Hello, Thoroflr.

I think this is the first time we have met here.

Please tell me/us what is good about Trump. Obviously, we the people are on different tracks. I guess that’s why Trump has divided our country so and there is so much hostility here and everywhere.
i do believe there is really so much the other side does not know about Trump.

I always found Obama to be the bully - forcing Obamacare down our throats and then fining us if we didn’t buy his health insurance.

There was no one more divisive than Obama.
 
He was the first President who lived by a narrative rather than competency. Also the media was in lockstep with him; only Fox and a few other outlets ever criticized him seriously. Even Clinton had an objective press. The Obama phenomenon, which I initially was totally into, is really fascinating. It is almost a sort of cult. If you read this article in the thread, it is millennials who chose Obama the most, no other age group did, only age 17-22. He was like the coolest President ever.

It’s definitely true of polls – obviously, responses say a great deal about the responder, probably as much (maybe even more) as about the subject of the poll.

That said, what does the opinion of a hack “journalist” for sleazy rags, Celebrity Apprentice contestant, judge on talent shows, and more of that nature, have to do with anything? I don’t think Morgan’s opinion on anything is worth much.

I didn’t ask about the birther nonsense. I asked about hate.
Just one post where someone expresses hate for Obama personally. I will join in the condemnation of such sentiments here.
 
As someone who had a lot of C-sections during that time, the Obama years hurt us. It’s not his fault I had so many babies or that they all had to be cut out (:laughing:Thanks Obama!) but a lingering funk about how the ACA just riled insurance companies up further will always be part of my perception of his presidency. I still think history will remember him fondly.

On this forum, when it comes to Trump, it is argued that any criticism or lampooning is hate.
What will be the standard of evidence of hate toward Obama?

Give a quote there,too. I’ve never said people personally hate Trump, but if we are using the birther deal, I guess criticizing Trump’s hair is hate. :roll_eyes:

I contend that on both sides the dislike is for policy. I “hated” much of Obama’s policy decisions. I like most of Trump’s. I suspect, however, that I would personally like Obama more, based on personalities.

So, again, a post from someone who has said they hate Obama.

To be fair, President Obama was on a different plane (being the first black president and all) when he was elected. Many African Americans have different experiences compared to the majority in this country. I could see where race played a role in birtherism.

I do note the drift, but hate is rather specific, and I would expect that an example could be identified.

Actually that is not true. I do tax calculations all the time in some of the work I do. If you are a single minimum wage earner taking the standard deduction, you absolutely did not get a tax cut. If you are someone making $200k per year, you got a substantial tax cut.
 
My daughter-in-law got a great bonus because the company she works for benefited from tax cuts.

And if you make $40,000.00 a year, you also got a substantial tax cut.

Minimum wage earners either don’t pay taxes or what they pay is insignificant after personal exemptions and standard deduction. Tax tables are graduated so the more you make, the more you pay percentage wise.
 
People like Birtherism because they used to like perry mason?

That not how real life is.

People promoted birtherism as a conspiracy because they didn’t like Obama. There had to be something wrong with him, so they focused on a conspiracy theory about his birth.

We didn’t get one either.

It got shuffled around where we use to pay half a dozen. Now we pay 6.
