Maybe I’m missing something here. But I get the impression that every poster here disagrees with Fr. McBrien’s opinion on Eucharsitic Adoration. If we all agree that we disagree with Fr. McBrien’s opinion, why is it taking 160 posts to say that?

It’s been said. What else is there to say? It almost feels as if we just enjoy discussing the issue over and over again to arrive at the same place. We disagree with him. We have a right to disagree with him. He has the right to disagree with us. Neither of us are commiting a sin. So what else is there to discuss?

Fraternally,

Br. JR, OSF 🙂
Come on, JR. You have been a member of CAF for a long time. This is a pretty silly post. Are you being rhetorical?

Agree, JR.
Maybe some newer members feel a greater need to vent?

I’m just trying to cut to the chase. We disagree. OK we said it. Next topic. Maybe I’m just simple-minded.

Allow me to quote from JR - again (see above).

I’ll add more specifically: the discussion could have ended with Posts 3 and 4.

No, dear brother, you are a light beaming in the darkness! And, you should see my private message inbox if you think there are too many posts on this thread! 😃

I got carried away because I’m allergic to the word ‘heresy’ and to any ‘priestly bashing’…I still should have not gotten carried away…

I guess in my simple-mindedness, in order to Adore the Blessed Sacrament, I need priests to consecrate the host…and I’m not picky, any priest will do…

One could say that sub-topics developed, as they always do…but yes, I haven’t seen any posters who don’t Adore the Eucharist! [which is GREAT!!!]

ok…I invite anyone who might be interested, to join a thread on describing your image of ‘Heaven’…it is called 'Do you daydream about Heaven? [physically]

When Perpetual Adoration started in my parish five years ago, some parishioners thought that it was an unnecessary waste of time. Now, the same parishioners are saying that they wonder how they lived without it. It has served as a refuge, literally, in the very Eucharistic Heart of Jesus, a sanctuary, an anchor in the midst of the stress, temptation, sin and chaos of the world. The parish has grown in holiness and we have had the first vocation to the priesthood in over 20 years. There have also been some bone fide miraculous healings of people who were not supposed to live - brain injuries that healed, a cancer that disappeared, etc. The fruits of adoration in our parish are constant and growing and God help the pastor who tried to take this away from the people now that they have truly tasted “how good is the Lord.”

Thank you for sharing this Father. We have adoration in our friary and we have seen many miracles in our lives and in the people whom we serve.

Nice post! Thanks for sharing this with us, Father.

I agree, I have NO idea of how I ever lived without Adoration.

In terms of vocations, we have had several religious men and women, and we keep getting married men who become ordained as Deacons. Once I was speaking with a priest at another parish and mentioned a newly ordained Deacon, and he said ‘another one? that parish has more Deacons than any other I know!’ and I responded…‘it’s the Perpetual Adoration’.

The HS moves and guides us to whatever graces we need at any given historical time. It seems to me that now the HS is guiding us to Eucharistic Adoration…He must know why!😉

And, yes, once an adorer, always an adorer! 😃

God Bless you Father, especially this year.

Thank you Father, for expressing your love. :gopray: You have given me hope.

Thanks to JR, and Sunflower too… 🙂

May the Lord grant us the humility and patience to learn to enjoy the discipline of adoring Him in the Blessed Sacrament, whether veiled in the Tabernacle or exposed in the Monstrance.

May we grow accustomed to His Real Presence now -in the Holy Eucharist- so that when we go to Him in Heaven, His Presence is familiar to us! 👍

Thank you, Lord, for this Mercy and consolation! :yup:
