OK so people of different demographics can’t relate? I guess I should just give up since you say one thing, then contradict yourself and when I point that out you ignore the post.
Which have I ignored? Though I answered all, but maybe not per you.
Back to where this started. I don’t believe Romney’s wealth, or Obama’s or Biden’s or Ryan’s for that matter mean anything with respect to their ability to understand the people of the United States no matter what their financial situation.
Okay.
We have some common beliefs, a common culture, a government that was based on a particular worldview. There is a big difference between Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness and Liberty, Fraternity and Equality. My belief is that Romney, Ryan and even Biden ascribe to the AMERICAN philosophy whereas Obama I believe is far more comfortable with the tenants of the French Revolution.
You were kind enough to correct my spelling. I’ll return the favor. It’s “tenets.” 😃
(Meant humorously; I’m not trying to put you down!)
Equality has NEVER been our objective, other than equal rights endowed by our Creator.
With you so far. One only has to read our history to see that equality hasn’t been part of the American experience (to a great extent).
OTOH the French, the Left and IMO Barack Obama has a strong desire to reduce America in such a way that people’s standard of living (well except for the elite) should be more equal and that is more important than what I think are the American values of being masters of our domains and our destinies.
Well, yours is one view of it. Who is it who proposes that American values equal being masters of our domains and our destinies? Haven’t heard it put that way except by you.

American values “Life Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness” is not Obama’s focus. He is a believer in redistributing OPM. He seems much more comfortable promoting the French Revolution (without the guillotines) than the American. I maintain this is the result of his frankly un-American upbringing. Between his foreign father and stepfather, living in an Asian/Muslim culture, his associations with Communists, his mother’s very obvious Leftist philosophy, her disdain for American values, the abandonment by both parents; all created a stew in which he was formed. As a result I truly do not think he can relate to Americans with traditional American values (clinging to our God and our guns!!!).

I think Romney’s, Ryan’s, or Biden’s financial situation is irrelevant when thinking of how they can or do relate to Americans. I think all were raised with relatively traditional American values.

As to “master of our domains etc” it was just a turn of phrase. Our freedom is the freedom to pursue happiness, to pursue success and frankly the freedom to fail. For the Left, their desire for equality of RESULTS above all is the complete opposite of what we think of as freedom. They want to “level the playing field” but that means kneecapping the ambitious in order to let the lazy keep up. I cannot relate to that at all.

Romney with all his bucks and his too beautiful family is far more like the average American whether he’s carrying a briefcase or a lunchbucket than Obama could every be.

You don’t like him. Do vote, then, for Romney. As for your celebration of the 2nd Amendment, fine, but I as a liberal rate the 1st and 6th Amendments as of higher importance than the right to go about strapped.

Your “we” is the “we” of the right wing. So be it, but it is a “we” that I reject. The right wing is not the norm.

His “too beautiful family”? Are Michelle Obama and the Obama daughters so ugly?

Romney never carried a lunch bucket in his life, and you sound too-close-to-fawning with that paragraph. It does not become you in my opinion. You are too intelligent, I think, to be a Romney groupie. 🙂

Flattery will get you nowhere. I am a great admirer of Mr Romney. I supported him in 08 and thought he was by far the best of the group. McCain was fourth on my list but I held my nose and voted for him.

You are right, I have ODS. Obama Derangement Syndrome. I think he’s wrecking the country and must be stopped. I try to withhold my fury at the thought of the man and what he’s already managed to do with the complicit Congress. Obamacare/DoddFrank absolute disasters. I think finally the people are waking up from their slumber and seeing what a mess has been created by this man and his Leftist ideas.

The reference to “clinging to guns and God” was not any personal hierarchy of Constitutional Amendments. It was as I sure you know, a comment by Obama off mic.
I don’t have any personal feelings about the 2nd Amendment other than if people don’t want it they need to get rid of it instead of trying to make carrying guns illegal. It’s not a personal crusade. I am a lot more interested in states rights and getting the federal government back into its intended functions…which does not extend to picking lightbulbs or paying for bad artistic endeavors.

I don’t know what characteristics you deem “right wing” so hard to respond to your comment. I think most Americans do believe in Life Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness and most would reject the French ideals. I don’t think it’s left or right wing but American.

The reference to Mitt Romney’s bucks and beautiful family were not intended to be a comparison to Obama and I don’t know why you tried to contrive a comparison other than to annoy me, which you did. I don’t think Mr Obama is attractive at all. He is effete and weak looking. The girls are cute, the dog is cute, Michelle is shall I say, imposing. The point however was to say that there is more to Mr Romney than good looks and big bucks. Sorry you remain unimpressed but it’s your life and may you find someone you admire as much as I admire Mitt Romney.

Thoughtfully and nicely answered. As to your final comment, I admire a number of people most of whom are not politicians. I certainly don’t admire Obama and Romney wouldn’t be my choice for dogcatcher. But, that’s me. As for those I do admire, Cardinal Dolan of New York comes to mind as a for instance. Also, those nurses who work in hospice care. I could go on, but I think you get the idea. Take care!

