So you say. I hope you are correct.

This doesn’t mean your are fully following God’s will.

Can you address the scriptures I posted?
Chester we have beaten those scriptures like a dead horse. I will say they are not what you say they are.

Hi Holley,

I am a Charismatic/Pentacostal.
I do not believe in Sola Scriptura, I do believe that the bible is the ultimate authority. Scripture over tradition vs tradition over scripture.
“Lively” praise and worship can be a good thing, worsipping od with our whole being. We enter His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise. Praise and worship should bring us into the very tangible presence of God “God inhabits the praises of His saints”.
This presence is very real, it is the real presence of God.
Read 1 Corinthians were Paul said he desires that all should speak in tongues, that al should prophesy that we should desire the best gifts of the Spirit. This has all been lost in the Catholic Church. Pentacostal live the 1st century Christian Church.
Hisalone.

You are gravely mistaken. I am so annoyed that people like you will sit there and say such things, just proving you have never been in the Catholic Church… you have never met the people nor investigated the spiritualities that grow side by side in that Church.
You think because you can walk into a mass and not see the gifts in display that they are missing from the lives of individuals and congregations. Thats an error.

The first time I really met the charismatic gifts in a totally natural and integrated way was at a Catholic pilgrim sight where a whole town was under the FIRE of revival. There were daily occurences of healings, visions, prophesy etc. I know because I was there… I met people who had been healed even from the last stage of cancer… I met people that spoke in tongues and people that layed their hands on people so that these fell/rested in the Spirit.
But everything went on in ORDER, without a show. In pentecostalism I have seen how the gifts are often made center of attention. In Catholicism its the worship of God in numerous ways, most importantly by being love and light in the world in our daily life and not just at Sunday service.

You dont really know what you are talking about do you?

Besides… I am tired of the “there was an original church along side the Catholic Church but hidden”- argument.
Give sources… if you can you are the first Evangelical I meet who can. Luckily my own Pentecostal friends admit the original church was Catholic. They just havent taken the consequence of that scientific knowlege.

You wanna talk about original Church. Very well… I have some books with the earliest documents written by Christians, before and after the canonisation of the New Testament writings. Tell me what books you have… what early fathers you have studied. Then we can talk about “original church” based on facts.
Or maybe you are not interested in that?

Shalom from a former Evangelical, now happy Catholic.

I am not mistaken.
I have taken vacations in Trappist monastaries, been to Catholic Charismatic conferences, taken theology courses at Catholic universities. So it is you who havent a clue.
Revival is a Protestant concept it is not Catholic. Catholics refer to renewal which is a differnet concept. Get your facts straight.
The church in Acts and 1 Corinthians does not resemble the RCC, anyone can see that. I am sorry you gave up your life in relation to Christ to your new life in relation to church.

Hi everyone. I have recently gotten involved a little bit with a Pentecostal Church. I have not decided to leave the Catholic Church but I am having doubts about the Catholic Church. The Pentecostal Church just seems to be so Biblical! Can you please show me why the Pentecostal Church is wrong? I know that they do not have a valid Eucharist and that is probably the main reason why I have not left the Catholic Church. Please help!
Don’t fall into the cult trap. After reading you other posts. I sounds that you have more doubts about Pentecostalism than Catholicism. The Catholic Mass is 100% biblical. I will post my link to prove that it is 100% biblical. Do you think not having the Eucharist is biblical??? If there is anything I can do let me know.

Was the Holy Spirit here?

Almost everyone who was baptized received the Holy Ghost in power, some* prophesying*,some** speaking in tongues,** the* heavens were opened* to some and* all the signs which Christ promised* should follow the believers were with us abundantly.
:bible1: *
The gifts of the Gospel were enjoyed by many; signs following those that believed,
** devils were cast out***;* the sick were healed;* many prophesied; some spake with new tongues; while others interpreted the same."
:bible1:
…to conclude the services of the evening by invoking the blessing of heaven upon the Lord’s anointed, which he did in an eloquent manner; the congregation shouted a long hosanna: the gift of tongues fell upon us in mighty power, angels** mingled their voices with ours**, while*** their presence was in our midst*,** and unceasing praises swelled our bosoms for the space of halfanhour."
:bible1: ***
And there on the Day of Pentecost there was such a time of the outpouring of the spirit of the Lord
that my pen is inadequate to write it in full or my tongue to express it. But I will here say that the spirit was poured out and
* came like a mighty rushing wind** and* filled the house*, that* many that were present spoke in tongues* and** had visions** and* saw angels* and** prophesied**, and* had a general time of rejoicing such as had not* been known in this generation."
:bible1: ***
"Were it not that our bodies have to be fed and clothed, I would propose that we tarry here a few months, to give all a chance to speak
, to exhort, to pray, to prophesy,to sing, to speak in tongues
, or to do** whatsoever the Spirit should manifest unto them***. But our work is a wo rk of the present. The salvation we are seeking is for the present, and,*** sought correctly***,* it can be obtained***,** and* be continually enjoyed*."

There is absolutely no way that pentacostalism fits the biblical definition of Church.

You are aware of this.

then you are denying scripture Matthew 16:18-19
Jesus built His Congregation on the revealation that He was the Christ the Son of the Living God.
He did not establish the position of Pope nor infallibility.Read in context.
How folks can take the leap from Matthew 16 to Pope and infallibility is beyound me. Use your God given intelligence folks!

So Christ established the church in Revelation??? I don’t think so. He started the church in Matthew. Again you are denying scripture. We aren’t talking about the Pope or infalliblity. We are talking about when Christ established the church. Are you assuming I have no intellegence??? Wake up!!! Pentecostalism is a cult. My uncle, grandfather and grandmother got trapped in this cult and it cost my grandfather his life. My uncle is a Pentecostal mininster and the blasphemous words he says about and to those who don’t agree with him his just outragous.

There is absolutely no way that RCC meets the biblical definition of eklessia.
if you look at my post from above the link that I provide does in fact prove that the Catholic Church is indeed biblical

Of course it does.

We believe that the pillar and foundation of truth is the Church. You believe it is a book.

We believe that the leaders of our church can forgive sins with the authority of Jesus.

Our Church is founded on Peter, as is the Church founded by Jesus.

We believe that we should not listen to those who go out with the authority of the Church.

We believe that the Church is one, as did Jesus.

Christ established an assembly of Gods people with the revealtion that He was the Christ the Son of the living God not that Peter was the pope and everyone should submit to him.
You have been killed by incrementalism first you say Christ establihed the Catholic Church then the Catholic Church establishes the office of pope then the pope declarew himself infallible. And you have no issue with that.
Stop it Pentacostalism is not a cult.
Your uncle just might be right.

You believe tradition superceeds the word of God.
I believe the word of God superceeds tradition.
I beleive all disciples of Christ can forgive sins.
Christs Church was not founded on Peter but on the revealation that Jesus is the Christ. If you follow after a church founded on Peter then you are not following after Christs Church.
We believe in one church in Christ.

God is the only one that has the authority to forgive sins. We do not believe that tradition superceds the word of God. Christ built the church upon Peter and appointed him the earthly head to feed his sheep. Christ is the ultimate head of the church.

You know nothing about Papal infalliblity. You do not know what entails. I would sugest reading what Papal infallibility is. BTW what is you definition of Papal infallibility?

God has given all His disciples the authority to forgive sins. What do you think the ministry of reconciliation is?
Is te Church of God built on Peter or upon Christ?
