I personally don’t believe you ever had a testimony because if you did you would never have left the Mormon Church. God is calling you back to the Mormon church. I suggest you talk to your local bishop and read the scriptures tonight. You may see differently 👍
How dare you say such a thing to me on a Catholic forum! I will not talk to the local bishop because they were the 1st to shun me. I was VERY good friends with his wife and daughter!. The only scriptures I will be reading is the bible and other CATHOLIC materials!

Lizs, people change religions every day. And guess what, people leave Mormonism, including those that once believed, and had a “testimony” (whatever that is).
God is calling you back to the Mormon church.
God is doing no such thing.

I suggest you read the Bible (I recommend the New American Bible, but if you prefer reading in Shakespearean English, the King James Version will do) and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. You may see differently.

See post #15, replace the name Zerinus with lizs1988.

I pray God will open your eyes and your heart and your mind to his truth and that you will find your way home to the one Holy and Apostolic Church.

I’m surprised they let you on this site. You are very rude to people. When you posted the first time you never even read what I wrote and you continue to smartmouth people. I’m shocked more people don’t report your posts.
Patty, I was a life long Mormon (born and raised in the church) and became a Catholic in March. I too suffered from feeling excluded and judged for having doubts about Mormonism. Mormons on the whole can be quite judgmental and harsh to those who question their faith, as Zerinus so perfectly illustrated with his posts to you. For years, as I struggled with my doubts about Mormonism, I was accused of lacking faith, being insincere, of being a sinner, by my family members and church acquaintances, whomever I opened up to and told that I was having problems with Mormon doctrine and history. Some were arrogant and rude, like Zerinus; others were nicer and well-meaning, but the message was always the same: it was all my fault, I wasn’t worthy of the spirit, I doubted too much, I thought too much, I read too much, I was insincere in my searching for a testimony. For years I struggled with anger and depression at these rejections by my community - the people who mattered most to me in my life. I encourage you to attend mass regularly, talk to your parish priest, and pray. Rebecca offers very good advice in that regard. And know always that you are blessed and that God loves you and is happy that you have returned to His family in the Catholic Church. I have found peace at last as a Catholic. You too will find such peace as you grow in your faith.

God bless you.

Great post New Seeker! I am happy that you have found peace in God’s church! God bless you! 🙂

lol whyme, no surprise there, as obedience implies you are listening and following, out of love for our Lord and Master (not a man claiming to be a prophet)…which doesn’t always mean doing what “feels good”.

Reducing Christ’s Sacrifice and our Redemption to a formula, is rather unfortunate.
Actually obedience implies that catholics follow the word of god and not necessarly the word of the priest who acts as god’s representative. Most catholics do not speak with priests about spiritual matters. However, among nuns and priests, obedience can be understood as: following the dictates of the mother superior or the bishop regardless of what those dictates are.

Following the counsel of a spiritual advisor is much different from slavish obedience.
Most catholics have no spiritual advisor. For catholics, obedience can lead to holiness and holiness can lead to living life like a saint.

that’s a presumptuous and incorrect statement. we look to our priests and bishops as spiritual advisers. The Pope gives us spiritual advice all the time.

Yes following Christ is the same as following God. Priests and other clergy are available to help. I don’t know how you can say what “most” Catholics do, when your record on such statements is rather dismal.

All religious are following Christ, they have leaders, and they have taken vows that largely effect how and what they do. You seem to confuse following humans with following God.

Lets be honest:

1 There were no golden plates - you just don’t lose things like that. Anyway it would have taken zillions of cartloads & cartloads of gold to include all that stuff on plates. (work it out).

2 Jesus never came to America

3 Native Americans have no blood link with Biblical peoples -nothing in their DNA , languages or legends to suggest that.
  1. God the Father doesn’t have sex - he isn’t a superhuman like Olympian gods.
  2. Need I go on…??;the list of objections is endless.
This is a very successful cult like scientology and the rest. Anyone with the dimmest glimmering of intelligence can see thru’ it. Perhaps Americans are just too polite, too trusting.