Enjoyed Michelle Malkin’s article on VP Joe Biden. I hope questions are asked of the VP about his job of over looking stimulus spending.

“Missing in Action: Stimulus Sheriff Joe Biden”

michellemalkin.com/2012/10/10/missing-in-action-stimulus-sheriff-joe-biden/

excerpt from her article:
Remember when President Obama bragged about Joe Biden’s fiscal discipline cred in 2009? “To you, he’s Mr. Vice President, but around the White House, we call him the Sheriff,” Obama warned government employees. “Because if you’re misusing taxpayer money, you’ll have to answer to him.”
Fast-forward to 2012. Call in the search teams. Since being appointed the nation’s stimulus spending cop, Sheriff Joe has taken a permanent donut break. He’s AWOL on oversight. In fact, he’s been bubble-wrapped, boxed and kept completely out of sight. The garrulous gaffe machine hasn’t sat down for a national media interview in five months.
The Democrats’ trillion-dollar “American Recovery and Reinvestment Act,” however, keeps piling up waste, failure, fraud and debt. Who benefited most? Big government cronies.
According to Investor’s Business Daily this week, a new analysis by Ohio State University economics professor Bill Dupor reported that “(m)ore than three-quarters of the jobs created or saved by President Obama’s economic stimulus in the first year were in government.”…

excerpt from her article:
Along with that, Joe Biden was supposedly added to the ticket because of his “foreign policy expertise.” Must be the Obama administration’s secret weapon as I haven’t heard him speak on the subject since he suggested dividing Iraq into three countries. The moderator is a foreign policy specialist apparently so I expect some questions to come up, particularly with respect to Ben Ghazi.

By coincidence, CSPAN featured a re-run of the Biden/Palin debate. As I had remembered, Sarah Palin held her own and some thought she won—probably given the low expectations they felt if she didn’t dissolve into a drooling puddle she succeeded. Whatever you might say about Sarah Palin, when the chips were down she came through. Interesting comment about how people could barely afford gas…given it was half the price then compared to now…I wonder if Paul Ryan can turn back his own comments on him. I am sure they have watched the debate while strategizing for Thursday!

It shall be no surprise that the moderator is also a personal friend of the Obama’s. They were guests at your wedding. I will admit that it is nearly impossible to find a mainstream media moderator that is not biased towards Obama.

Yes and the former hubby of moderator was a classmate of Obama’s, both on the HLR and he was tapped for the FCC by Obama. Incestuous place is Washington DC! The funniest thing is that the MSM is trying so hard to kill this story even though as you said, it’s a foregone conclusion that regardless or in spite of the old school tie, the Obama ticket will be protected if possible. This is hardly going to be a revelation to the RR side. Radditz might well feel especially pressured to help Obama out after the disaster last week.

From your second reference:

President Barack Obama was a guest at the 1991 wedding of ABC senior foreign correspondent and vice presidential debate moderator Martha Raddatz, The Daily Caller has learned. Obama and groom Julius Genachowski, whom Obama would later tap to head the Federal Communications Commission, were Harvard Law School classmates at the time and members of the Harvard Law Review.

Yikes! Nobody at ABC knew about this well beforehand?

I would say that they all knew. Or are really slackers.

It is not right for her to be moderating a debate when she personally knows Obama. She should be replaced

Romney has yet again changed his position on abortion. At what point does good political strategy become plain deceitfulness. If one claims abortion is the main driver for their vote, are we just to ignore this strategic move back to the center? Otherwise, as I suspected, it’s more of a hate for Obama that is the driver not the actual policies.

Romney: “I don’t - there’s no legislation with regards to abortion that I’m familiar with that would become part of my agenda.”

Ryan told reporters that he’s ready to face Vice President Joe Biden tomorrow in Danville, Kentucky, calling Biden’s greatest weakness “Barack Obama’s record.”
“Sure, it’s a nervous situation,” Ryan said of the debate, attempting to lower expectations on his performance. “because Joe Biden is one of the most experienced debaters we have in modern politics.”

Ryan: Romney’s Position On Abortion Hasn’t Changed
Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan Wednesday defended Mitt Romney from charges that he has changed his position on abortion.
Asked outside of Old Farmer’s Creamery, where he ordered ice cream before flying to Kentucky in advance of tomorrow’s vice presidential debate, Ryan maintained that "our position’s unified” when asked about difference between he and Romney on abortion policy.
Asked what Romney’s position on abortion is, Ryan said “I’m sure you’ll see in these debates,” declining to elaborate.
Asked if he was upset by Romney’s statement to the Iowa paper, Ryan replied again simply, “No position has changed, our position has been very consistent.”

There is already a thread on this.

I would just like to point out that the current holder of the office of president of the U.S. is worth about 16 million dollars. Doesn’t that make him one of THEM? Sorry if this has already been addressed. I didn’t read many of the posts on this thread - it appears to be wandering off track anyways.
Obama has made clear he doesn’t feel he should be paying less in taxes than middle class, blue collar workers. He wants to increase his own taxes and believes that it is necessary to strengthen our economy.

The majority of this thread is about Romney and Obama. Probably because other than Ryan’s budget and his religious affiliation, he has no real significance in this race.
