This is actually a very common fiancial situation. I’ll give you two that I know of.People give donations to the upkeep of the church and its priest etc…
To make them pay to use the church is daft in itself or this thread wouldnt be on going.
- Our local Lutheran parish uses the auditorium at the local public high school every Sunday for services. Even though the high school is paid for by tax dollars, they still have to pay rent to the school board for using the facilities one day a week.
- My parish has relgious. The deal between the Order and the bishop was for two priests. The Diocese pays the Order a salary for the two priests. But the Order has assigned three other friars to live in that house. They do not work for the parish. One is the superior of the house, but not the pastor as he is not a priest. Another is a mental health counselor. The other is a handyman. The Order pays the parish rent for the three additional friars that live in the house, even though one of them is the pastor’s superior. I’d hate to be the person who does the book keeping trying to keep all of this sorted out.
