According to Gallup

“Trump Evokes Negative Reaction From Americans
Sixty-four percent of Americans say they would definitely not vote for Donald Trump for president in 2012, a significantly higher level of negativity than they express about Mike Huckabee or Mitt Romney.”

…why?

He doesn’t really seem like one who would be suited for the job of POTUS.

I’d actually be interested in knowing how many of his Republican supporters thought Obama was too politically inexperienced to be the executive. that’s a discussion for another day though 🤷

It’d be fun to see Trump and Obama debating each other. “Excuse me, Mr. President! Excuse me! You don’t know how to create jobs. I’m willing to bet you. I have created more jobs than your entire presidency.”
You mean like how his foolish pride sunk the USFL? Or how he took the Taj Mahal Casino into bankruptcy? Or how the Trump Plaza went bankrupt? Or how Trump Entertainment Resorts went bankrupt?

Trump is good at getting personally rich, which is a talent that he indisputably has. That doesn’t mean he’s actually good at maintaining his businesses.

In my mind, the reason that Trump should never be President is that he’s indisputably proven that he’ll run something into the ground and not care as long as he walks away with money in his pocket.

Nicely argued:thumbsup:

May I ask you a question?

If it comes down to Trump vs Obama, who do you vote for? (NB: you can’t say

a. no one, as that is effectively a vote for Obama or

b. a 3rd party, ditto 😃 )

NB: If I could choose the candidate that the Republicans run, it would be Gingrich or Palin or possibly Daniels at this point 😉

“Among the rich you will never find a really generous man even by accident. They may give their money away, but they will never give themselves away; they are egotistic, secretive, dry as old bones. To be smart enough to get all that money you must be dull enough to want it.”

I’d say the reaction is only negative for him if his goal is to actually become president… and I highly doubt that is his goal. He’s getting oodles of free advertising, and that’s all I expect he’d hope for at the end of the day. Well, that and I’m sure he’s having lots of fun.

Trump’s debate style is the exact wrong direction in my opinion. I don’t want to see anyone shoving their opponent around the stage like a bully, Trump isn’t trying to spread information or make strong points he just wants to make himself look good and his opponent look bad. Anti-intellectualism at its finest.
Agreed.

As a democrat…

GASP!

Not the Donald! He’s our kryptonite! We’ll never beat him…

Gives thumbs up to other democrats

They’re buying it! They’re actually buying it! We’re so gonna win now!
😃

😛

All the conservatives I know are pretty irked by Trump and people who actually support him. The GOP’s best bet would be Romney or Daniels.

Way too early to look at any polls but name recognition and “right direction” polls right now. We are a year out from the primaries and anything can happen.

Which leads me to today’s score: Trump 1, Obama 0

Trump had a great triumph today. He is on everyone’s lips. Obama is off message, the other Republican possible candidates are side-lined. The question is, can Trump leverage today and keep up the fight?

We will have to see …

I’m not so sure. If Trump sees a clear path to the White House, I don’t think he would pass it up. And today he made Obama look defensive and weak.

Greta (Fox News) played the full interview with Obama, then Trump, and even a few minutes with Rush Limbaugh’s take. foxnews.com/on-air/on-the-record/index.html . The interview was on TV tonight and the segment wasn’t on the site list yet, but it should be placed there pretty soon. This is the best coverage I’ve seen.😃

You just got to love the way he handled this. Palin says he ought to use his media spotlight to bring forth important political issues which the press are letting slide by, like why are our troops being put under NATO control. Good point, maybe his true advantage is that the press are covering him and ignoring the other Republicans when they show guts.🤷

He’s Obama’s trump card if there ever was one. Who needs issues when you have the Donald running against you?

Well you can tune in to NBC on May 22 to find out what’s going on. Should be a real ratings bonanza.

I was going to say this too! Haha

Honestly, the more I hear from trump the more I like him. He asks the tough questions and doesn’t back down. He tough, and we need tough right now. No. This namby-Pamby wishy washy crud we’ve been getting out of the white house for the last two years. We need a solid leader who understands how money REALLY works, is a strong leader, and can stand by his decisions. I think trump can be that. But I think he is also too easy of a target for the left that will no doubt start their horrendous mudslinging to trash him for his past. Honestly I’d love to see Palin in office. Trump is quickly becoming my runner up.
I agree that he asks tough questions and is not afraid to have his reputation questioned (witness the whole “birther” thing) but I agree with others----he’s been too allied to Dmeocratic causes in the past and toww wishy-washy about certain positions in the past for him to be considered a viable candidate by strong conservatives. it’s great that he ahs finally embraced the pro-life cause, but that is simply not enough.
Plus, remember, he has a very sordid, immoral peronal history (and I’m not talking about his oversized ego). He cheated on Ivanka and left her for Marla Maples----then left her tp pursue other “pleasures.”

On a personal level, I would not vote for someone who once told Larry King that he considered the meaning of life to be “something you do while you’re waiting to die.” 🤷

Trump will continue to gain popularity because the GOP establishment needs to be scrapped. Until that is done, people will have no interest in the Republican party and I wish the Donald good luck. None of the other candidates get into direct specifics or honest speculation about ideas or events. Flush twice.

Darn it and I just signed up for the party! 😉
