Praying for your son, you and your family. May the Lord bless your household abundantly in this new year with health, joy and prosperity. In Jesus Name I ask, Amen.

Bad news - the injections didn’t work. Two surgeries are next - one for each knee. The saga continues.

Peace in Christ,

DustinsDad

Hello everyone and thanks for all your prayers. Here’s the latest…

Dustin just had his second arthoscopic knee surgery a week and a half ago. The other knee was done about 5 weeks ago. There was alot of damage in there on the cartilidge from the Levaquin. Doc went in and clipped and laser-smoothed the damaged parts of the cartlidge and removed the enflamed lining of the cartlidge (which should grow back within 6 weeks).

The doctor was thinking that the Levaquin “seeded” (his word) the lining of the cartilidge - so time will tell if the problem stays away or comes back post-op. To do nothing would have meant continued deterioration of the knees so going in seems like the right thing to do. We’re hoping that by mid-to-end of May we can put this whole thing behind us. Rehab on both knees continues in the meantime.

In any case - we ain’t done praying for the resolution of this situation *just yet! *

Thanks again so much for all of your prayers. They help so so much!

Peace in Christ,

DustinsDad

Praying for Dustin’s healing.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Dustin’s Dad,
I’m so sorry! I cannot imagine what you, your family, and Dustin are going through. I am praying that Dustin is able to make a speedy and full recovery from this dreaded situation through the intercession of Saint Jude.

We received very good news on the post op visit with the doctor last Teusday - doctor says both knees look excellent - and anticipates complete recovery! Says we proceed from here under the assumption that the original problem has been fixed!

Turns out they did more than simply scraping cartilage and cleaning out the joint…he did quite a bit of something called microfracture surgery in there to stimulate new cartilage growth. I didn’t even realize this until reading the operation reports and asking the doc about it at the post-op examination.

So physical therapy continues for the next month or so, light drilling (for his wrestling) can begin in a week or two and can progress from there to full speed drilling/live wrestling when D feels up to it.

Years down the road, doctor says, my son may or may not need more work, depending on how the “fixed” cartilage holds up over time, but even if this winds up being the case, doc says he can deal with it effectively using the same when and if that time comes.

I guess this will be my last post on this thread unless something changes in the coming weeks/months.

I thank you all so very much for all of your prayers - we couldn’t have gotten through it without ya!

And I especially thank Our Lady for answering our prayers - the fact that we received the good news on the Feast Day of Our Lady of Fatima blew me away. I take it as a subtle (or not so subtle) wink from Our Lord’s mother in Heaven.

I’ll be suggesting the 54-Day Novena to folks in desparate situations for the rest of my life!

Thank you all again, and Peace in Christ!!!

Merciful Father in Heaven, You have borne with DustinsDad and his family through this trial. You have watched the fervency of their faith grow in response to Your love. Since great was their faith before, even greater is their faith now, O Lord. Were it not for Your mercy which has been revealed through this trial, would their faith now have grown as it has? You possess Your Divine Plan for our perfection, and You graciously chose to reveal a tiny part of it through this mysterious process. Merciful Father, we ask your continued blessing upon Dustin and his family, knowing that they will praise Your name for both the good and the bad which befalls them. You alone give us hope in our times of sorrow and consternation. Your love is reflected in the unfathomable price that Your Son paid for our redemption. You have withheld Your Hand of judgment and have instead cradled them in Your love. May the continued prayers of the faithful be joined with those of the Angels and Saints to form an unending petition for continued healing in Dustin. We humbly ask that You grant this through Christ, our Lord, Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, One God for ever and ever. Amen! Alleluia!
