I do not think that is a good idea. It is paying too much attention to her.
That is a Protestant thinking. I have got a private revelation that tells me that something that is against the Catholic Faith is wrong.
I like what you have said here about private revelation superseding 2000 years of Church teaching. I think that we need to realize that this woman is a POLITICIAN first and a Catholic second.

What’s going to be different if she’s excommunicated beyond being told she is not to receive the Eucharist nor take on a parish role of any kind until reconciled? She’s still going to be a Catholic by virtue of her Baptism.
The hope of reform?

When I was very disappointed to hear her remarks on this. Very similar sidestepping of the teachings of the Church as she did with abortion.

I pray for her and all of our leaders.

God bless,
Bryan

Oh, bite me.

Pelosi knows she’s doing wrong, and she has it in her entire power to do what is right. She just wants political power and cares nothing about the Church.

It’s not unreasonable to ask for excommunication. It’s not as if she’s going to repent tomorrow and take everything back. That would be a great miracle. No, she wants her sheep. That’s not judgment or stoning.
I agree except I don’t want her or anyone to bite me:D

Can she be excommunicated, please? Please, please, pretty please?
You’ll have to excommunicate me, also, along with a lot of other Catholics who feel the same way. Charity demands civil union, IMO.

WHAT?Charity Demands that we don’t confirm, condone or give the impression that it dos’nt matter because they "feel"its ok to remain in mortal sin. That is not Charity!

If you feel this way, then why remain in the Catholic Church?
I am not encouraging you to leave the Church, but why stay somewhere that teaches something that you seem to so adamantly disagree with? There are plenty of communities that embrace gay mairrage and clergy. What the Catholic Church needs is unity in the Body of Christ. There is room for difference in opinion, but one of the things that makes us Catholic is submission to the Magisterium of the Church. So get with the program.

It would seem to me in my limited observation of her as a non-American, that she is a formal heretic for a number of reasons. This means that she is already excommunicated latæ sententiæ.

IMO, Pelosi is a rich, self-consumed, sick, socialist biggot that is so power hungry she would argue with the Good Lord himself. A menace to all and she doesn’t even realize it.

Civil union and marriage are two different things. You can support “civil union”, but absolutely NOT “marriage”. Marriage is only between a man and a woman, it is a Sacrament. Please think the difference and not be confused. Do not use the name of “charity” to violate God’s commandment. “Civil Union” is charity, make gay relationship “marriage” is sin. Huge difference.

The Church teaches a lot of things. One of them, one of the most basic, is that we are responsible for our own conscience. I have stated what I believe: Charity demands this.

I actually don’t consider my relationship with God in Christ to be a “program.”

Nothing in the law or proposed law changes in any way the Sacrament of marriage in the Catholic Church. Non-sacramental unions historically called “marriage,” have existed in civil law, a contract between the state and two people. Some people want to define that contract as only being valid between opposite genders. I don’t. The Church is the Church. Everyone else in the society is not required to believe what we believe.

So we should roll back all the different legal benefits that have been bestowed on long term defacto partners?

We should ban people who have been baptized and raised Catholic from ceasing practice of the faith or converting to other faiths? After all, can they really honestly claim invincible ignorance?

What about those who have children out of wedlock? How about we deny them all financial aid or other help even if they’re starving and broke? After all aren’t we condoning their sin by allowing taxpayers to help like they would any godfearing married mothers?

I’m not advocating calling a gay relationship ‘marriage’, nor necessarily bestowing all the legal and other benefits that a heterosexual marriage has - some possibly aren’t even appropriate. But that doesn’t mean that some form of recognition isn’t called for and even overdue.

If you want people to take you seriously, try behaving in an adult manner. “Bite me” is a childish and uncharitable phrase. Some could consider it a personal attack. Plus, it pretty much makes you sound like a child, and detracts from any message you may wish to convey.

I believe that it is against forum rules to question the professed faith of anyone. Including posters who have differing opinions or even Nancy Pelosi. It is especially uncharitable to infer that anyone should leave the Church. You are not perfect, I am not perfect, no Catholic is perfect. We all have issues.

While many of us may not agree with Pelosi or Biden, we still have the responsibility to treat everyone with charity and respect. The Church demands that of us. Lets try our best to keep these discussions on a respectful level.

The “program” part is just a figure of speech. You are right in saying that we are each responsible for our own conscience. When our conscience is in rebellion to God’s Word and Christ’s teachings, then one needs to fundamentally examine that conscience and ask why is it not in harmony with the Word of God.

JM - this is exactly why I came to the conclusion yesterday ,that perhaps it is time for Christians to start calling it Holy Matrimony and start behaving like that is really what it is - till death do us part, in sickness and in health , for better for worse, for richer for poorer. ‘we’ wouldn’t even be considering this same sex marriage as legitimate if God’s intention for the institution of marriage between a man and a woman had been uphled and we had kept our part of the contract with God. BUT with a 70% divorce rate we can not prove that children are best brought up in stable man/woman marriages because of all the damaged children from broken homes and ,like Obama mentioned in his evolution of thought on this, we can see some children in homes of same sex couples who seem quite well rounded and stable…apparently - not that I know of any personally.

While I believe their is a difference between being FOR same sex partner marriage and being of the position that people should be treated fairly and humanely, I think the idea of equality is a vicious misnomer (look what it has done for women). If ‘they’ ( NP and her ilk) truly believe in equality for all ,then why don’t they set a standard tax rate for all, take the same pension, pay , health care, etc as other government employees. Heck why not just set a standard hourly wage for ALL citizens and ALL people are paid according to the hours they work regardless of if it were cleaning toilets or heading up a multi national company overseeing 1000s of employees- that would be equal right?

Now for the REAL devils advocate statement. NP and her ilk are following their conscience it is not their fault that it is badly formed , that is the fault of her parents and the Church, right? So they are not guilty if it is truly what they believe through their ignorance?😃

That must be many people’s mentality, and that is what the devil want them to think.
If this logic can be established, then Adolf Hitler has no crime, no sin because he did what he truly believe was right. He just followed his conscience, his true conviction.

There are few things that repel in quite the same way as the member of the crowd who wanted to stone the woman taken in adultery - whether that particular passage is canonical or not! When the Roman Catholic Church begins to view itself as Christian first and “Catholic” second, it may begin to see that everyone is entitled to a view and that we are all ‘in sin’ and in danger of casting the first stone. What does Christianity teach about seeing a fellow Christian in error “Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother”.
Now for the rest of the story… And if he will not hear thee, take with thee one or two more: that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may stand. And if he will not hear them: tell the church. *And if he will not hear the church, **let him be to thee as the heathen and publican. ***

Isn’t the real issue here that Pelosi is misrepresenting the Catholic Faith? She might be a conscientious dissident, but there is no way she doesn’t know that the teachings of the Church are directly opposed to what she says they are. She wasn’t born yesterday.

It’s not that she supports homosexuality or that she does it for political or personal reasons. We all know she has been a promoter of homosexuality for a long time. And we know she represents a district that is so besotted with sexual immorality that she could not say otherwise and remain in office. But we know those things, and they are not the point. It’s the deceit that is so offensive, and the fact that she knows full well she might actually persuade some otherwise innocent person that her misrepresentation is the truth. And, believing she is an intelligent woman, that she intends it.

That’s what’s so foul about this. What was it that Jesus said: “It would be better that he tie a millstone around his neck and cast himself into the sea than he corrupt one of these, my little ones.”
