scared to speak out.

When a lunatic approaches you in the street and states somethin utterly ludicrous as “Lesbian Sex is the equivalent of Zoophilia” do you listen to them? I’m sure you don’t.

Once upon a time there was a need to rationalize and debate with Catholics, Fundamentalists or any other form of religious extremist to secure basic rights we take for granted today like freedom of religion (or ireligion) and freedom of thought but today there isn’t. They are a minority in society, 90% of sane individuals recognize them for what they are and don’t award any credence to them. They don’t even have any power in society any more, nevermind a united front within their own ranks.

And as to the original topic and as a homosexual who did indeed recive “the talk” from a devout Catholic…It’s not possible. Let’s review the points as mentioned by Blueeyedlady.

According to the Catholic Church…

I cannot marry: I can marry another woman certainly but how cruel would that be? Knowing, or even worse being deceived to think that I have any form of sexual desire for her when I really don’t. That’s not a loving relationship by any measure, it subjects the woman to the indignity of being a mere baby factory. Only a true supporter of patriarchy and one with an utter disregard for women would suggest that to me.

I cannot become a priest: According to a decree the Pope Emeritus this is quite true, it is forbidden for a male with only homosexual attractions to enter the priesthood. Until this point I know of a good many Catholics who tried to coerce homosexual relatives into joining the priesthood for fear of shame. It was thought the only place for them.

I cannot adopt: Since I am the intrinsically disordered and innately evil who would suggest entrusting a child to my care, even presuming I did marry a woman? If history is anything to go by (take Oscar Wilde for example) I would have any children, adopted or biological taken away from me by “Good Catholics” for the safety of the childs soul.

I cannot live with another man: Because this is an occasion of sin and scandal, like I am some sort of wild nymphomaniac who will pounce on and mate with anything in sight.

I cannot live with another woman: Again, also an occasion of sin and arguably an even bigger scandal. Perhaps people are frightened I may turn straight, who knows.

But I think we should also add to this talk…

I cannot work with children: Because again, I’m a sexually depraved morally evil pervert apparently.

I can have no opinion on theological matters: I noted on many occasions while I was studying my Masters in Biblical Scholarship that my opinion on the texts was worthless to many of the other students because I am homosexual. Being morally evil, how can I possibly do anything morally right without being hand led by “good Catholics”?

I cannot play sports, go swimming or use public changing rooms: Again, because I might pounce on and rape someone in the Church’s line of thinking.

Really. It won’t be in the next few years, or even in the next couple of decades. Sooner or later though something will give and it wont be reasonable society. The Church will change its stance, or quite frankly it will collapse in on itself with no outside help.

This has been repeated a few times but there isn’t any truth to it. It is true that gay man who had not succeeded in living a chaste lifestyle for several years prior would not be admitted to seminary but there is nothing stopping a chaste gay man from entering.

You’ve clearly not read though the link you’ve shared with me 🙂 A single or occasional homosexual thought doesn’t bar someone from the priesthood because that does not make someone a homosexual.

I couldn’t possibly testify to it, I’ve only ever been attracted as long as I can remember to other males but I’m told that some hetrosexuals do occasionally once in a blue moon feel a bit of lust or somesuch to the same sex. This to me sounds more like a mild bisexuality to me, but the individual is predominately hetrosexual.

Having continual homosexual impulses, i.e: Never a heterosexual one DOES bar you from the priesthood. By the same token, a gay man who every now and then looks at a woman is not hetrosexual, he is a “deep seated” homosexual and barred from the priesthood and many religious orders as well.

All candidates have to undertake celibacy before consideration, this is not unique to homosexuals. What is however is that by only or predominately being attracted to men does bar them.

Welcome to the board, Rixx! Unfortunately, your first post seems to be just one straw-man argument after another. Why do you attribute views to the type of Catholics who frequent this forum (“ultra-orthodox/theocon” Catholics, to use your term), when most of us do not actually hold those views? Is it because you truly think that we hold those views? (And if so, what is your basis for thinking that?) Or are you just trying to score rhetorical points?

Finally, if you are so angry at the Catholic Church (as you seem to be, based on some of the things you wrote), then why do you teach religious education in a Catholic school?

