Wow, that’s quite a revision to your first reply. You said,

“Haha, oh dear. If ignorance is bliss, you must be the happiest person in the world.”
I sure did. I was considering keeping it in, but I felt I should explain why I said that. It felt a little bit cruel, too.

But, honestly, such a post just confirms the fact that people assign everyone they disagree with to being part of an evil, elusive agenda. Atheism is merely the disbelief in gods - it says nothing about any of their other view points. There are atheists that disagree with abortion, and atheists that disagree with homosexuality. However, rather than try to talk to these people, or understand their view point, you make them into a make-believe, paranoid conspiracy theory.
Abortion and so-called same-sex “marriage” are pleasing to Satan because they are in direct rebellion to God’s most basic plan for man and woman which is to marry and procreate. In addition, abortion goes against God’s commandment not to murder. Therefore, whether one admits it or not, by doing these things or supporting others doing them they are rejecting God. I would even go so far to say that these things represent the ultimate way to reject God since nothing else could be more offensive to him.
Yeah, what does that have to do with atheism? Atheists aren’t hell-bent on insulting your religion, you know.

No atheist agenda…really? Read the news lately? No one said all atheists are militant, but there is clearly atheist militancy, and just as clearly these militants have an agenda to destroy the role of religion in American society. Well, that’s not quite precise- the agenda is to replace traditional religion with their own “religion” which is atheism.

Certainly it is true to say that not all atheists support same sex “marriage,” or abortion on demand. However, among the atheists who post on CAF even the most cursory review will reveal that the overwhelming majority consistently argue in favor of both same sex “marriage” and abortion on demand. Of course this isn’t surprising, since an atheist by definition will not believe in absolute morality.

If the intent was to say I am uninformed about atheism, well, what I’ve seen and read on these forums is information enough for me. There are a few thoughtful, considerate, even open-minded self-described atheists who post here but unfortunately, there seem to be more who only join CAF to argue against Christianity. We must pray for these folks.

I visited an atheist forum once- the hatred I witnessed there, mostly directed toward the Roman Catholic faith, was astounding. I could probably locate it again but I have no wish to scandalize my fellow Christians. Well, perhaps that’s why there are so many atheists on CAF- the level of intellectual engagement is much higher here than on their own forums.

I read up on them, and I’m not sure that’s the case. The source I used was very, very bias, I’ll admit, but I’m pretty sure their main goal is to prevent unwanted pregnancies than simply pushing abortion. Not that I know much about them, living in the UK and only having read a tiny amount of information about them.

Is this some kind of sex education thingy? It sounds like they’re trying to educate people about safe sex from what you’ve described and their website.
And again, this has nothing to do with preparing for the working world.

The same old standards apply as ever applied - basic skills such as typing and filing; learning to keep a day planner, keeping track of your budget, and setting monthly and annual goals. No sex required; certainly not “sex education” from Planned Parenthood.

Amen- the war on Christianity may be incremental but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist, or isn’t part of a greater strategy. And you have named the “mastermind” of the strategy. Those human beings who do his work on earth think they are in control- what a laugh!

Not all, or even most, atheists are anti-theists. I don’t really care about what you believe. I’m only here because I get bored in the evenings. 😃 Very few atheists oppose organised religion as a whole, or want it to be completely abolished. That would just be totalitarian.

Yeah, the four or five atheists that regularly post on Catholics Answers Forums. Wow, that’s a good way to make an unbiased judgement on what most atheists believe. :clapping: Anyway, I oppose abortion, as do many other atheists. I also know atheists that oppose homosexuality.

This was really off-topic, but was also completely and utterly necessary.

No, you don’t know that, you simply believed her. People meet con artists all the time and believe what they say. That’s how they get your money. The egregious and false attacks on the people who work for Planned Parenthood is what is despicable and unChristian in my opinion. The false information, the insistence on calling it a for-profit business when it is not, everyone deciding it’s okay to hate - it’s not okay, it’s never okay, it will never be okay to hate.

NO ONE wants to discuss anything useful to do about the issue of abortion being legal,. Everyone wants to go on and on in threads demonizing other humans, hating all together in a group, making themselves believe their hate serves God.

You can’t serve God and Satan, and hate and lies and turning others into less than human beings only serves The Liar.

