You can’t forget that, just because the transcripts of papyrus and scrolls with which the original Hebrew and Greek was written, then through the course of time and age, had been copied verbatum to not only duplicate pages allready written, [because there was no printing press or any other methed of quickly creating a copy of a manuscript, it all was handwritten] but to preserve the integrity of the translation for future scholors and students, you cant forget that though the church had not officially assembled the literature into a complete book, this does not take away from the the fact that, IT WAS ALL IN GODS CONTROL TO BEGIN WITH.

You think that just cause the bible wasn’t the bible until the some council decided on what was what, and what should be in and what should be out, does this mean that the original work, including Christ dying on the Cross, was not already done. It was divinely prophesied and written by unique called men by God, and then it was copied over and over and over and over. Because that was the only way to have a bible, to write it out. The original Hebrew, the Original Greek.

So with this in mind, you think the knowledge, the nature and the message of those hand written transcripts changed over the course of time. No they were the Word of God even before the Church decided that it goes in that Great tome called the Bible. The LORD was in control the whole time, He new the bible was going to be His complete message, He guided it into existence. Just like how He hardened Pharoahs heart to surve his cause, And Aaron made the Golden calf to serve His purpose, and He destroyed Sadom and Gamora to serve His purpose, He flooded the world and destroyed everything to serve His purpose

What makes you think the church is bigger than that. The church function was explained in the Great Commision, to preach and spread the gospel. This is the only function.

Nothing else the church teaches will get you to heaven, baptism, confession, sacrament, rosary, These are works that so blatantly scream arrogance into the face of God, Saying that we can do this to be saved and prove our Love.

No, Christ did all the work, His Grace saves us. His grace saves us from the law. The law condemes.

All of the confessions, and sacraments, and baptism, were ceremonial laws to be followed back when God made the law to condemn. You better follow the law or you die unsaved. Now however we are saved by Grace. A person has to recognise that before thay can understand that going to church and maintaining the tradition is contrary to Gods word.

Nothing you can do will save you, no Works.

We are commanded to read our bible, and not forsake the assembly of OURSELVES. find that passage and understand the spiritual meaning. It has nothing to do with a church, or a congregation [a gathering of people] it teaches to study OURSELVES and understand ourselves. You will begin to discern Truth, there is only one. And this truth will begin to contridict other ideals you have always had.

the end

Whos truth? Why should I accept your personal interpretation of scripture?

It would appear that you believe in predestination flavored with a bit of Gnositicism. You seem to beleive that salvation comes from knowldge(Gnosticism) discerned from a book and that the Spirit imparts this knowledge to only a select few(predesitnation).

Hi,

You brought up a good point. I believe this is also a misconception brought on by the church. i listen to catholic answers live everyday, to strenghten my understanding and knowledge for sure, however the normal response i have noticed is, that when a person calls with interesting relating to understanding the bible, the response is that well, sir you should continue to read the bible, that is all good, however there are some who dont have you insight and thats why we have the church. I think this is propaganda

Anybody, can understand the bible. A baby in the womb, a deaf dumb and blind person, a mentally incapable person, somebody who is dislexic, etc. The point is, just being exposed to the Word, because faith comes by hearing, and hearing by THE WORD OF GOD. which is the bible. not the catholic catchecism or the any of the Numerous books Jimmy Akin wants to sell or any of the priests on the show want to sell. They always revert to by my book i can really explain it to you, look for this book because this guy has a good grip on the matter, look up this paragraph in the catholic catchecism and you will understands. etc.

The truth my friends, is that, God does not discrimiate who’s spiritual ears He opens. You must continue to read the bible. continue to read and pray. Anybody can understand the truth i am preaching, Because there is only one, and it is clear as day. You will never ever see it as long as your heart is hardened. All i suggest is to read for yourselves, seriously, compare scripture with scripture. then you will understand the parables God spoke.

both the Old and New testaments are complimentary to each other. They each contain importand links to fully open what God is saying in each. They both are as important as The four gospels put together.everything Word is the Word of God. It must be seen and read in this light.

Says, the bible, not me. To answer the next question.

.
If God does not discriminate why do we have thousands of different and often contradictory interpreations of what Scripture says? The Spirit has revealed a different truth to you than me yet we both read the same scripture , both pray to the same God and both ask for guidance from the same Spirit. How do we resolve this?

Are you comparing scripture to scripture, precept to precept, verse to verse, line to line.

And do you realize that the whole entire bible, from cover to cover is from the mouth of God [of course you do, this only proves my next point], and that is He only spoke in parables. From cover to cover, a person can never ever forget that the bible is firstly a parable. Which is a earthly story with a SPIRITUAL meaning.

