sadlisa,
Remember, ultimately whatever you do here is
your choice. Not your parents. Not the father’s. Not anybody elses. Sure, lots of people might put pressures of all kinds upon you and make life tough. But, you’re a grown-up now. You have a child. You’re her (or his) mom. And you make your own decisions. That’s your right! And your responsibility. You, therefore, have to think first and foremost about what is in your own best interests and that of your baby.
I am saddened at the attitude of your mother. Really, it is almost as if she is aborting you. You mentioned that she has had abortions. And you know how upsetting it is to hear her tell you that you ought to abort your baby. Does she really have that little care or value for your life? I mean, what if she had aborted you? She could have, afterall. Yet, if you think you feel bad now, how much more upset would that make you feel? Think about it. For right now, that’s what your own child is going through. The trial of it’s mom (you) trying to decide whether she (you) should love him (or her) and bring your baby to birth; or if you (like your parents are now doing) ought to just abandon your child out of fear and force it to suffer and die a painful killing. Your own child’s crying out is basically the same as your own: “Don’t do this to me, mom! Don’t make me go through this pain! Help me! Let me have life! Don’t send me off to the doctor of death!” You don’t really want to make your child go through all of that, do you? Of course you don’t!
Your own pain, then, can be turned into a healing choice for life and for the good of your own child, in some way reversing the wrongs which have been done to you. You can be different. You can be better than that. And, deep down, I think that your posts here express that you know this is what you really want. You only need to choose to do it. And you can. You will. There’s no reason to let anyone else convince you otherwise. Be your best self. Give your child a chance. The same kind of chance that you, yourself, desire… and can have if you only say yes to life!
As some of us have noted before… there is help available. It’s not too late. You need not allow yourself to be intimidated. Stand up for your rights! Be strong! Reach out a hand to ask for help. Simply call one of the phone lines we have noted before (like 1-800-TNN-4MOM) or look up “abortion alternatives” in the yellow pages and find a crisis pregnancy hotline. Call Catholic Charities or your local priest. Find a way. Make a way. Don’t give in. Good moms like you never do! Heck, if your own mom is so insistent upon “throwing you out of the house” for your right choice, then show her up and run off on your own to find help if need be!
There are many people who love you and want to support you. It’s yours merely for the asking. Reach out that hand and take the step. Nobody can stop you now!
And I even think that (with their help) your parents would probably eventually come around, too.
God Bless!