One of the finest Christians I know works for Planned Parenthood. And until you can accept that people who are decent and caring and love God can also be part of something you object to, then you just create a big black hole to drag each other into.

What I am defending is the truth.
The only hate here is in defending a group that performs evil acts, obfuscating things, and disassembling the truth. Appalling but not surprising.

It is kinda frustrating to be pigeon-holed all the time. People say ‘pro-life’ as if everyone else is anti-life. Personally I would be very pleased if there were no more abortions at all. I’d love to see if anyone has any information on anyone who actually says that abortions are preferable to a woman not getting pregnant in the first place.

The problem is, if someone rocks up to a school and starts giving information about how not to get pregnant in the first place, people are up in arms. ‘They shouldn’t have sex’ seems to be the best idea most Catholics can come up with. Yeah, like that works well…

Julia seems to be the only person who has anything to say that makes sense. Would that there were more of her. She’s a credit to her faith. She doesn’t support abortions, but she seems to be able to distance herself from the usual spittle flecked diatribes that are par for the course in discussions like this.

Incidentally, Regular, where on earth did you get that picture you use? Prince Charles, Stephen Fry, Hugh Laurie and is it Daniel Radcliffe? Nor sure about the other guy…

I don’t think so somehow. I know many people who managed to practice some degree of promiscuity and still keep a condom on. Anyone with any amount of common sense would. Your claim that all or even most people who fornicate with a condom then proceed to practise rampant unprotected sex is demonstrably false. The OP is also hardly a teen anymore, anyway. They’re 18. They’re practically an adult.
Comdoms define a kind of sexual relationship, one in which neither party desires that it lead to anything more than the moment of comfort or pleasure. Of course, this is not necessarily so, but the condom was, after all, devised as a protection for whores, to keep them from a pregnancy that endangers their livelihood. In a world where the condom and the pill are taken as symbols of freedom, we need to ask: what sort of freedom? The freedom to be alone?

Then do you think contraception should be banned?

this did NOT HAPPEN AT A SCHOOL. In case people still think it is a school.

This is a county place where you go for help in job placement and job training.

These kids are almost out of school and had their share of life sciences.

THIS PLANNED PARENTHOOD COURSE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WHAT WE APPLIED FOR. We applied for job training, and job placement. Not planned parenthood to come and ask us about private matters.

This is what the thread was about, nothing else. If you want to start a discussion, by all means, please start your own thread.

I do not see at all how this fits into our agendas of looking for job training and placement. They can schedule whatever they want on their own time, and not cut our time where we can be learning about things we actually came here for.
This PP thing came out of the blue, completely un related to why we are there.

They need to leave.

Thank you. 🙂

Defending abortion while claiming one wishes it did not occur is not exactly consistent.

It is an ideology. Note the defense of an organization that exists to promote abortion. All lies.

I don’t defend abortion. I defend the right of women to make the choice to have one or not. Some of the reasons they have I would not agree with. I would prefer that any woman who became pregnant was in a position where she didn’t feel the need to have an abortion.

Better education in regards to contraception would help. Isn’t there an organisation that could possibly fulfil that role? I mean, if parenthood was something you could plan, rather than leaving it to chance? That’s what we need.

Don’t you agree?

No. Condoms can be used for many reasons. Married couples who don’t want to have children can use them, for example, or married couples that have children but don’t want any more. It’s got nothing to do with being alone, though it does have a lot to do with pleasure. But pleasure’s good. It’s nice. It’s pleasurable. You seem to be asserting a false reason as to why people use condoms to portray it as bad. That’s just silly. It hasn’t got anything to do with being alone.

Besides, kids are horrible. Who wants 'em, aye?

No, she’s not. She’s in direct opposition to our faith, and if she were honest, she would state it outright. She is an example of moderators being generous - many forum members have been banned for less heretical statements than she has made.

I don’t defend abortion. I defend the right of women to make the choice to have one or not.
“I don’t defend slavery. I only defend the right of rich people to own poor people, if they so choose.”

“I don’t support mysogyny. If a man wants to beat up his wife, it is his own business.”

Is there any difference, here? 🤷

Better education about what sex is for would be better, I think. Contraception is just as bad as abortion, because it’s still saying, I want the fun, but not the responsibility.

Yes, I agree, and that organization is the Catholic Church.