You can read a verse, and understand what was happening just by reading the story, the earthly story, and totally take it out of context and get the wrong truth, however there is a spiritual meaning to that same exact verse. Thusly we must properly read the message by figuring out the spiritual meaning of a particular word, or phrase, or verse, and applying it to the text. To understand what God really has to say on the matter. What He has to say spiritually.

In your opinion-why should i or anyone else accpet your opinion of Scripture?

Are you assuming that EVERYONE who reads scripture and doesnt agree with you isnt readng it correctly? Did God really leave somehting as important as our salvation up to out ability to correctly cipher a book?? As i said ther eis a lot of Gnositicism in your beliefs.

My friend, no quite the contrary,

I am suggesting, that most people never ever ever ever read it in this light to begin with.
Now both of these suggestions i made are from actual scripture spoken by God, teaching us how to read His Word.

How can a person argue with that. If God commands us to read His Word, then my dont you just read it the way He tells you to read it.

Many people get different truths because they go by what other people tell them. I doubt if most of these people who are so adiment actually study the bible everyday and read read read read.

I want the truths God has to say. I am afraid of somebody telling me the wrong information, it is my salvation after all. But the majoirty would take for word what somebody tells them.

I suggest read for yourself.

But there are people like me, many people, who do read the bible everyday, hours and hours, i love it, i study and take notes and teach my friends or anybody who wants to ask questions. I will never revert you to a book written by Jimmy Akon or some other priest, I will gaurentee answers straight out of the bible. Can you?

regards.

then it is a very michevious Holy Spirit-whispering thousands of differnt versions of the Truth to different people. how do we sort that out?
If God does not discriminate why do we have thousands of different and often contradictory interpreations of what Scripture says? The Spirit has revealed a different truth to you than me yet we both read the same scripture , both pray to the same God and both ask for guidance from the same Spirit. How do we resolve this?
The answer to that question is in the Holy Scriptures.

First:
If one person has an interpretation that contradicts Scripture, that interpretation is wrong.

And we know it is wrong because it contradicts the Holy Scriptures.

The Bible says we can use the Scriptures to test for truth!!! Act 17:11 Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.

Hippolytus of Rome (died A.D. 235) ’There is, brethren, one God, the knowledge of whom we gain from the Holy Scriptures and no other source.’ (Against Noetus 9).

Second, God gave His Spirit to the entire body of believers, not just a select few.

Acts 15:8 And God, who knows the heart, bore witness by granting them the holy Spirit just as he did us.

1 Cor 2:14-15 The man without the Spirit of God does not accept the things that come from the Spirit, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.
We who have the Spirit of God understand these things, but others can’t understand.
For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

There is one truth which is found in Christ Jesus. The Holy Spirit of God leads all who are in Christ Jesus to one truth. Not all are in Christ Jesus.

However, God doesn’t give everyone perfect understanding in an instant.

I think all of us can testify that our understanding of various Scriptures has change as we have grown in our faith and God has revealed it to us little by little.

If a person is truly seeking God, in time God will make clear all the person needs to know. And none of us will know everything until we are taken to heaven in that promised whirlwind in the final perfection.

Finally, God says in His written Word that some people will chose to misinterpret the written word:

2Ti 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
Mat 22:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

Act 17:2 And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures,

This doesn’t say Paul explained it to them. He used the Scriptures to demonstrate Jesus is the Christ. …some accepted the truth and some denied it.

They did not believe in the Scriptures because Paul explained the Scriptures - They believed what Paul said because the Scriptures proved Paul was telling the truth.

