Sadly, the entire incident is another case of a facade covering up Christian hypocrisy. Obviously there was something very dysfunctional in this “good Christian” family. I have lived in the South for several years and this hypocrisy is so prevalent. Usually it isn’t so extreme. Look at the Methodist students who burned down all of the Baptist churches. :bigyikes:

Look at the clowns who go to military funerals with their “God Hates Fags” signs. :tsktsk:

Maybe these Protestants need the Sacrament of Penance to really see their own faults.

Please, this is not particular to the South so be careful what you say. All Christians are sinners, wherever they live. The South does not corner the market on fake (take Hollywood, for instance). How about some of our larger cities that run rampant with murder statistics?

Catholic Dude:
Did they believe in OSAS?
no, once saved always saved is not a belief of the Church of Christ. Can she sincerely repent and ask for forgiveness? Yes. And as well all know only God can judge a man’s (woman’s) heart, and forgive.

You’re right that the South doesn not corner the market on fake. But they do seem more hypocritical than other places. There are clearly many more churches in the South, yet the sin is the same level as other areas.

As for crime in cities, that one is simple and has nothing to do with religion. TOO MANY PEOPLE. :bigyikes:

I think we can safely say this wouldn’t happen in Catholicism, unless the local Priest has decided to sin.

Truly shocking story. 😦
As much as I understand where you are going with this comment… I have to say…

My priest is married. He was an Episcopalian priest, married, four boys… he had a conversion of heart, converted to Catholicism, petitioned Rome… under the blessing and guidance of Rome and his local Bishop, he became a priest. Still married too. He can keep his wife (the Church isn’t going to demand a divorce) but if she preceeds him in death, he can not remarry.

Just wanted to share that. 😛

but this is a sad story…

If you even think this you need to stop saying it. I feel you are insulting many people due to where they live. That is just plain wrong. How do you personally measure the level of sin? Your post is rather bizarre. And your explanation of crime in the city is silly too. Too many people? Not all cities have the same level of crime and I doubt if there is any study that could substantiate any of your claims. Consider dropping this line of argument, for it sounds bigotted.

Oh, I completely forgot about that scenario. Which is odd, as the Church of Ireland was the first to ordane female priests, and so, there were quite a lot of conversions of Church of Ireland priests to Catholicism, where they were allowed to keep their families.

I do stand corrected. 🙂

And I do want to state that it was not my intention to cause any offence by my earlier statement.
