At the very least, using the term “Trump army” shows a complete tone deafness to our country’s current situation.gracepoole:![]()

Very telling words… unless “peaceably” has a different meaning to me and to you…peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
Well, If I’m assembling peaceably with hundreds of my neighbors, and a few violent people attack the police, I’m still peaceably assembling, aren’t I?Very telling words… unless “peaceably” has a different meaning to me and to you…
I think they are looking at rebuilding/recreating the police department along the lines of the British model of more community and less guns in your face. I don’t know if that will work, but it seems from what I have read that they have real problems in Minneapolis, many of which stem from the union and its interference with real reform.I guess Minneapolis is saying it will get rid of the police force and do some “alternative” thing. Maybe neighborhood vigilantes? I imagine MS-13 would probably be happy to fill the gap.
No. You are now a passive participant in a now non-peaceful crowd.Well, If I’m assembling peaceably with hundreds of my neighbors, and a few violent people attack the police, I’m still peaceably assembling, aren’t I?
They’ll have to attempt to disarm the populace and, since criminals will still have guns, tolerate a lot of officer deaths.I think they are looking at rebuilding/recreating the police department along the lines of the British model of more community and less guns in your face.
I can’t totally agree with that. I have no control over other forces doing nefarious things. I still have the right to peacefully assemble.No. You are now a passive participant in a now non-peaceful crowd.
Do you read sources critical of him? I ask because they often raise questions about the many other human lives being negatively impacted by this president. I’ve asked before on the forums what people are willing to accept in exchange for the anti-abortion rhetoric that sounds good coming from Trump. Frankly at this point, it seems the answer is “everything.”gracepoole:![]()
He could embrace abortion. He could oppress the Little Sisters of the Poor. He could do a lot of things, but frankly as long as his opponent is going to be full bore for abortion, I’m not sure he could deter me from voting for him as long as he didn’t become an abortion supporter too.Is there anything he might do that would deter you from voting for him? If so, what?
Grace, I’m serious about this. I realize people will call me “single issue” and many have. But if I was in Nazi Germany in 1941 and COULD vote against Jew-killing, I would do it no matter what else the Nazis promised.
And I’m serious in saying I see no difference between the Holocaust and abortion-on-demand as it is in this country. This country has sold its soul and any bit of it that can be gained back is a good thing even if at the hands of a rude man.
Nearly every day. It’s unavoidable.Do you read sources critical of him?
That expression is used constantly in law enforcement. It means being proactive rather than reactive. Perhaps he should have said “be proactive in enforcing the law”. But that would have been attacked too, so I don’t know that it matters much.is this acceptable to you? You raised the specter of the Nazis. Do you realize the significance of a president using language like “dominate protestors” and spreading out unidentified policing forces throughout a city?
We must have viewed different videohave seen the Buffalo video. The police were walking by the man and he gets in their face. It looks like they barely touched him.
What would you do to end abortion? Would you protest? Violate a curfew? Lay down in the middle of a street? Hold up signs with graphic images on them? Picket outside the White House if the president does not support your position? Be tear gassed? Be shot with rubber bullets?I don’t find the assembly of these law enforcement people ominous at all. What I do find ominous is the continuation of these incessantly out-of-hand confrontations and the participation and direction of them by anarchists and revolutionaries.
If that is true, then your angst is misplaced. You should be concurrent in blaming the instigators in the midst of the assembly for causing this. (as Trump has). You should be angry at the instigators as it is they who put everyone in this situation.I can’t totally agree with that. I have no control over other forces doing nefarious things. I still have the right to peacefully assemble.
You can’t take away 1st Amendment rights simply because some people won’t be peaceful.
Apples and Oranges… All Law abiding gun owners are not actively involved at the time of illegal crimes. As such, your analogy is disingenuous. Instigators and peaceful protestors were together in this specific action. No-one is calling to end all 1st amendment guaranteed assembly rights nationally. Actions are taken where they occur and when needed.I’m sure you’re in favor of the 2nd Amendment even though some people abuse it and do bad things with guns.
