I think that individual parish’s are set up now to give individuals choice but I have no idea how this would apply to a national level, or international level. If this thread could cause such contention among people that are normally polite to one another can you imagine the problems any definite guidelines would cause?

Until this comes about(who knows maybe it will) we just have to respect one another’s parish’s rules.

It would be interesting to start a thread discussing what such definite rules would be, but then again we would all probably just get angry with one another.😦

It would be a Catholic dress code in every sense. If individual parishes are to have their own dress codes should they also be allowed their own codes on Lenten penance? Sunday obligation vs say Thursday obligation? Where is it to stop?

I think in this case it’s a society that has the dress code not just a single parish.

I am also home sick with the flu. So I know about the extra time thing. It’s good to hear from all of us here. Speaking about dress and appearance… Thank God that there’s no web cam on my monitor…😃 😃 😃
 
I will pray that we don’t let SOCIETY set the DRESS CODE for Churches. It saddens me that there are so many people that have so little respect for themselves that they dress to bring attention to their sexuality and their beauty.
 
I recall the time I had genuflected after Mass and upon looking up before rising was confronted by the sight of a quite shapely pair of legs rising up to the bottom of a very short hem and about a foot from my eyes.

Very tough to miss or ignore.

Most impressive and quite disconcerting.

While not the worst thing that can happen to a man, it immediately brought my mind around to more, erm, mundane considerations than the just completed Mass.

Ladies, I love you to death but give me a break please! I spend enough time in confession without your help.

As a CCD teacher, I find my students lack of modesty and common sense to be a distraction. I’ve seen everything from death metal t-shirts to wildly immodest clothing on both sexes and it can be frankly scandalous.
