Majority rules except in Tea Parties. The conference votes and if the majority is for something they make a statement that includes everyone. You are searching for a reason to go against the Conference of Bishops. You can go against the poor and the Conference of Bishops if you wish that is your choice.

Jesus taught to help the poor. The Bishops tell us to help the poor, but the conservatives believe Paul Ryan and Ayn Rand are to be followed by helping the rich and take from the poor. Conservatives who can’t listen to the Catholic Bishops will listen to no one except a Republican.
This couldn’t be farther from the truth

How many Bishops are opposed to the HHS mandate?

5th request.

You seem to have the mistaken idea that we can fullfill our obligation to help the poor by voting for someone who promises to take someone elses money and do it for you.

Conservative give far more to charity than liberal do. For liberals its easy to be charitable with other peoples money

Here’s novel idea. Rather than trolling the thread with the same lies over and over, how about you give other posters who have responded to you with numerous links and citations with your own refutation?

Spamming the thread shouting the same post that has been debunked is wasting everyone’s time, and if your goal is to convince people you are right, you are failing by doing so.

You are more interested in typos than helping the poor. That is okay it is your choice.

How do the Bishops rule regarding abortion?

Gay “marriage”?

The HHS mandate??

What happens is a lot of people come here and are, for the first time, are exposed to what the Church actually teaches. We give them direct quotes from the Vatican and Member of the Magestrium and they suddenly realize they can not reconcile their politics with what the Church actually teaches. Some. like myself some 30 years ago, change their political allegiances. Some leave the Church.
And many reconstruct a “Church” which cannot be reconciled with any form of Catholicism, be it modern or traditional.

A fourth group uses warnings of a particular clergyperson (merely reminding Catholic laity to ensure that a particular proposal not oppose Catholic social doctrine in its final form), or Religious Sisters not in communion with the Vatican who wholeheartedly support certain anti-life Democratic policiies – to establish that this contorted unofficially and privately named “Catholic” viewpoint is important to reflect in voting decisions. But when challenged on how very thoroughly unCatholic those positions are, they merely retreat to the heterodox position that we need to keep Catholic views out of the public square.

So they really show in their postings that they want it both ways: They want a private and inauthentic interpretation of Catholicism when it suits them, and when called on their ignorance, they prefer to deny the constitutional right of every Catholic, and the moral obligation of every Catholic, to apply orthodox Catholic priorities in voting.

Hey, it works for them. 😉

I am interested in helping the poor not useless numbers so you can go against the Bishops conference. It is your choice to vote for someone who does not care about the poor or the middle class and only acres about the rich and money. It is your choice. Listen to the Republicans they will show you the way to heaven if you believe in money.

Lying about something isn’t a typo; it’s a lie. Don’t get frustrated because you got called out on your false information.

Seriously, just respond individually to the posts refuting your notion, or quit posting. You’re clogging my screen.

Is that supposed to be proof of anything?

I would challenge, for instance, someone to come up with a quote from a member of the magestrium that is as critical of the Republican party as this is of the Democrat party:

*At this point, the Democratic Party risks transforming itself definitively into a “party of death” due to its choices on bioethical issues, as Ramesh Ponnuru wrote in his book "The Party of Death: The Democrats, the Media, the Courts and the Disregard for Human Life."And I say this with a heavy heart, because we all know that the Democrats were the party that helped our Catholic immigrant …

Cardinal Edmund Burke*,
All our bishops, the conservatives as well as the liberals, are members of the Magisterium, but not everything that a bishop says is magisterial. Cardinal Burke’s words are to be taken very seriously indeed, but he is not infallible simply by virtue of his belonging to the Magisterium…

Listen to Democrats and they will lead you to believe that the way to heaven is if you believe in other people’s money.

The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) said Tuesday that the budget cuts on entitlements, supported by Republican politicians ahead of the vote on a reconciliation package for the 2013 budget, are immoral because they would hurt the poor.

The bishops reminded the House of Representatives in a letter to be mindful of their moral responsibility as lawmakers tasked with protecting the most vulnerable citizens, especially the poor. Congress is currently struggling to come up with a way to alleviate the drastic automatic cuts that are bound to kick in at the end of the year.

Jesus taught US to help the poor. Jesus did not teach that government should take from one and give to another. I’m not sure if this is applicable to anyone here, but simply paying your taxes does not equal charity. Paying taxes is rendering unto Caesar. Giving to the poor of your own free will is rendering unto God. Sometimes I think we forget this.
