So, my questions to you. 1) How much studying did you do to come to your conclusions about God? 2)Would you equate this amount of study with what you would do for any other topic. Say Biology, or physics. And do you go to experts with your questions. For example. I might take biology at a university from an expert scientist. Not just read it, and come to my own conclusions. Especially reading books that are written in a fashion that doesn’t mirror our style of language today. Curious. So, as an example, a man once wrote that he quit being Catholic, and believing in God, because his mother could not explain how communion was not Canablism. And I wonder. WOW, she must be a genius in all other topics. Since he believes in science, and physics. She must be able to explain all of that in great detail. Or is there a double standard?unfortunately it would probably go as far as God standing in front of me to prove his/her existance. i used to be catholic. i did all the regular stuff- went to mass every sunday, baptism, communion, confirmation, confessions, i was an altar boy, etc etc etc. but as i grew older i questioned a few things. it began with 1 little story (which 1 i dont remember) from the bible. You DON’T remember the story that caused you to question the reality of God? and once i had figured this could not be true i began to questions all the other parts to the bible. so i had lost interest in the bible long before i had lost belief in God. Is this a simplified answer? Who did you go to for explanation? Further questioning?
and then one day i just stopped hiding from what i already knew and came the conclusion that i hadnt believed in God for a long time. Your statement suggest that you realized that YOU didn’t believe in God. But not that you KNOW God does not exist.so im not sure that God doesnt make sense to me. ive basically decided its as far fetched as santa claus or the toothfairy.Except that HISTORY only supports the STORY of Santa, and the STORY of the toothfairly as stories. Not the reality of their existance as actual people. With the exception of St. Nicholas. But no elves and such. How do you know, if anything in history has occured? For example, How were the pyramids in Egypt built? We still can’t figure that out. Do they exist? Or is it ONLY because they are still there to see that we know it was somehow possible? But not within our comprehension? to be an atheist when i was growing up you would have been an outcast. but the numbers of atheists are now increasing, and that does not include those who are actually atheists, but will not declare it in case they upset a family member. you see relgion is a very important part of life hereVery sad indeed. Sometimes, it’s clear that in some circles it’s just important to be a religion. Not actually understand it. Not to ask more questions to further your education.
