Hey CMatt, do the Nuns on the bus have good foresight or what? While everyone was talking tax returns and who said what about whom, they seemed to have had the insider scoop from somewhere!
They sure do! Maybe Paul will join them if Mitt can’t. 🙂 I know Sister Simone was explaining the other day what Ryan is missing.

Rumor is he is going by his actual full name for the campaign, Ron Paul Ryan in an attempt to court the more libertarian wing of the party. We’ll how it plays.

Nice! Ryan is a solid pro-life catholic. My only issue with him is that he will likely cut my pay if given the opportunity as a federal worker, not that anybody cares about federal workers being as overpaid as we are. In fact, I’m biting into one of my gold bricks right now.

Ryan also strongly supports big defense budgets. Not sure that is a good thing or not. But he’s way better than Obama.

Romney just handed Obama the senior vote on a silver platter.

What a moronic selection.
I don’t know what you are talking about. I am a senior, and I am so glad Paul Ryan is against senior rationing. His plan will save the lives of seniors. Obama put seniors on death panel. Only seniors who don’t know the truth will vote for Obama. They don’t know voting for Obama is voting for their own death.

This was not a wise decision for Romney. He needs independent votes to win the election. He already had the Conservatives in his pocket.

I’m hoping he has pulled a “McCain” here.
I think it was a great pick to stir the base more and keep them in his pocket. But I agree with you about the all important swing vote which is why I voted not a good choice. Might get a bump at first and after the convention which is not unusual. But we have to wait and see how it plays out after both parties’ conventions. I’m hoping too Ringil. In addition I voted not a good choice because his political views on Christian social justice issues regarding the poor and sick simply do not square with mine whatsoever.

You don’t say…

Not if you listen to conservative talk radio. The majority of hosts and callers have been lukewarm, at best, for Romney.
Yes but they’ve haven’t been able to stand the idea of Barack Obama as POTUS since the day he was elected. They would turn out for Romney regardless. I see posts on CAF all the time where people say Romney might not have been their first choice but because of Obama they’re voting for him. 🤷

I know today’s announcement made me sit up and think again about why that that budget has been the focus of the tour…Guess it’s not too much to hope that Ryan listens.

Most of them are on nice pensions or 401k. I would have hope that with the long lives and the many years of worked they would have been able to save up 😃

Now I understand not everyone got that chance and for those who were responsible with their money but yet came short I see no problem in government assistance.
And for those who may have made mistakes along the way, you see no problem kicking them to the curb?

Ryan has said he rejects her philosophy
“I, like millions of young people in America, read Rand’s novels when I was young. I enjoyed them,” Ryan says. “They spurred an interest in economics, in the Chicago School and Milton Friedman,” a subject he eventually studied as an undergraduate at Miami University in Ohio. “But it’s a big stretch to suggest that a person is therefore an Objectivist.”
“I reject her philosophy,” Ryan says firmly. “It’s an atheist philosophy. It reduces human interactions down to mere contracts and it is antithetical to my worldview. If somebody is going to try to paste a person’s view on epistemology to me, then give me Thomas Aquinas,” who believed that man needs divine help in the pursuit of knowledge. “Don’t give me Ayn Rand,” he says.

Paul Ryan’s world view brings this election front and center as to what kind of nation we are going to be going forward. One still with some empathy for the less fortunate and those in need. Or one that would be willing in such a severe way to balance the budget on the backs of the poor and the sick while continuing to benefit the rich with further tax cuts. I can only say good luck everyone.
There is no empathy in regards government social welfare. Empathy, like compassion, comes from the individual. Government is not compassionate. It can’t be, because nothing is done out of the goodness of anyone’s heart. That requires free will, and not being compelled. There is no compassion on the part of the politicians because they compell others to “donate” to the poor. There is no compassion on the part of the taxpayer because they are compelled to give, whether they want to or not. There is no understanding of compassion on the part of the recipients because they know of points 1 and 2.

What is remarkable to me is the belief that you have to support the government doing something to be compassionate or empathetic. Taxpayers don’t have a choice, and politicians buy themselves a dependent constituency on which they rely for reelection.
As a result, I think it could be said that not supporting government social programs may be the compassionate thing to do.

So he says, but when you hear this paen to Ayn Rand, it makes you wonder…

End medicare line was debunked by left leaning PolitiFact who called it pants on fire, false and made it lie of the year 2011

I am a senior citizen and I am encouraged that Mr. Romney has picked Mr. Ryan.

Great choice! Good luck and God Bless you both and God please bless the USA,