To BibleAnswer:
Someone, some group of men had to sit down and decide what was divinely inspired scripture and what wasn’t. There were many letters, and Gospels that were being written and read in the Churches in the first centuries after out Lord ascended into heaven. This is fact, the real history of our faith. Of course God was in control, the Holy Spirit guided these men, the leaders of his Church in deciding which letters were and were not divinely inspired. I have read that there was much debate, but it was finally decided by the Church, and the Pope at that time which books belonged in the Cannon. They remain unchanged to this day. (Except of course for the Protestant bibles which are missing several books)The Scriptures, as the inerrant word of God were given to the Church for the Church. The Bible is not an oracle. I will ask you a question: How do you know the book you call the Bible is the word of God?
You think that just cause the bible wasn’t the bible until the some council decided on what was what, and what should be in and what should be out, does this mean that the original work, including Christ dying on the Cross, was not already done. It was divinely prophesied and written by unique called men by God, and then it was copied over and over and over and over. Because that was the only way to have a bible, to write it out. The original Hebrew, the Original Greek.
Of Course the work of Christ had to be done before it could be written. That is why the Church had to come first, before the scriptures! And when it was written and copied over and over, who do you think did this? What percentage of the worlds population could actually copy the scriptures? I have read that in the 1st century less than 1 % of the world could read and write in Greek. Who do you think did this great work century after century??? the Catholic Church did this, like it or not this is historical fact.
Just like how He hardened Pharaohs heart to surve his cause, And Aaron made the Golden calf to serve His purpose, and He destroyed Sadom and Gamora to serve His purpose, He flooded the world and destroyed everything to serve His purpose.
What makes you think that I believe that the nature of the scriptures has changed in any way over time? Indeed the Catholic knows that not only is the nature of God unchangeable, so is his word unchangeable. I know this because His Church with the guidance of the Holy Spirit prevails against the gates of Hell in all it’s forms. Including those who in rebellion against God’s Church have decided to alter God’s word by removing books from the scriptures! The Bible is not the complete message, and the Bible says so!
What makes you think the church is bigger than that. The church function was explained in the Great Commission, to preach and spread the gospel. This is the only function.
The scriptures tell me that the Church is bigger than that! Jesus compared his relationship to the church to a bride and bridegroom… He told us tha the Church and he are one! He told St Peter “whatever you bind on earth is bound in heaven. Whatever you loose on earth is loosed in heaven.” That is the love and authority that Christ gave to his Church! You have it backwards my friend

Now however we are saved by Grace. A person has to recognise that before thay can understand that going to church and maintaining the tradition is contrary to Gods word.
Everything the Church teaches helps me win salvation. All salvation comes from Christ Jesus, and he and his Church are one.
Nothing you can do will save you, no Works.
If you know your scripture you know that it says we are NOT saved by faith alone. Works are indeed an important part of our salvation…The Bible says so read it again.
And this truth will begin to contradict other ideals you have always had. the end
The Bible ells us that the scriptures are profitable and that the assembly of ourselves has ***everything ***to do with the Church. The Church and Christ are one. If you say it has nothing to do with the Church you are cutting yourself off from Christ. The Bible also says that you should not rely on your own understanding. That is how you Protestants got into such a mess. You are as lost as Pilot was when asked Jesus “what is the truth?” How do you know the book you are reading is the real word of God?
“Quid est veritas?”

Also, the bible is not just A BOOK.

It is Gods Word. It is all that He left us. Nothing else. It began with Moses,

Ex 24:12 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Come up to Me on the mountain and be there; and I will give you tablets of stone, and the law and commandments which I have written, that you may teach them."

It is hard to argue this if you don’t read. However this scripture is pointing to the fact that God had already written EVERYTHING already. His PLAN. God does not wing it, He has a plan, and a purpose. This was the moment, as God had already known, when the children of Israel were now a nation, having just fled Egypt and the 430 years of bondage, that now they were free, and a multitude; By the estimates in 1 Chronicles about 2.5 million Jews. A nation promised sense the time of the covenant with Abraham. So this is the moment when His Word became profitable by DOCUMENTATION for the rest of us. For the children of Israel, of Isaac, of Abraham, of Adam, of God. This does not just apply to the 10 commandments. As We learn from the bible, His Word is the LAW AND COMMANDMENTS. All of it, every word in the Bible, is from God. Everything He says, is meant for use and guidance. And you wont understand this by reading the bible as a story.

[2Tim 3:14] But as for you, continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them.
[2Tim 3:15] and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to **make you wise for salvation **through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

My point, Scripture Makes YOU WISE. That is not conceit or misunderstanding. If you have faith, then believe the Word is true. Study study study read read read. YOURSELF.

[2Tim 3:16] All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.

The bible is not written of MEN. God used prophets, such as Moses, and Joshua the son of Nun, to further HIS PLAN. Realize, there is a timeline, a plan, in the beginning there was the Heaven and Earth, and in the end Judgment Day. We all know this. God doesn’t give everything all at once. Its a select few men who truly believed, who were prophets, and they lived hundreds of years apart, such as Noah to Abraham, Abraham to Moses, Moses to David. David To Peter. Its faith that you believe all of this fits together and that God did it Correct the first time. And believe in the Scripture, because it IS PROFITABLE for DOCTRINE, for reproof, correction, and instruction. We always learn new things from the bible, it is so deep. A person can always be corrected. Most of us need to be corrected in some way or another. The bible does that. You trust what you find in it only.