Thanks you, although in truth I’m not that suprised you’'ve said that. Please, correct me if I said anything wrong.
Why do you attribute views to the type of Catholics who frequent this forum (“ultra-orthodox/theocon” Catholics, to use your term), when most of us do not actually hold those views?
Because while the views are not universal I have been watching a few threads for some time now, and I have noted a number of…Let’s call them controversial opinions ranging from homosexuals being a threat to children, Catholicism should be the only religion accepted in society, people who attack women on their way to the abortion clinic are worthy of praise…All iconic features of the Theocratic right.
Is it because you truly think that we hold those views? (And if so, what is your basis for thinking that?) Or are you just trying to score rhetorical points?
Unless some of this forums members are lying or openly trolling I’ve no reason not to take their stated opinions at face values as to what they belive.

As for RL I work in a Catholic School 😉 My head of department and fellow RE teacher are all too fond of telling me how I am worthy of death and eternal torture forever for my crimes against nature. I’m rather relived that most of the staff and none of the students I have encountered share their fevour While this isn’t church teaching, Catholic institutions are generally as welcoming to homosexuals (especially married ones like myself) as a KKK rally is to Catholics.
Finally, if you are so angry at the Catholic Church (as you seem to be, based on some of the things you wrote), then why do you teach religious education in a Catholic school?
Angry? Oh not at all, I’m not the least bit upset with the Catholic Church. Saddened perhaps by how of touch it seems to me, and it’s really quite painful watching it destroy itself with the really quite hurtful and hatefilled PR it’s been promoting in the US and Africa as of late. In secular Britain it really has no impact or power over my life whatsoever. At worst it’s a white noise in the background. Perhaps I might be more resentful were i barred from marriage or from living my life as it currently is but I have no such bars in my path so I’m quite content.

I’m sure the Catholic Church isn’t content with my current lifestyle but I can’t say I really care, I think it’s wrong and it’s entitled to its opinion, however wrong I think it is.

As to why I work there, it’s just a job 🙂 I’d teach at a Muslim or Secular school if they offered to pay me more.

Thanks you, although in truth I’m not that suprised you’'ve said that. Please, correct me if I said anything wrong.
If you want me to, I could try to go through point by point if I have more time later. In general, it seems to me that you are attributing quite a few teachings and beliefs either to the Catholic Church or to Catholics which are not accurate.
I have been on these forums on and off for quite a few years. And I think I can safely say that none of the views that you mentioned above are held by most of the people who participate here. (If you want to find out for yourself, you could post a poll.)

I also am not aware of any such movement as the “theocratic right.” The majority of posters here are from the U.S., and I think that most of us agree with our First Amendment’s prohibition against the government establishing a religion.
Unless some of this forums members are lying or openly trolling I’ve no reason not to take their stated opinions at face values as to what they belive.
I’m sure some members do believe some wacky things, such as the examples you gave. I don’t believe however that those are typical beliefs of people here.
I can’t speak to the experiences that you have had with people at that school. It does seem like a strange situation though. You openly oppose Catholic teaching, and your head of department thinks you are worthy of eternal torture, but nevertheless you teach religious education in a Catholic school. That seems like quite a contradictory situation. Well, it’s none of my business, unless you happen to work at the Catholic school that my kids attend, in which case I would have some definite concerns. (Not because you are a bad person or because anything is wrong with you, but because I think that religious education teachers, like any teachers, should believe that what they are teaching is true.)

The problem is that your parents explained two states of life without clarifying that there are other states of life. So you see only one or the other.
Have you ever been instructed at mass to pray for vocations to the priesthood and religious life? I have.

Have you ever been instructed at mass to pray for vocations to married life and for those discerning marriage? I have.

Have you ever been instructed at mass to pray for vocations to “other states in life”?

So suppose you are a young man or young woman and you’re told that you must pursue “other states in life.” Yes, “other states in life,” i.e., miscellaneous, we can’t be bothered to categorize this because there’s nothing else we can say about it besides “grow close to God!”

So, there’s something fundamentally wrong with you… but you’re welcome here. We don’t have a role for you to play in the life of the Church… but we love you. We’re gonna have to make some comparisons between you and pedophiles, but no, seriously, we really love you. Bahahaha!

I’m not an advocate for homosexual sex or homosexual marriage by any stretch, but it occurs to me that saying there is a place for SSA individuals within the Church is, as George Costanza might say, “just something you say.”
