I responded to this earlier by saying as a senior myself, I am glad Paul Ryan is against “ration” of Obamacare which denies seniors’ treatment. BUT my post was deleted. It happened before that I talked about ration and the entire thread disappeared. What is going on??? hush hush for the truth?

One poster even used cherry picked verses to support individualism. 😦
I remember a wise old pastor who once said that you can use the Bible to say anything you want to say. Thank God for the Holy Spirit, the Church and its teachings to help us know what’s actually Scriptural.

I saw it earlier but I also no longer see it. I also cannot quote your post so I am reproducing it via Copy/Paste. What is going on?

:amen:

It just amazes me that the arguments are always which candidate ‘must’ be supported, based on abortion and gay issues; then when this thread started, some immediately gave a sense of ‘rejoicing’ over the evils and possible end of medicare, medicaid, and social security.

Ryan’s pro-life record seems to be about the only conservative thing going for him.

Or is it?

See this interesting article, “Congressman Paul Ryan Latest to Call For Truce on Pro-Life, Social Issues” here lifenews.com/2010/09/20/nat-6701/.

Hmmmm…
Thanks for posting this!

As with all Republican politicians with national ambitions, there is ALWAYS something more important.

I’d say ending legal abortion is priority #11 in Romney/Ryan’s top 10.

So are you three standing in the echo chamber there voting for Obama, or what?

I hope Ryan can serve two terms as VP and then two more as President. The problems of our country need more than one Reagan to reverse. The entitlement attitude will take at least an entire generation to forget. The one misgiving I have is that the House will lose its premier budget expert.

From your lips to God’s ears:thumbsup:

You agree that Ryan should reverse exactly which entitlements?

Do you consider what has been paid in, with explanations it would come back in future years, an entitlement?

Depends. I have read that with Social Security, for example, was started at 65 because people died on average at 66. And that after a couple of years of collecting, you’ve used up what you put in. I’d like to see figures that confirm or debunk that, if anyone has them.

I need to see a lot more before I’m convinced of this…he may not be a card-carrying Objectivist (few are) but his policy prescriptions certainly exhibit the Randian influence.
If you are not convinced by Ryan’s words I do not think anything would convince you

Thats alot more dead babies… anyone BUT obama.
Ryan is a poor choice. As I mentioned in an earlier post here Romney has a dismal track record as far as organized labor goes and Ryan is just as bad if not worse. Even tho’ he is not running for President, Ryan’s selection as VP does nothing of me and thus I will remain committed to supporting President Obama in the election.

LOL :rotfl: Oh swell. So after basically the entire Republican Party embraced the Ryan budget now he and Romney are going to come up with another plan. How convenient. Perfect timing. And just what America needs.

Americans already wonder which Romney would show up if elected. And now they’ll have the same with Paul Ryan. Will the real Paul Ryan please stand up will be the question as it already is with Romney. Now they’ll have to worry which version of both of these guys would actually appear when it matters. 🤷 And surely they know Obama’s Medicare cuts were more towards Medicare Advantage private programs and doctors. Not so much to the beneficiaries or future beneficiaries. And that most beneficiaries are not on the Advantage plans.

I’m not going to be buying into the new “make Paul Ryan’s budget look kinder and gentler” version. I’m pretty sure they’d be beholden to the Tea Party and far right extreme wing of their party in any first term if they wanted to get a 2nd. I only need to look to see how beholden Romney has tried to be to them thus far.
Romney is the presidential candidate and why wouldn’t he want to co author and be part of creation of a budget and add his insight

Do you know that the Ryan plan was co authored by democrat Sen Ron Wyden

Did you know that he’s not as socially conservative as he’s made out to be? Look at this:

“…he’s notably further to the left on the issue of lesbian, bisexual, gay and transgender rights than the base of the party. He broke with a lot of his party to support the Employee Non-Discrimination Act in 2007. He explained his reasoning for the vote in this way: “They [his gay friends] didn’t roll out of bed one morning and choose to be gay. That’s who they are.””

Paul Ryan is a fantastic and courageous choice by Romney. It is the first time in this electoral cycle that I am in accord with Romney. Rasmussen’s poll regarding favorability is disingenuous alomg with many other biased polls from this group. The overwhelming response from the heartlands and the East Coast is of positivity for Paul Ryan.

I have to comment regarding Gen X and Y’s, antipathic statements regarding baby boomers refusing to retire and ‘demanding’ the entitlements they have paid into. It sounds like you want them to simply go away and die. This echoes the philosophy of obama and his cohorts and it certainly shows the prescience of Pope John XXIII’s encyclical, Humanae Vitae wherein he commented on the slippery slope of a loss for respect of all human life when birth control pills were introduced. Be careful what you wish for because this same rule will be mercilessly applied to you sooner than you think.
