yes, we need to pray for all who are responsible for running the church from the Pope to the magesterium, the archbishops, the bishops, priests, deacons, nuns, etc.

we are the Church Militant and we have to remember the spiritual warfare that we are all fighting.

This story should not be as disheartning as many will make it out to be, not that the crimes are horrific for they are. But once again this is about something that happen during a time 20 to thirty years ago, before what we see as a turning back to faith starting among the faithful under the leadership of Pope John Paul II and continuing now under Pope Bennedict XVI.

In fact the alegations surface much earlier and it appears the current leader of the school acted on it as some as they started being revealed to him.
Mr Edwards said he first became aware of allegations involving former staff several years ago and forwarded the information to police.
He put it in the police hands and seems to doing what is needed to bring those guilty to justice an. My we pray for all involved, healing for victims and continue seeking our own personal conversions.

Oh…
My…
God…

Those poor children. And the tortured adults they have now become. I am glad God is there, because I could not forgive such atrocity and would send all the adults involved to burn in Hell for eternity, no matter how many times they claimed to be sorry.

That said, I wonder how true the allegations are. So many are anonymous… and we have had cases where people have claimed abuse where there was none just to take advantage of the Church… Don’t know what to think.
the past 10 years in arizona i have followed many of these sex scandals with priests and young boys, men and women. none of them have involved a pedophile ring, but there have been some shocking accusations and some have been found guilty and are serving time. i am not a victim, so it might be easier for me to forgive, but i can understand how some of the victims have never stepped foot inside the Catholic church again because they felt betrayed. others, are somehow able to return to the Church and their faith.
as far as burning in Hell, i think there is someone else in charge of that part.

Code:
Although mercy and forgiveness is always open to a repentant sinner, was it not this same God that said that it would be better that a noose be tied around their necks and thrown into the river than to have one lose their faith because of them?

there is the verse from Matthew 18:6.

i don’t know if this is what you are referring to shoshana. it does say,
“whoever causes one of these little ones who believes in me to sin,
it would be better for him to have a great millstone hung around his neck and be drowned in the depths of the sea.”

in a way the priests are encouraging them to sin by having them participate in these acts, but at the same time i see them as victims too. some are participating out of fear or intimidation or shame or force. i think this verse would still pertain to these priests.
