Well I don’t think people should be egging her on to leave, she would benefit from hearing more about Jesus.

They mock Madonna’s version of Kabbalah. Whether they are correct in doing so is another issue. BUt to say that you got, from reading a newspaper article about Madonna and Kabbalah, that most jews reject Kaballah, is not really a valid conclusion.

Besides, didn’t you say many jews that you know? What does that have to do with a newspaper article?

yes. there’s a big problem with your understanding of Judiasm.

This would be like my saying “My understanding of Christianity is that their God died and he never came back, so there is no truly practicing christian in the entire world.”
 
I don’t believe Carlosdaughter was saying Christians do not have a relationship with God. She was emphasizing the Covenant that Jews have with God which requires them to keep the Torah and thus makes it impossible for us to take on any religion other than Judaism. As opposed to a gentile, who is not obligated by the same covenant and thus will not break it by becoming Christian.

That’s the interpretation I would like to view her post as meaning.

This is nothing unique, Christians too have a Covenant with Christ. Once baptized, always baptized, if a Jew converts to Christianity, he is now bound up with the new Covenant, and is much one of us as you are making the convert to be one of yours.

Anyway, so long. You do your work, we’ll do ours and may God bless any work done in a sincere search for Truth.

hahah, I know exactly what you are getting at - I was not thinking of it when I made this user name.

It is the year I was born in. I had family in concentration camps, the Nazis tried to wipe out my family, trust me, it is not what you think it is.

Don’t be so quick to jump to conclusions with this poster. Since it is preceded by “Freshman” and looking at the join date, it is much more likely that 1988 is the year of his or her birth.

On another board, I saw a perfectly innocent person get tarred with the white supremacy brush for choosing the username “88keys,” which is simply the number of keys on a piano. People didn’t bother to ask her and leapt to erroneous conclusions.

That is WHY I asked; because I don’t believe in jumping to conclusions.

I do not pretend to understand Judiasm. But in listening to some who do, I heard what prompted my question.

CarolsDaughter is gone, so perhaps you can actually answer my question:

*Is it, or is it not a requirement for an orthodox Jew to go to the Temple?

However, the Jewish understanding is more that that. Catholics and LDS might only consider the word, but I ask an orthodox Jew for their consideration of what the word really means to them.

Again, I have been told that the Temple was destroyed, and has yet to be rebuilt, thus causing a problem.

So Valke tell me…do you study Kabballah? Are you an active member in it? A simple yes or no will suffice here.

Sorry. It’s not a yes or no question. 🙂

I study Kabbalistic teachings when they are appropriate to shed light on some aspect of the Tanakh that I am studying. (For example recently I was reading about how different rabbis/sage’s interpreted the phrase “Torah From Heaven” and as part of the discussion, a little Kabbalistic teaching was quoted).
There’s no membership aspect of Kabbalah that I’m aware of.

I have also, very recently, strated studying the Tanya with a Rabbi, which I understand as being kabbalistic in nature.

Jews are required to recite prayers and read from Torah at their synagoug, hopefully with a minion (10 adults or 10 adult males).
When the Temple is rebuilt, we will have to decide if we are going to be required to resume sacrifices.

If you REALLY think Jesus is a False Messiah how in the world could any Jew say it’s ok for a Gentile adopt Christianity? You think God wants anyone to believe in a False Messiah?

Ok so maybe it’s not really saying Gentiles are like dumb animals. Maybe more like stupid children who are free to believe in the Tooth Fairy.

Gentiles are free to adopt any religion they wish; this is because they do not have a Divine Covenant with God.

A lot of Jews say this, it’s a common slogan of antimissionaries. You guys would do well to ditch it since it’s ridiculous as I’ve shown.

You have a habit of thinking that just because you post something, you have proven something.

Nothing anyone has said here has accused Christians of being stupid, animls or children. That’s all on you.