The whole bible is His Word. The bible began in Moses’ generation. Moses wrote and probably finished most of the first 5 bibles of the Old Testament, some portions could easily have been written by Joshua,

Num 27:18 And the LORD said to Moses: “Take Joshua the son of Nun with you, a man in whom is the Spirit, and lay your hand on him.”
Deut 34:9 Now Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom, for Moses had laid his hands on him; so the children of Israel heeded him, and did as the LORD had commanded Moses.
Josh 1:1 After the death of Moses the servant of the LORD, it came to pass that the LORD spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ assistant, saying:
Josh 1:2 “Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them-the children of Israel.”

Back to where it started…

Ex 31:18 And when He had made an end of speaking with him on Mount Sinai, He gave Moses two tablets of the Testimony, tablets of stone, written with the finger of God.
Ex 32:15 And Moses turned and went down from the mountain, and the two tablets of the Testimony were in his hand. The tablets were written on both sides; on the one side and on the other they were written.
Ex 32:16 Now the tablets were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God engraved on the tablets.

Again, I offer the Spiritual meaning, for face value, you would read this and say God actually wiped his finger on stone and carved letters, no no no no, God was with Moses, this teaches us that IT WASN’T MEN WHO WROTE THE BIBLE, God emphases this point, No, Moses used his hands to write, BUT God used Moses. God was in control. Not Moses. You might try to debunk that, but there are a few passages telling us, that Moses had ascended Mount Sinai for 40 days. Because Moses was prophesying, God was speaking to him literally, and Moses wrote exactly what God said.

[Ex 24:18] So Moses went into the midst of the cloud and went up into the mountain. And Moses was on the mountain forty days and forty nights.

This is not EASILY UNDERSTOOD unless you take your time, and don’t breeze over a verse like a book. Not what the bible is for. Everything derived from this event in July. Three months after the Exodus out of Egypt which was in April , on the fifteenth day, the day after the Passover.

Ex 12:1 Now the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying,
Ex 12:2 “This month shall be your beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you.”
Num 33:3 They departed from Rameses in the first month, on the fifteenth day of the first month; on the day after the Passover the children of Israel went out with boldness in the sight of all the Egyptians.

Compare Scripture with Scripture

I am really sorry,

it is just my understanding.

Seeing how the bible is spiritual, the church Christ is refering to would also be a spiritual church. One free of sin and confusion and evil.

the wheat and tares. The wheat are true believers, the tares are those who believe they are saved, yet are not.

Gods church, would not have tares in it.

A spiritual church is for the elect, which are only wheat.

God gathers up his wheat for Himself, The spiritual church.

And gathers all the tares, that is the chaff, and bind them and burn them.

Scary imagery. It is unfortunate that so many are unwilling to discuss this reasonably and be objective. And perhaps learn something new.

Daniel 12 is telling us that there is a little book being sealed until it is to be opened. This clearly tells us that nobody could have fully explained the bible. God locked the book up. NOw it is open. We know this because of the NEW TRUTHS, BEING UNCOVERED. NEW BIBLE INFORMATION. It isn’t all known. That is your ignorance to not seek your own answer.

KEEP IN MIND there is only one truth.

Also, This is unfortunate, this is not just the catholic church. This is every church every concieved on the face of the planet.

Now church could know the NEW BIBLE INFORMATION precisely because it is telling us to come out of Church. This isn’t Watchman society, or any weird cult, this is being read from the bible. Why do you suppose so many are know starting to come on with this new understanding.

Where does God say the Church is only for the elect?
The Bible tells us that there is “Nothing new under the Sun”
You have some serious issues my friend. Calling others ignorant because they disagree with you is no way to win converts.
Someone or something has really twisted your thinking. God is not telling people to leave his Church.

BibleAnswer, why will you not answer the questions posed to you. You write line after line after line…and you say nothing. All you offer is opinion. You would have us believe that after 2,000 years you have all the answers. Yet, you do not answer the questions that have been directed at you.

There has not been an adequete question posed.

I don’t understand what you mean. I have left line after line of bible verse, and a few paragraphs to explain what they mean. I explain because so many do not understand.

The only thing I have said is that the truth is for Anybody in bible. I have left verse after verse proving that the only thing required for salvation is the bible.

Yet you keep rebutting with the church history has 2000 years of knowledge, blah blah.

I have no desire to be rude or ignorant or disrepectful. I may get excited over something i obviously love, and also if the truth is twisted around, I have an obligation to comment on it, seeing how I cant have people totally ignorant of truth, weather they believe it or not. Nothing i said is from my brain, and i have indeed answered all questions posed.

