How do you know what the “trend” would be without CO2 having been raised? The claims don’t match actual temperature data. The warming is consistent with the trend without any allowance for CO2.

Based on historical records. Temperatures were much colder in the 1700s and have been rising every since. They were much warmer around 1000-1200 AD. We see the trend of falling temperatures from 1200-1700(roughly) then rising again. We are currently in a rising trend that has nothing to do with human activity. If there is a human component it is insignificantlHow do you know what the “trend” would be without CO2 having been raised?
Pray the rosary for an end to abortion. Then vote for the most viable pro-life candidate. Prayer + action. That is what we ought to be doing.Voting for an ideal candidate is an expression of what you would like to happen, even if you don’t have the power personally to bring that about. Praying the rosary is also an expression of desires we do not have the power to fulfill on our own. I would not say that praying the rosary is a meaningless gesture. So why is voting for the ideal candidate a meaningless gesture?

How do you know that trend would continue as it has? Trends do not go on forever.Based on historical records. Temperatures were much colder in the 1700s and have been rising every since. It is if that person can in no way be elected.Do you also think that voting for the ideal candidate is a meaningless gesture?
When did we go from “You should believe AGW because it has been proven right” to “You should believe AGW because it can’t be proven wrong”?How do you know what the “trend” would be without CO2 having been raised?
But of course, in some states either the democratic candidate or the republican candidate is not viable. For example, will a democrat ever really win Utah?In 99% of all races the Democrat or Republican nominee . Voting for a non-viable candidate is not a violation of church teaching at all. If, however, one proclaims to be pro-life it is a meaningless gesture that does nothing to advance a cause and actually helps empower those who would keep abortion legal.
We went to that when CHESTERTONRULES attempted to prove it wrong. When did we go from “You should believe AGW because it has been proven right” to “You should believe AGW because it can’t be proven wrong”?

Because your vote could have helped lessen the terrible evil of abortionVoting for an ideal candidate is an expression of what you would like to happen, even if you don’t have the power personally to bring that about. Praying the rosary is also an expression of desires we do not have the power to fulfill on our own. I would not say that praying the rosary is a meaningless gesture. I proved it invalid. We went to that when CHESTERTONRULES attempted to prove it wrong.
I respect the sentiment in your last point. But make no mistake - being “pro-environment” is just a code word for supporting statist policies which further erode freedoms and rights all around, and empower faceless bureaucrats to make decisions which go far beyond the environment. “environmentalism” = leftist / statism. Genuine environmentalism / conservation could be a great combination with a pro-life message, but as it now stands, the “environmentalists” are just a bunch of socialists using the movement to impose their ideology on our country.Political conservatives (or libertarians who identify as conservatives) traditionally embrace a notion called “living within your means.” I don’t understand why this notion only seems to apply to taxation and spending. It’s a solid notion that should apply to our use of the planet’s resources as well.
It seems our society is hyperventilating and spiraling out of control. We need to slow down.
I hope Santorum wins the GOP nod, as I truly believe he is a genuine man of faith who actually lives out his faith. Pro-environment is pro-life, and Santorum could well unite those two messages in unison with Pope Francis.
As I said, Consequentialism. You are talking only about the ends as if that is all that matters.Because your vote could have helped lessen the terrible evil of abortion
If by “ideal candidate” you mean Virgil Goode or some other 3rd party “true believer” candidate with absolutely NO chance to stop the infanticide policies of Barack Obama / Democrats then YES it is meaningless as a pro-life strategy.Do you also think that voting for the ideal candidate is a meaningless gesture?
Then, staying with the consequentialism theme, why isn’t praying the rosary a meaningless gesture? It does not add a single vote to the Romney column, nor take away a single vote from the Obama column. And the time you spend praying the rosary you could have spent out there campaigning for Romney. If by “ideal candidate” you mean Virgil Goode or some other 3rd party “true believer” candidate with absolutely NO chance to stop the infanticide policies of Barack Obama / Democrats then YES it is meaningless as a pro-life strategy.

Do you, upon reflection, really mean this? God and His Blessed Mother are far more capable of affecting outcomes than Virgil Goode or Romney, either one. Then, staying with the consequentialism theme, why isn’t praying the rosary a meaningless gesture? It does not add a single vote to the Romney column, nor take away a single vote from the Obama column. And the time you spend praying the rosary you could have spent out there campaigning for Romney.
What is a “true social justice GW accepting Catholic”? Seriously, I have no clue and am curious to learn.Speaking as a true Catholic, I hasten to confirm that that is not correct. I am fearful that the same irresponsible stereotyping and unjust attacks are just getting started on the other side - the side of the true social justice GW accepting Catholics I mean.
Sarcasm - just shorthand for a good Catholic (as opposed to a bad one). What is a “true social justice GW accepting Catholic”? Seriously, I have no clue and am curious to learn.
