You’re right, of course. But I think we’re just venting that we’re burned out and fed up with this evil; we’re not saying it’s time to bail or that the teachings or dogmas, theology, or morality that the Church teaches is evil. Once in a while you just get burned out on hearing this stuff.

My sentiments exactly. I’m tired and disgusted of such blatant evil from men who have consecrated the Eucharist. It’s especially heinous that they are using the blood of Christ to intoxicate their victims and then assault them. I agree there’s a need for a vomit emoticon.

I have been considering coming into the Catholic faith, but you must know that I will not look at people but what I am convinced is right. I am reading the foundational teachings. (Church Fathers etc.) also the Catechism. These are the basis for your Catholic faith along with Sacred Scripture and the Sacraments. So if I’m focusing on these it only seems right that all Catholics should do the same and get on their knees in serious prayer and contemplation for the souls of those who have gone astray by sin. If you are the Body of Christ you must be strong against the evil and look to Him and that which is good and be better yourselves, more holy. (Overcome evil with good it says somewhere)He doesn’t ask us to retreat and say “Ok, I give up, I’m leaving”…He asked us in difficulty to stand closer to Him, trusting Him!

Cardinal Justin Rigali of Philadelphia has placed 21 priests in the archdiocese on administrative leave, following investigations into a grand jury report that there were credible abuse allegations against the clergy members.

“These have been difficult weeks” since the release of the report, Cardinal Rigali said in a March 8 statement. Difficult “most of all for victims of sexual abuse, but also for all Catholics and for everyone in our community.”

Just like at work as a teacher I get fried on hearing of all the abuse of kids in my class, the divorces of parents, the foul-mouthed stuff, the drama from hormonal sixth graders, the daily grind, and today I find out the reason why a student of mind didn’t show up was that her dad committed suicide via a shotgun to the temple Sunday morning. Talk about trauma. I started a prayer thread for Kaytlyn and her mom, the girl in my class.

Prayers for the soul of Kaytlyn’s dad and for Kaytlyn and her mom. I can’t imagine what they are suffering. I hope there will be counseling available for Kaytlyn.

As for the OP’s issue of abuse allegations in the CC; I’m sure Catholics are both disturbed and weary of the battle.

The problem is that the actions of a few affect the reputation of the CC. My son, who has sadly fallen into agnosticism, brought up the subject of abuse within the Catholic Church and the alleged “cover ups” he had read about and heard about on the news. That turned him far from ever considering Catholicism.

I pray he will return to Christ. He is burned out on the Baptist Church–my fault. I should have left long before I did.

Though my son says he’s happy I’ve found a good Parish in Anglicanism, he’s not ready to commit to any organized religion. This is breaking my heart.

Yet, look what he sees on the news: TEC in a mess over same-sex issues (among others); Baptists (some) condemning people to Hell; and Catholic pedophilia scandals. Let’s not forget the image projected by some of the TV evangelists-disturbing on so many levels, with plenty of scandals–they tend to be dealt with swiftly. Then a book deal will inevitably follow, and soon the fallen ministers are back on the air again.

I just don’t know. . . .
