Lord, we lift Katherine up in prayer today.
Lord, our God, You sent Your Son into the world to bear our infirmities and to endure our sufferings.
For Your servants who are sick, we ask that Your blessing will give them strength to overcome their weakness through the power of patience and the comfort of hope and that with Your aid they will soon be restored to health.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Watch, O Lord, with those who wake,
or watch, or weep tonight, and give Your angels and saints charge over those who sleep. Tend Your sick ones, O Lord Christ. Rest Your weary ones. Bless Your dying ones. Soothe Your suffering ones. Pity Your afflicted ones. Shield Your joyous ones, and all for Your loves sake.

On careful reflection, the surgeon I saw yesterday doesn’t give me a good feeling … first of all he is young … second, he didn’t spend that much time with us … he seemed flighty and in a rush … also I checked out the hospital where he wants to do the surgery and they don’t even have an oncology department … that’s not a good thing.
Hence, I’m going to go with the surgeon at Sloan … I have to wait until October 19 to see him, but I spoke to his assistant and she said that kidney cancer is very slow growing … meanwhile I am having the parathyroid surgery next Thursday and it will probably take until the 19th to be able to talk properly …
Sloan has an entire community dedicated to making sure they got all the cancer and deciding if you need further therapy after the removal of the tumor … so I think it’s worth the wait … this is not something I can afford to do with someone who doesn’t really have a team behind him to take care of me after surgery.
Pray that I am making the right decision.

A nurse from Sloan Kettering called me today … she wanted to assure me that waiting to see their doctor was okay and that their surgeon would make the best decision for me. She gave me her name and number so just in case the CT scan comes back abnormal I can call her.

For so many years you bore in your own flesh this cancerous disease that destroys the very fibre of our being, and who had recourse to the source of all grace when the power of man could do no more.
You were favoured with the vision of Jesus coming down from His Cross to heal your affliction. Ask of God and Our Lady, the cure of the sick whom we entrust to you. Aided in this way by your powerful intercession, we shall sing to God, now and for all eternity, a song of gratitude for His great goodness and mercy.
