We’ll need to let a full investigation dig into the financial details and possible cross ownership (forensic accounting is not my expertise). While StemExpress probably has some powerful connections, that won’t apply to every clinic. I think the connections were with PP leadership and the payments were to throw a bone to the owners of the individual clinics.LLC records are public, go look it up.
No. If you own the lab, then you can simply donate the body parts to the lab and then pay yourself a cut of profits from the sale of stem cells. Since there is technically no sale of organs involved, there is no crime. But that’s not what they did. They sold the organs to the lab and invoiced for it.
Let’s say you want to kill someone. A smart person will hire a professional hitman through the intermediaries, so they cannot be traced. A normal person will kill the victim themselves, dispose of the body, and keep quiet. A stupid person will kill the victim theselves, record that on video, and send the video to the police. This is what they did.
This has been going on for a long time. They could have recorded the same conversation with people working in almost any of the clinics, but they used her because of her seniority. What the woman said was distasteful but I don’t think she admitted to any specific crimes. She talked about grey areas which would be hard to prosecute. That woman is either a complete idiot or she was purposedly set up to be the scapegoat to protect a larger operation.
I expect companies like StemExpress will be the ones targeted for any legal action, that’s where the real money is circulating. PP will likely start donating the tissue samples for no compensation beyond actual ‘out of pocket’ costs. Before they were charging for floor space, etc etc…