Pose a question differently perhaps. You say i say the same tired ol thing, yet noboday can keep a conversation because the extent of there knowledge is what there church teaches. I am not even bashing, if you read on your own fine, but many dont

I just spent some time wrtting really good responses, it is obvious you never took time to read them, otherwise something would seem interesting to you.

Another topic closed because of rediculous people who cant seem to elevate the conversation. Talk about boring.

I do my best to remain humble, because i know nothing in the schem of things. but all of you, know even less. I can say i put hour and hour and hours into bible a day. With out even knowing i can say most of you Dont. SO what makes you think you can out argue or prove a point better than me. So topic closed and on the a better one, because arguing is not Gods will either.

Oh ya, another tired response is

where does the bible say this, where does God say that.

ITS IN THERE. you obviosly dont know its in there because YOU NEVER READ THE BIBLE THOUROUGHLY…

Man i am still reading it, everyday, here a little, there a little. precept by precept.

this is so incredibly basic, that it is just so utterly stupid how many people LOVE CHRIST yet can honestly say they have never ever truly read the bible.

Man read the book, thats where all this new fangled crazy information is comeing from.

Bibleanswer, the main reason we are not communicating here is a basic difference between the Catholic Church, and your fundamentalist beliefs. The fundamentalist (at least certain groups) believe that God’s word is the ONLY thing we can trust. Mankind was so completely corrupted by the fall in the garden that he cannot trust anything else but the Bible. Catholics (and other groups as well) believe that man was not so completely corrupted after the fall that he couldn’t reach back out to God. That God’s laws are written on the hearts of all mankind, and each of us must choose to follow those laws or not. We believe that the Bible is the word of God, and that the holy Catholic Church is the one true Church that Christ established. If I were to sit down with you, and 10 other people, all of whom are Christians and all ask for and accept the guidance of the holy Spirit. If we 10 sit down and read the same scripture, we are very likely (depending on the passage) to have differing views on what that scripture verse(s) meant. How can this be? The Holy Spirit is not going to lie to one and tell the truth to another? If 10 people in the room disagree on one passage how do we decide who is right?? We can’t, at least not with the fundamentalist view point. The Catholic however relies on the wisdom of God’s Church who through the intervention of the Holy spirit gives us all the correct interpretation of the scripture. That is the difference between us. You are not going to convince anyone here that your personal interpretation of the Bible is correct in the face of the authority of God’s Church, and the consistent teaching of that Church for 2000 years.

Many people get different truths because they go by what other people tell them. I doubt if most of these people who are so adiment actually study the bible everyday and read read read read.
I I have studied Scripture very deeply-4 years in the Seminary and a minor in theology. I have led numerous scripture studies in my life and read Scrpiture 6 times a day. You and i have both intensly studied Scripture yet disgree on what it says. How do we resolve that?
I want the truths God has to say. I am afraid of somebody telling me the wrong information, it is my salvation after all. But the majoirty would take for word what somebody tells them.
The majority has neither the time nor inclination to study scripture as deeply as we do.Was it really Gods paln for slavation that knoweldge of a book is what is necessary for salvation? Again this smacks of gnostocism.
I suggest read for yourself.
I have-i suspect more than you have. yet again we disagree -how do we resolve that?
But there are people like me, many people, who do read the bible everyday, hours and hours, i love it, i study and take notes and teach my friends or anybody who wants to ask questions. I will never revert you to a book written by Jimmy Akon or some other priest, I will gaurentee answers straight out of the bible. Can you?
And those many people have come up with thousands of contradictory versions of what scripture says. When you say you will give me answers straight from Scripture you are really saying you will give me answers based on your personal interpreation of scripture-the same as you evidently do for your friends. Under what authority do you presume to interpret scripture for the rest of us.?

The answer to that question is in the Holy Scriptures.

First:
If one person has an interpretation that contradicts Scripture, that interpretation is wrong.

And we know it is wrong because it contradicts the Holy Scriptures.
believed what Paul said because the Scriptures proved Paul was telling the truth.
If there was only one Protestant denomination you would have a point. In fact there are thousands of them all based on the same Scripture, all praying to same God and all asking the same Spirit for guidance but coming up with profound differences on what it takes to gain heaven… How can this be?

Compare Scripture with Scripture
Based on whos interpetation of scripture?

I am afraid your are going to have to come up with a better answer than i am smarter than the rest of you and you need to accpet my personal interpretation of Scripture.

Why should I thow away 2,000 years of teachings and traditions, rejecft the writings of the likes of Augustine, Leo. Aquinas, Edith Stein et al to embrace the personal intperpretation of scripture from an anonymous internet poster?
