Matt25:
England has not existed as a separate state for some centuries now. It is part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. To say that England is at war is like saying that California invaded Iraq. The United States invaded Iraq. California is part of the US. The UK has been at war. England is part of the UK.
I learned this the hard way when I first started I dating my wife. She is Welsh. I refered to her as English once and believe me ONCE was enough. I got a quick history lesson!

You know, I worked with the American military in Vietnam, (Training them actually) and we (that’s the other Brits and I) used to watch the Gung Ho attitude of many of them (not all I hasten to add, some were bloody good) that said how they were “going to kick as". Guess whose "as” got kicked and, you still haven’t learnt.
This will be my last post in the thread, and my last comment to you, Sir.

Look over your shoulder, and you’ll see a line of American graves stretching into the distance, men who gave their lives to defend YOUR country in 1917-1918 and 1942-1945, not to mention the American military presence in Europe from 1945 to 1991 to keep the Soviets in check, and the massive amount of material we GAVE YOU FOR FREE in the form of Lend-Lease.

And this is the form of the thanks we get—disparaging comments and arrogance from one of our supposed allies who editorializes a war he was never in.

If you dislike America that much, stay home.

Good day to you, Sir.

And remember 1783—we didn’t lose that one; you did.

I’m currently traveling with a customer who is Irish, and one of my co-workers said, “you’re Scottish, right?” :bigyikes:

I told him he might want to move to a chair further away from the customer…
