Pastor Ticked at Billy Graham

National Clergy Council president Rev. Rob Schenck (pronounced SHANK) walked out on his role model Billy Graham after the evangelist surrendered his microphone to Bill Clinton on the third night of his New York City crusade, then gave a veiled endorsement to Senator Hillary Clinton who was sitting nearby on stage.

According to the Associated Press, when Bill Clinton joined him on stage, Graham “quipp[ed] that the former president should become an evangelist and allow ‘his wife to run the country.’”

Rev. Schenck has considered Billy Graham his role model for over 25 years. That’s why the Capitol Hill minister traveled from Washington, DC, to New York City this weekend to witness what may be the ailing evangelist’s last crusade. But after he saw the Clintons exploit the aging Graham, he couldn’t bear to stay and hear him preach.

“I was stunned and appalled,” said Schenck, who left the Flushing Meadows Park as Graham was still complimenting the Clintons.

“This was a deliberate, cunning, purely political move by the Clintons to divide the Evangelical vote and assure Hillary of a victory in '08,” said Schenck, a minister with the Evangelical Church Alliance and a missionary to elected officials.

And your point is what?

Reverend Schenk is upset because of an apparent endorsement, from a man he greatly admires, for a couple that supports many things at odds with Evangelicals(and Catholics for that matter). So yes, I suppose he wouldn’t have been upset with an endorsement for someone like President Bush.

However, having not seen the actual comments on tape, I think there is a possibility that some of them were made in a light-hearted manner that went along with the mood of the whole event; not really serious but just those kinds of things people say to be nice during times like those.

He does have the right to express his opinion while I and others have an equal right to question that opinion in light of the facts regarding Billary & Co.

This action by Mr Graham has erased most of the respect I ever had for the man. I will also pray he realizes his error and apologizes.

If Mr Graham wants to have dinner with Billary and teach/bear witness that would be wonderful.

I do not read where Jesus recommended a leader for the country, nor where he did not call for a conversion of heart.

To use this passage as a justification for Mr. Graham seems out of context. Eating with sinners is different than praising their sin.

Love the sinner, hate the sin - yes, but do not confirm the sinner in his sin.

Why does ANYONE care what Bill Clinton or any former President has to say on any subject?

I really have never understood why people care what they think, their job is done and they are not experts at anything. I don’t get it (but then again I don’t get why people care when any celebrity has to say).

Because Billary continues to try and impose their liberal beliefs upon on our nation. Senator Billary is certainly going to run for President and already has a postition where she can inflict much harm upon our nation. This is why I still care what they do or say.

I don’t think they’re almighty at all. I think they’re evil people who should be observed, read, studied and never underestimated. How Billary became the junior senator of New York, for instance, is one of many reasons I feel the way I do.

If you and everyone else has the right to their opinion, then Billy Graham has the right to his opinion. I honestly think it’s just an easy way out to say “We are allowed to say he is an idiot for what he did because it is our opinion”

The “facts” are of a biased view from an article. Things are written in a perspective to make one appear the enemy and the other appear to be an aging senile man.
