Pell appeal lost today

Now another priest in the area was accused and convicted this year of a far worse crime involving children. This priest was popular, loved etc. His crimes were so unspeakable and so out of the blue that many didn’t or wouldnt believe them. Politicians spoke up in his defense. When the time for sentencing came the testimony of those who worked the crime scene was so intense that people got I’ll in the court. I know people who would still bring their kids around him. It’s crazy and to think the US has a better handle on justice or the abuse crisis over austrailia is on of the most dangerous positions one can take.

Cdl Pell has never been what could be called popular and loved. He in fact has been the fall guy for the sins of the Australian Church for a long time trying to balance justice for victims while preserving what is good in our Church. Accused before only of not listening to a victim who complained to him as a young priest in Ballarat. Only problem then was that the Cdl was able to produce passports proving beyond doubt that he was studying in Rome at the time.

More recently he’s been a thorn in the side of the Vatican bureaucrats who did not want the Vatican bank audited and overhauled and his conviction has now stalled that process.

If the crime is to be believed, Cdl Pell is the first peodphile Priest in the Australian Church to have committed a single, very strangely timed crime in a Cathedral packed with church goers, in his entire career of nearly 50 years. At the very least is a bizarre stretch. At worst there is high ranking corruption going on.
