She is allowed to call herself whatever she wants. But if she claims that the Catholic faith is compelling her to support something that is contrary to the Catholic faith, I will settle on just calling her crazy.

I would be happy if Ms. Pelosi was at least a Cafeteria Catholic. 🤷 Then she would at least get things right once in a while.

Look, everyone but you gets it, so I’ll type it one more time.

No one has an issue with her claiming to be Catholic, because by baptism, she is. Everyone should have a problem with her invoking her Catholic faith as impetus for support of something the Catholic Church has the EXACT OPPOSITE POSITION ON.

If you still don’t get it, just move along.

No, can we address why it’s acceptable for her to spread false Church teaching, as my nearly decade-old Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith link shows. 🤷

You’re missing the point here. Many people would like at least a clarification as to why she has not been publically reprimanded or excommunicated. I think it’s a fair question people are asking.

I know there’s the old rule that silence indicates approval, but we have to remember that these are the same bishops that shuffle priests guilty of serious sexual transgressions, and I know I’m not comfortable with what the bishops did there, and so I don’t think I have to assume that I should necessarily be comfortable with their handling of Pelosi.

Most of the time when someone excommunicates themselves by latae sententiae, it would not be public knowledge,and it just simply ain’t on anyone’s C drive. If she does not recognize that she has excommunicated herself, that’s not to say that I know if she has or not, and insists that she is going to continue to call herself Catholic, I don’t see that there’s any way to stop her from calling herself Catholic. We can call her out on the obvious errors of her statements, but I don’t count too much on the bishops.

So am I correct, if I am reading your post correctly, that you don’t feel that Pelosi should call herself Catholic?

No I feel anyone who was baptized a Catholic, Nancy Pelosi included, should be allowed to call themselves that wherever they are if they choose to do so, since that is the Church’s answer. To say otherwise is not the Catholic answer. Some here seem to agree.

It isn’t a matter of what 'she believes" or what others 'believe". It’s a matter of telling the truth. When Ms. Pelosi says her Catholic faith led her to declare against the Catholic faith, she’s just not telling the truth.
