I don’t think they’re pure ideological communists no. I think mainly they’re just people with nothing better to do and nothing to really lose and they find entertainment and destruction. But I’m sure many of them would love to see wealth confiscated and redistributed to themselves.

Are you saying that if the local police cannot quell the violence that we should just let it continue?
Who is “we?” If the police in Seattle need help, then they can enlist help. After all, it is there decision how much success justifies “quell” since violence will always exist to some degree in a large city. I would say the very concept of “we” cannot extend past their citizens and elected officials.

If the citizens of Seattle are unhappy with their police, that is something they can change at the polls. Until then, you live with the officials you elect.

What happened in Seattle was not just a protest. It was a crime, a felony, destruction of property.
The crime in Seattle was building a child prison, the people of Seattle were just stopping a crime in progress.
Is there real evidence for this?
No, the establishment just always gets het up when white people start showing solidarity with Black people.
There is nothing to protest here in Seattle.
You can stick your head in the sand all you want but it doesn’t make the problems with the SPD go away.

Where ought one house juveniles who rape or juveniles who murder?
Having family who worked in a King County Juvenile Children’s Center for many years, I am well aware that children are not sent to these facilities until they have very significant records. We are talking multiple assaults, rape of children, gang rape, and murder.
Where do you suggest they be placed?

Presumably he wants them free to terrorize the citizens in the name of “social justice”. The problem is that those citizens do not have the ability to detain, try, and incarcerate leaving vigilante style justice as the only feasible alternative. This will not end well.

In the United States, arson is a crime. Construction is not.

It was not a child prison. It was a juvenile detention center. They exists so those underage that commit serious crimes do not have to be sent to prison with adults. For example, if two fifteen year old’s rape, murder and burn a cab driver, there is a place for them to go, at least initially. (This was the first juvenile crime I was involved in).

In the United States, it is never acceptable to try and change laws by violence. To believe otherwise, and yet object to police violence, is sheer hypocrisy on a level devoid of credibility.

From the KIRO newsarticle (my bolding)
During the march, Seattle police said about a dozen people devolved into a rampage of destruction as they marched past the King County Youth Detention Center at 12th Avenue and Alder Street, targeting the site.

Some rioters carried sledgehammers and began shattering workers’ car windows in the parking lot.

At one point, a rioter grabbed a flagger’s stop sign and used it as a weapon.

Protesters through incendiary devices into construction trailers at the new construction site of the juvenile justice facility. It was spray-painted before it was torched

At the same time, a row of construction trailers next door on 12th Avenue were firebombed after some rioters scaled a fence.

The site used to be where the old juvenile detention center stood, but KIRO 7 was told workers at the site were building a parking lot.

Fire crews responded and reported that five construction trailers were on fire. They were destroyed.

King County youth detention officer Daryl Breaux saw her SUV’s smashed windows and slashed tires. Her fellow workers were overcome with emotion seeing the damage to every worker’s car.

“I didn’t deserve this, OK! I’m a hardworking individual, college-educated young lady, Black lady at that! Born and raised in Seattle!” she said."

Twelve people on a rampage are hardly the voice of Seattle. Hopefully they will put every bit as much energy into earning the funds necessary to purchase a new vehicle for Ms. Breaux and replacing the trailers, other cars, and work on the parking lot which suffered from their destructive activities.

How do you go about restoring rape victims or bringing back to life those killed by juveniles?
And where do you house and how do you provide 24 hour supervision to violent offenders while you are having them work on “restoration?”

It’s not up to me, it’s part of a process that includes the victim.

If a child is that much of a dangerous threat then they require mental health treatment, not prison.

Prisons are used to remove dangerous threats from the rest of society. Children’s centers provide mental health treatment while keeping violent children separate from society while they receive treatment.

Not really. Children’s centers provide medical and dental care, education including GED diplomas via on site public schools provided by local school districts, experienced counselors who specialize in juvenile care, healthy meals and clean rooms, recreational opportunities, religious services for those who desire them, and, for some children, a much safer environment that they experienced in their own homes.

So you don’t believe criminals should be locked up and that all crimes stem from mental health issues?

Lots of crime stems from personal financial issues, or larger issues with economics.

To those protected from criminal violence juvenile centers may well be a good. For those protected from violence at home by being provided the protections and services of these centers, they may also be a good. To those given an opportunity to aquire an education, receive counselling, and reform their lives prior to returning to society, they may also be a good. Your declaration that they are bad, does not make them so.
