I don’t think that’s accurate. I had him as a professor for a course on the New Evangelization specifically. I really believe he has a solid grasp for the mind of John Paul II (and Benedict XVI) on what they are calling for when they speak of the New Evangelization. The Charismatic Renewal Movement is one renewal movement within the Church that is part of the New Evangelization (which he, of course, acknowledges), but he doesn’t ignore everything else simply because of personal preferences.Ralph Martin seems to be a bit more reliant on the charismatic renewal than I like. It’s probably just his style, but something about his style seems much more like it belongs in an evangelical Church than a Catholic one.
