What to Watch for?

1. How hard does Harris hit Trump?

2. The Covid-19 pandemic

3. Understudy auditions

4. Contrasts in style and more

5. Return of the Proud Boys?

I expect less insults and more substance than in the first Trump-Biden debate. Should be an interesting one.
I don’t see how there could be more insults or less substance. That said, while VP debates are often interesting, they are rarely impactful. I don’t know that this one will be any different.

I think it’s doubtful Biden will resign mid-presidency but running for re-election in 2024 does seem like a stretch. Bernie Sanders seems to be well-intact mentally in his old age but Biden has some pretty noticeable issues that won’t get any better 4 years from now.
Multiple sources have reported that Biden is telling people privately that he will not run in 2024. I would hope that is true given his age.

So it’s important that we listen to this debate between Sen. Harris and VP Pence knowing that there’s a good chance that she will become the President .
Do you remember Reagan/Bush in 1980? Voodoo economics?

Reagan was then our oldest nominee and folks thought that Bush would step in as president soon.

I don’t think the age matters so much as long as the person still “has it”, but Biden doesn’t have it. Bernie Sanders did have a heart attack, but mentally, he is clearly in really good shape despite being an octogenarian. He speaks and sounds almost identical to himself as a Vermont mayor in the 1980s.

If Biden were to resign after winning the election that would really energize the GOP at midterms. Biden is a true believer in his cause and his party and he will do whatever he can to finish his term if he is elected.

Yes, I remember that. Pres. Reagan lived through 2 terms, and for quite a few years after, although the last few years he suffered from Alzheimers.

And George Bush eventually won the Presidency.

I think that he is working very hard and his campaign staff working even harder to minimize his age-related deficiencies. I’m not criticizing him for these–everyone gets old, and it’s icky, especially when you have been a public servant to your country pretty much all your life.
This is interesting, when the other candidate is almost as old and is in much worse shape (obese) than Biden.

I think it could be said that both candidates are in the upper bounds of possibility of not finishing their terms.

How could there possibly be MORE insults than in the Trump and Biden debate?

Judging from Pence’s performance in the 2016 VP debate with Tim Kaine, Pence came off as a cool, level-headed speaker compared to Kaine’s frenetic, almost manic, performance. I hope this debate between Pence and Harris is more even-tempered.

Biden is a true believer in the Democratic party of yesteryear, not the Democratic party of today. And what is his cause? I personally don’t think he has one, and I have no idea why he even chose to run for President at this period of his life. I understand somewhat why Trump ran: for the adrenalin rush of winning although I don’t think he even expected to beat Clinton. Certainly not for the purpose of governing. Why is Trump running again? I’m not so sure he wants to win this time around. Or ego perhaps. The only one who I think really wanted to become President–and still does–is Hillary Clinton.

Didn’t she withdraw before the primaries due to shortage of funds?
She was rock bottom in polling, which explains the shortage of funds. Nobody then liked her for President, in her own party.

@meltzerboy2

Well, he did safely win the primary, so at least for the moment, the moderates seem to be the biggest wing of the Democratic Party.

@Polak

Harris was briefly a frontrunner but her popularity plummeted as the primaries continued. Biden still chose her as VP, for whatever his reasons may have been. There was a lot of internal pressure to choose a female ethnic minority but I thought it would have been somebody else.

I think it’s a shame that Christians would even consider voting for these two . To have an epiphany after the fact will be too little too late.God help us!🙏

I agree with you. Jesus Himself told the parable of the two sons–the “polite” one told his father, “Yes, Dad, I’ll go do it right away,” and then did nothing, while the “obnoxious” one told his father, “No way ,Daddy-o!” but then went and did it.

Jesus asked, “Which of the two did the will of his father?” and the disciples told him “The obnoxious one.” (Peeps’ Paraphrase).

Pres. Trump may be obnoxious and braggacious, but he does good things. VP Biden may be calm and polite (questionable by some of the young women who claimed he “groped” them, but I’m guessing they were possibly overly-sensitive–or maybe not?), but will he do good things…or very bad things?

I think it would be fun to read your version of the Bible!

Unfortunately, they were not. Look up Creepy Joe Biden under images 😥 and even videos. One has a man practically pulling his wife away from Biden. That stuff alone * should * have eliminated him from politics years ago.

I’ve mentioned several times on CAF that I have a hard time seeing Pres. Trump as “obese.” Overweight, yet, just like almost half of all Americans. But he hardly seems “obese” to me–of course, he always wears a suit with coat. So who knows.?

It’s not the weakness of the body that I worry about. Pres. Franklin Roosevelt spent much of his private life in a wheelchair. Pres Kennedy suffered from debilitating back pain.

These men managed to run the country with their good, sound minds in spite of their flawed bodies.

Of course, in the final term that Pres. Roosevelt was elected to (4th term), he was apparently bed-ridden and incoherent, and many say that the First Lady Eleanor actually made the decisions, while others say that the President’s Cabinet made the decisions.

The fact is, a good body is not as important as a sound mind and straight soul.

Good point. It will be interesting to read books a few years from now on how Joseph Biden’s unacceptable acts described by women who experienced them were covered up and brushed away by a sympathetic media, while Brett Kavanaugh nearly lost a Supreme Court Justice appointment because of un-provable hearsay accusing him of sexual crimes.
