Broke Back Mountain collapsed under it’s own weight. Hollwood awards not withstanding, it barely made it’s production costs back at the box office. Even Hollowood elites didn’t watch it.
In my humble opinion, these people and their agenda need less attention from everyone. That doesn’t mean we allow them free reign to poison our schools, churches or other institutions. It means we give them enough rope to hang themselves. Their increasingly shrill and foolish positions are doing what no boycott could possibly achieve.
Excellent point. If you have not seen it already, check out Michael Medved’s video Hollywood vs. Religion where he makes this point that Hollywood continues to back movies they KNOW are going to tank simply because they attack religious sensibilities. This amounts to an insane enemy–doing everything possible to destroy even when it hurts themselves.

If you are against homosexuals, and don’t want your children taught that it is O.K., then you need to take a stand against them every time. Not just when it’s in Hollywood.

I just don’t understand why people are afraid to pick a side, take a stand, and voice their opinion and live their life accordingly.
I , as always, pick the side of the Church:

[2357](javascript:openWindow(‘cr/2357.htm’)😉 Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity,141 tradition has always declared that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered."142 They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.

2358 The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God’s will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord’s Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition. [2359](javascript:openWindow(‘cr/2359.htm’)😉 Homosexual persons are called to chastity. By the virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection.

Exactly–your mom is a CATHOLIC SCHOOL teacher. I’m talking about public schools, and public schools in the US, not in the UK. It’s already been discussed in my state, where just last year we voted on gay marriage. My mom is also an elementary school teacher, and she teaches at a public school. She told me that the issue had come up during the time before the vote on whether or not public school teachers would have to teach that homosexuality was an acceptable lifestyle.
Catholic schools in the UK are not private, they are open to all (even people of different faiths, like Muslims) they follow the same curriculum as all the other schools in the country, meaning all other schools that aren’t private. They just have a greater emphasis on religious matters (Relgious Education is compulsory anyway here).

I still struggle to see why it would have any effect, it really hasn’t caused much of a stir here, but then again, the US is very different to the UK… 😃

Two months is hardly enough time to determine if there will be a change in a curriclumn. Britain is steadily moving towards criminalizing criticism of the homosexual lifestyle so your MUM had better watch what she says…

I doubt it? Have you got any resources to back up your opinion?

Also, two months certainly is enough time to determine if there shall be a change to the national curriculum, when we look at “contraversial” matters in education, then we see that the immidiate aftermath of the time is when actions, or call for action occurs.

I am unsure where you get the idea about Britain slowly reversing it’s attitude… Nothing I have ever seen in my country leads me to believe so, even in the most vocal of tabloids.

Why is mum capitalized?

Finally, homosexuality plays no part in our education, never has, and I really doubt it ever will, our society simply isn’t obbsessed with in to such an extent that it plays a part in our education system. The education system would most probably follow a policy of teaching acceptance, and not discriminating, this needs no refinement on the matter, and does not need to single particular groups of people - that is discrimination.

When sexual orientation actually comes to be discussed in a classroom, then it is at the discretion of the school and the teacher to ensure that the pupils are mature enough to discuss the topic, which, usually they are.

Personally i’m all for people doing or being whatever they like just so long as it isn’t hurting anyone. Live and let live.

I suppose that’s the correct answer for the pop-culture politically correct people.

If I want to steal $10,000 from my bank, no one gets hurt. Their insurance ceovers it and the increase in their insurance costs would be so insignificant as to be practically nil. I mean, were talking $10,000 of their $55Billion.

It will take time for the lawsuits and legislation to catch up with the new civil union law.

Why not?

Interesting you claim to have found all these books in your school library on homosexuality , some of which tell you the Church has lied to you, and yet then tell us your school doesnt get into homosexuality at all.

As far as being mature enough to discuss the subject i am gald you classmates are-i wish I could say the same about CA http://forums.catholic-questions.org/images/icons/icon10.gif

A great philosophy to claim to live by. And of course I am sure it makes you feel very, very good to be so tolerant of everyone and everthing. Of course in reality your attitude never works. NEVER.

Love the sinner… to a point.

Lot tried to stop the destruction of Sodom if only a few good people could be found… I am sure God loved those He destroyed, but He destroyed them non the less.

The gay, I mean homosexual/lesbian/trans lifestyle is gravely sinful. … how could I ever pick that side and stay right with God?

As for the “rights” or the “privileges”… sorry, wrong song. Those who choose to sin have no more rights or privileges as a human than you or I have. No less, but no more. And no rights come because of their lifestyle.

Oh, I have only found the book I referred to in the library, all the others I have bought (I much prefer it to using one I have to give back) The book I referred to was a history book, one regarding empires, it was not a theology book, and it was also old, really, it is not a book about the church or about homosexuality, it just had a reference to it.

I agree with you on this one - lets all grow up 😛 😃
Oh that will be my paranoia kicking in, never jump to conclusions guys - it will be your own undoing - I warn you now!!! 😛

I really doubt it, there were no protests as the laws got passed, in fact the only real “outcry” (if you can even call it that) was in Ulster - but that will be Ian Paisley’s mob (and don’t go defending him - he thinks the Pope is the anti - Christ). Other than that - this is Britain, there is no suing craze and lawsuit mania, (or at least not on American scale) I don’t think there will be much action.

It’s better than banning everything you don’t personally agree with.

And who, pray tell, has done that?
If you could make it illegal for gay couples to be together, would you?

If the answer is no, we don’t have a problem.

There is no restriction whatsoever on people who engage in homosexual behavior being together(in fact it would be rather difficult for them to engage in such behavior if they werent “together” ,wouldnt you agree?). Although I fear for their immortal soul I dont personally think people who engage in homosexual behavior should be prohibited from being together-in fact i dont know of anyone who does.

People right in this forum believe that hosexuals should not be allowed to be togehter? I havent run across this. Most, myself included, are opposed to sanctioning their sinful behavior by allowing them to “marry” but i dont know of anyone who has said they cant be “together.” Like I said how would they engage in homosexual behavior if thet arent “together”

Living together is one thing but having sexual relations with each other is another - this was the point of the sodomy laws that were recently struck down in Texas and that ultimately led to the Massachusetts Supreme court legalizing gay marriage.

Ok, I’ll pick a side. Homosexuals (at least those of the same sex) don’t get each other pregnant and then murder their babies.

Of course, I don’t believe there is any such thing as a homosexual. I read somewhere that the concept of homosexuality did not even exist until the 19th century. The Catechism of the Council of Trent doesn’t even mention it.

All people are sexual to some degree or possibly to no degree. The more sexual a person is, the greater their tempations their to engage in sexual activity. This is true unless unless a person is able and willing to channel his sexuality to some other activity.

And our society is ever ready and willing to always temp people to illicit sexual activity.
