Actually Obama changed his mind on a lot of things after the election. It happens just as you say. I don’t trust Trump for a second. Historically he’s got a ruthless history of being a businessman, he’s got the makings of a Hitler and I’m not falling for it…
Oh now with the hitler analogy.

Ok so logic is not driving our discussion.

Tell me. What is the moral alternative?

I guess as long as we are throwing hitler around we can talk of the holocaust of babies Hillary demands proudly…

Regan changed his mind too. Quite radically.

Can I go live in any country I wish any time I wish any way I want?

This is emotional driven untruth about the issue.

Please, name a holy choice that we could have? Or have had…
Actually no, there are legal ways to get into countries, but when those legal ways are unreasonable and illogical, the legal ways need reforming so people have an avenue to be accepted into the country so they can become ‘legal’ tax paying contributing citizens instead of running with a deer in the headlights look. Scared, unaccepted, leaving their families, sickly, living with multiple families in one place. Feeling less than they should about themselves. That isn’t how we should treat our brothers, which I would add, are mostly Catholic.

We are so far apart on the reality of the situation that productive conversation cannot be achieved.

Does this sound like Trump is prolife?

"We have no idea who these people [Syrian refugees] are, we are the worst when it comes to paperwork… This could be one of the great Trojan horses… We cannot let them into this country, period. Our country has tremendous problems. We can’t have another problem.”

The fact that these statements come out of his mouth should be a red flag that this guy is ruthless and a liar and certainly doesn’t represent my values.

Paging Professor Godwin…

I’m a hardcore Bernie supporter.

Go to church every week. During the summer (I’m a teacher) I go to noon Mass sometimes. I’m on the parish council. I pray frequently. My faith is of utmost importance to me.

I don’t say that to brag, but because I know someone is going to question whether I’m a “practicing Catholic.”

I am.

I am a Bernie guy. I will be reluctantly voting for Hillary.
This is like a breath of fresh air on CAF.

You are separating “pro life” from abortion. No candidate will be acceptable no candidate has been. Washington was a general who killed thousands.

Who is your candidate? Who should you vote for. Who have you voted for?

I’m dying to know.

Most of the people who spew this trump rhetoric are democrats who realize Hillary is not the ideal candidate but wish to deflect by attacking trump while planning to vote Hillary all along. Do you fit that mold?

US immigration rules are insane even for skilled workers from first world countries.

I get your problems with trump. But what is your solution? Who is “better” who is the holy candidate you want?
Whatever candidate I choose I will have pray on and live with that decision, so I will choose wisely and not be sold by the devils game. And this is a devils game as seen in this post… Politics has never been more irreligious than at any time in history.

That’s ignorant of history. Still waiting for your example of a candidate that you feel is a holy choice past or present.

This must be your first election. So perhaps you shouldn’t overthink it.😉

Stop being antagonistic and rude…

I don’t mean to be rude. I’m asking since you are critical of trump on the basis of his morality what the better option is. Or what the better option would have been or what better option you have found in the past. I assume because of your struggle with this election that you have not voted before. I don’t know your age but…

I’m currious can you make a case for voting for Hillary. I mean since trump is obviously not a choice. Or is there a third option you are going with. I hear there is a Catholic alternative candidate.

Politics has never been more irreligious than at any time in history.
I don’t know what you mean by irreligious as religiOn will always play a part. The Roman senate was not immune, nor the pope/kings of the past. From Charlemagne to King James. Politics has collided with religion. Sometimes for the good sometimes for the bad. There was a time when people thought jfk was going to mean the USA was controlled by the pope and though Catholic in name he was certainly not Catholic by politics. Last election the republican candidate was a Mormon who our own church would not accept the baptism of.
Here is a list of campaign slogans for prez in history
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._presidential_campaign_slogans

One slogan is actually “give em (them) hell Harry”.

It doesn’t get more irreligious than giving us hades!!!
;). (Of course that is a joke)

Though pope Benedict and his brother or his family did not vote for hitler, they did fight for Germany. The pope’s brother was shot by Americans.

When God begged us to not ask him for kings and rulers he meant it. And since that time, politics is not holy. It isn’t meant to be. Actually it is looking to man to establish the kingdom of heaven and not God. Until that time we will have these conflicts. Our job is to navigate the sewer as best we can. Sadly that just so happens to include riding on a toupee this election.

If Trump wants more of the share of the minority vote then he and the rest of the GOP should do a better job of appealing to them in policy AND in rhetoric.

It’s really that simple.

Unless some of you all want to argue some “moral deficiency” among all non-white voters. Which I’m sure no one here wants to, or will, do.

.
Sir my father was a WWII Vet, a doctor who came up the beaches of Normandy with the American Soldiers and also went into Japan post Hiroshima to help… Now, if he differentiated who he helped based on race, including those he cared for stateside in the wartorn areas of Chicago, than he wouldn’t be Christian now would he? And I hope that gives you some indication as to how many elections I voted in, and how it matters not to me whether I have to move over to accommodate those who just want a shot at a better life in the United States…Not sounding too conservative right winged am I?..

Now Sir, if you are so against bringing in more into this nation, how could you say you are pro-life? Don’t all lives matter, not just the unborn? I am pro-life in all aspects of life, that’s the legacy I received from my dad. I choose to serve God over man and many of our politicians today don’t. This isn’t survival of the fittest, it’s about doing what morally right. Therefore as long as politics is polarizing everyone into a far left or far right position…, I stay in the middle which I believe is where I should be as a Christian which makes voting very difficult for me… I will vote, but since there aren’t a lot of good presidential candidates, I hope who I vote for besides the President will make a difference. Certainly the climate being created by both parties is terrible…

The racial divide reaches beyond Catholics. Trump received 0% of blacks in this poll of OH and PA voters.

nbcnews.com/politics/2016-election/donald-trump-gets-0-support-black-voters-ohio-pennsylvania-nbc-n609026

I’m still not sure there are enough whites for Trump to overcome the dismal numbers he receives among the non white electorate and to win an Electoral College victory in the 21st century.
I don’t think that will be a worry as African Americans are still a minority in the US. More of a problem are that Ohio is a swing state and he lost that state.
