No, I believe you said that you work to pay my cable bill and that I shouldn’t even be afforded that luxury. WOW, is all I can say.
No. You are reading too much into what I said. I implied that if you are having issues paying for your food and your cable, that you should forgo your cable as it is not a neccessity.

This is judgement that many people make every day.

Thank you, Robert. At least my posts aren’t completely lost on others.

Like you, I haven’t had a raise in years because of the poor economy. I’ve had to scale back in certain areas to prepare for the worst.

Sorry PJ

HEARTS ARE HARDENED HERE!

I never said I was for Obama. Get the facts sweetie!!!
I didn’t say you were for Obama either. 🤷

What does that have to do with hearts being hardened anyway? My heart is just as loving at it always is. I can always use more help from our Lord, but I don’t feel the need to become a religious bigot in order to demonstrate my love for the poor. 😛

Ryan is not proposing any cuts to Social Security, so your point is?
Oh come on Republicans have talked for some time of wanting to cut govt SS by privatizing it too along with Medicare. But anyway since you obviously missed my point, my point was government benefits of whatever kind can help those in need.

The thread is about Ryan, and you questioned Ryan’s acceptance of survivor’s benefits as somehow hypocritical. He is trying to save Medicare and is not proposing changes to Social Security. Being in favor of certain benefits from government does not mean that you have to favor “benefits of whatever kind.” That’s just plain lazy thinking!

Again, more fear, uncertainty and doubt.

Many of the proposals I have seen from the GOP allow people to opt out of the system. So, to say that SS and Medicare will go away is 100% false.

Is privatizing it the same as cutting it? Privatizing is just correcting the moral failure of FDR to set up a sustainable system. In our current system we take from people who work and give to people who don’t work. That will last until working people get fed up.

Robert… As I said… The DNC has been accusing the GOP of wanting to do away with SS and Medicare/Medicad for at least the last 30 years. This hasn’t happend yet, even though we have had GOP controlled Congress and/or the presidency.

And, many of the proposals I have seen either allow people to opt out and/or have modified the retirement age since life epectancy has gone up.

Lastly, in the case of Medicare and Medicad, nothing has been done to address the root causes of medical costs.

You implied that working people are paying for my tv. Hilarious. If we had a tough winter we often have to forgo the luxury of cable was my point. Where you get off insulting me so is beyond me. Telling me what I should do as if you know me and my situation. Now you’re backtracking because you know you were wrong. And I forgive you. Peace

And it will collapse as the number of working people decreases and the number of people claiming their benefits increases.

CMatt25 does not realize that the simple math does not work out. But I guess he’s ok with his kids and grandkids being worse off than he is, since he will have his benefits.

Exactly. Making changes, such as privatizing, to improve our safety nets is not the same as removing those nets. The counter arguments are sleazy, emotion-driven pleas that never address the fiscal crises these programs are creating (or have created…depending on your perspective).

People have said for the last 30 years that the GOP would take away your benefits, and this hasn’t happened yet, and we’ve had many years of either GOP contolled Congress or Presidency.
The Republican Party hasn’t always been the far right extremists they’ve become today and there was no Tea Party 30 yrs ago. This yr is different if Paul Ryan were to somehow become VP, and if the House were to remain in Republican Tea Party hands, and Republicans were to gain control of the Senate. While I don’t expect the Republicans to get 60 Senate seats even if they were to become the majority if that were to still matter, but all of this is another reason why I am voting for Obama to assure some checks and balances of their agenda.

Your heart sounds hardened to me. 😉 😛

Actually, privatizing is taking Medicare and putting it on Wall Street. Sounds a little scarry considering

When did I ever try to insult you?

If you’re using the money you’d otherwise spend on food on your cable tv, because you’re getting food stamps, then infact I am helping you to pay for your TV.

🤷

A religious biggot?

Convient how you have not addressed any of my other points with factual evidence, and still parrot that the Tea Party are a bunch of extremists.

Look, the Tea Party was formed to try to bring fiscal responsibility to government since government spendig is out of control.

I also countered this fear-based falsehood about “Republicans becoming extreme right wing” a few pages back. I would direct CMatt to find that post. The only people who have drifted to extreme wings are the left wing liberals. Republicans moved to the middle following the leftward movement and abandoned their conservative principles. Now that they’re resetting to their previously held conservative views that are NOT AT ALL extreme, it is portrayed that way and the perception is skewed by how far LEFT the liberal Democrats have gone.

God bless.

I think people sometimes think they know another’s situation who might not be as financially well off as they might be or in the case of some of the young posters, as their families might be. Even though they are not walking in your shoes. May God continue to bless you and your family DeSanto.
